I bought a 74 Mercury Capri back in 1980,bronze color. 4 cyl, 4 speed manual. Was built in Germany. My first motor rebuild, bored it, redid heads, bigger carb, headers. Didn't know they were popular in Europe. Car was a screamer. Sounded like a 327 v8. Really hard back then to find parts for it. It was stolen in Wisconsin. Was 22 yrs old then. Still depressed over it.
I always wonder what happened to those cars that I sold. I only recently had a pickup truck stolen on Christmas morning and I can’t believe it’s still gone
Hi Rob I think the MK1 Capri is the best looking, such a shame about the tyres, hopefully you will be able to get it sorted. I've owned MK1, MK2 and MK3 Capris in the past and wish I still had them all 😭😭 They were a bit tail happy but great fun to drive, looks like I'm going to be looking for a 1:32 Capri to re live my youth!!! Great video buddy thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
Hi Rob. The problem was often mentioned by me. Carrera had a lot of cars which had these sloppy quality with their rubber tires in the last ten years, or so. They could not get a continuosly raw rubber material over the last years by their deliverers. That was mainly the problem for that lousy quality. Do me a favour and measure the rear-rims and let me know the measures. I will see, what I can do for you. Maybe BRM, or NSR got the right rubber tires. You might have to grind the replacemnt tires down, but I think, it is a problem that could be fixed. I would need the Metric measures though. ;-) For sure you could get Ortmann tires for the RS 3100, but they are PU`s. The item-no. of the Ortmann rear-tire is: 33t. The original Carrera replacment tire no. would be: Art. Nr.20089626, the abreviation Art. stands for Artikel, which is the item, or article in English. If there are no adequate replacement rubber tires, you may need to bite the sauer apple and get the original ones. Nice clip Rob. 🙂
Thanks Bo, I will need to measure these. Tires. I found replacements for my kyalami 917 from Carrera. I’m not sure if those will breakdown once they are open and oxygen hits them.
Mk1 Capri is a poster car and teenagers wet dream. Fairly affordable back in the day. Awesome video Rob.
I think it's the shape of the capri that I like. Thanks Brother!

I’m the first one! I love the Capri.
Back in the 70’s my brother had a Ford Capri. Great car. Police used to pull him over daily, though. 😂😂😂
That’s like my friends and I in our VW’s.
I think they were playing a game to see how many Volkswagens they could pull over in one day.

I also think the MK1 looked the best from a styling point of view. The things we get rid of early on that we regret later in life
@@TheDeLeonSlotCarRaceway I've counted up Rob, I had six Capris in total which if I had to buy now would cost between £60000 and £70000 😭😭

I’ll look in my box of tires and see if I have any of those tires for that Carrera Capri.
Thanks Danny, I found some carerra tires in my parts bin for the 917 that might work, I’ll try tonight.
nice cars Rob, didn't know you had those, Carrera don't make replacement tires ?
They are always out of stock in the states
