    Great video. This is so good to see in western Europe, where people have been hunting with bows and arrows for more than 60,000 years. It is sad that in some European countries, the politicians and people who live in cities have made this kind of hunting illegal, or are trying to.

    another well done Sir. Here in America, most of the time we can stop a deer with a simple mouth grunt or a Baaaa. They tend to stop and look back at you but that is okay because you are already ready to shoot then. always love a blood trail like that one, easy to follow. Well the speed of my arrow with this setup is around 160 - 165 fps. And as you could see in the video it´s plenty of arrowspeed. We are always hunting close distance with trad gear, so speed is never important. The arrow weight and the broadheat is doing the penetration. Therefore it´s always better with a relative heavy arrow on light weight bows. At the same time the arrow weight is reducing the noise from the bow to. Thanks for watching

    i have been watching many of your videos and i have noticed that you don't hault/stop your deer? here in the USA we make a Muuurrrp noise to get there attention and hope that they stop for the shot it works about 90% of the time, but you don't why is that, do Roe deer react different?
    I must say i have learnt alot by the way you film and the way you set yourself up for filming and just how your videos are tastefully made. i really appreciate your work, time and hunting ethics thank you again for your videos and for responding.

      shootemfulloholes Thanks alot sir. And Stay tuned for more. Some hunters try to stop the deer in Denmark to. I havent really used it. Because if I draw to much attention when the roe’s are in the red zone (meaning: very close) they’ll be fully alert and jump the string even more. The killzone is small, and They dont need to react much to duck the arrow. Even with a compound at 15 meters. Roe’s are crazy fast. But of course it can be done. But I’m lucky enough without😊

    Hello Peter what's speeds do you need to kill cleanly with a recurve bow?

    • @peterjuulsgaard
      @peterjuulsgaard  Před 4 lety

      Aaron Meyler I would mean that you can’t make it about speed alone. Lets talk about a 40 feet shot, or 12 meters. With 150 fps your arrow will reach the target with in 0,26 seconds. With 170 fps your arrow will reach the target with in 0,23 seconds. Well I dont Think the 0,03 seconds will change anyting What so ever. What is more important is bow noise and arrow weight. And last but not least accuracy. In this video I’m shooting around 160 fps.

    Hello from Ohio in US. Great shot and love the hunt. I have hunted whitetails for 45 years and thank God for all the deer he blessed me to take. I am German heritage and was wondering what country you hunt. Brian Emrick. Hey I noticed you shoot 3 fingers under the arrow, Apache style. I began my bow hunting shooting this way. I get good broadhead flight with a top nock 5/16 inch above level. I also place a nock below nock but draw the bow pushing the loose bottom nock down and the tighter bottom nock. That leaves a small gap between nock point and arrow nock. I slide my fingers to bottom nock instead of touching arrow. Good broadhead flight even out 50 yards, longer than I would shoot.

      Danish-Canadian. I started a few months ago shooting recurve but now shoot longbow. I’d like to do the Danish hunting licence next year but it seems very confusing 😒

      Soren Jensen do you live in Denmark now? You need the one day bowhunting course to be able to perform the test, and a Danish hunting license

    I am now high fiving myself in the face. It surprised me to see that you were hunting so close to a residential area, at the confluence of suburban and rural. I had an image of having to get close toactually be on or on a mountain to hunt these little guys. In the states there are suburban communities with so many whitetails that they create a constant hazard for automobiles. Allowing bowhunting would help maintain a smaller herd population but too many people seem to think their meat comes from a factory delivered on a styrofoam tray so these communities end trying to feed the deer birth control pills. If the Virginia whitetail can thrive in these areas why couldn't roe deer?
    Perhaps someone out there can help me translating roedeer, red deer and telling me the difference in these two deer if any. Doesn't roe mean deer in English?

    • @peterjuulsgaard
      @peterjuulsgaard  Před 3 lety

      First! : we dont have a single mountain in all of Denmark. The highest point is around 350 meters. Roedeer is a species on it’s own. It’s the smallest deer we have in Europe. We have muntjak also, which are escaped from captivity, but they dont belong in Europe. They are smaller, but belong in asia. Reddeer are the biggest deer species we have. They are in family with the wapiti(elk) we also have fallow deer, which size wise are in the middle of the two. The roebuck I shoot in this video is a regular 6 point, which is the size they are when they top. (So he’s more than 3 years)
      Thanks for watching

    Stunning video Peter, your reaction says it all! I dont think anyone has been quite that exhilarated by going to the supermarket to get their food haha. So glad I found your channel, it is mesmerising! I am curious, how far would a roe deer typically travel after an arrow to the vital organs such as this one? Many thanks

    Congrats to that nice buck and nice shot. How can you stay so calm when you shoot. I often have problems with not drawning full and hold my bow when i hunt. Do you have any traning tips to cure that sort of "target panic" while hunting? Thx

    • @peterjuulsgaard
      @peterjuulsgaard  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for watching! I can recomment to take a look at shotIQ with Joel Turner. I´m using the feather to nose technique as a psychotrigger to prevent short drawing and snap shooting. Shoot straight :-)
