I don’t care what anyone says. CC is the most musical drummer alive today. Dynamic control, creative, grace and poise.
He’s fucking brilliant.
Absolutely. If RUSH was to realign, Chris Coleman is the one drummer who COULD replace Neil Peart. He isn't Neil...but Neil wasn't Chris either.
8 years late, but this is one of the best drum solos ever recorded. His ostinatos are so damn musical; perfect execution; lightning fast; dynamic. Brilliance.
Wow he's one of those guys who is really in control of his technique and able to use it musically, unlike many of other technical guys. His sound, technique and musical phrasing is incredible. Truly inspiring.
Hes simply The best of our time
So hard to say but def one of the best.
+FrustratedTurtle technical.. absolutely. musical.. hardly
+Vive Colorgraphy Not usually into fighting about these kind of things, but like, look at 1:12 till 2:59. It's technical, but there's groove and melody happening at the same time, and it all sounds just really unique. Even those ridiculous chops at 3:00 to 3:17 have so much melody and "meaning" to me. Even though somebody like say, Tony Royster Jr could play as fast, it all seems like soulless execution of practiced stuff to me. What Chris is doing feels like improvised but still well thought things that fit together perfectly, and just has "feel". (cliché word I know I'm sorry)
+FrustratedTurtle exactly. Hes the best, but of course peeps will always find some bs to say
this is in my mind the perfect drum sound
Punch Toy I agree 100%!
If there were ever a drum video game, chris coleman would be the final boss... and no one would be able to beat him.
GalaxCFX jajajajajajaja I'm imagining it...
GalaxCFX dear god, can you imagine his boss music
GalaxCFX but what if you can play as benny greb?
+Dota Freezwalm yes or Aaron spears. Giuliana. Danziger. hawkins. spartan. Chris dave. pietro. Coleman is bland
Benny could win possibly in musical groove points but not in chops IMO. I love Benny though, amazing groves and fills. It's actually too hard to say every time you play a different one of them would have to be the end boss, ha ha.
Chris is a master of his craft. No doubt Exquisite playing.
This is what I think I'm doing when the neighbors call the cops on me.
😂...🤣
That faux-tempo drop, keeping the time with the hats, absolutely blew my mind. Marvelous
I don't know if he inspires me or makes me want to quit.
XD
Definitely quit ^^
+yourfirekiller Don't worry, be happy. It's no competition, just express yourself.
+yourfirekiller ...he inspires you to quit maybe?
+Mick #7 Its not about becoming better. You just have to make music, because we are MUSICIANS(Artists), Not athletes. Make music that you like because you love music and it is your craft. Plain and simple.
Chris is (IMHO) one of the best drummer on the planet right now. Unbelievable control and feel. I'm always mesmerized when watching him play.
The amount of precision of every hit, the polyrhythms, the speed, the crazy creativity, and how hard Chris hits the drums makes me watch all of his videos with my mouth open.
Is he wearing the tears of lesser drummers in a bottle hung from his neck?
whoiscornelius probably a Remo of Maxtone drum kit. something that would not be able to keep up with his swag!
Probably their spirit
whoiscornelius that is a very rad!!!!! Thing to say
whoiscornelius It’s gypsie tears
He'd need a much bigger bottle
Hot damn that was crunchy!! I heard his kit caught fire after he walked away.
Al Ebnereza it did catch fire at the 4:20 mark
Well. this is my new favorite drummer. He's got the package: Complexity, creativity, and speed.
Always come back here to watch the great Chris Coleman for inspiration 🙏
What did I just watch.....wow. I've not seen anyone connect with drums like that before, mind blowing.
Sonor should be flipping out these drums sound so good here. i am constantly knocked out by Chris, especially lately. i keep watching this recent stuff & have to think "this is the best drummer on the planet". SO much x-factor, flow & heart, he's insane.
Holy shit that was good. And hes such a heavy hitter too.
Lol, true that!
+Simon Carlsson GGG hits harder.
+Simon Carlsson That's funny because what first came to my mind after watching this video was "Holy Shit !!!" ;-)
+Shaun Solomon And so what ?
+Shaun Solomon Mike Tyson hits hardest. Holyfield knows that.
Chris Coleman is to me a great inspiration. One of the best drummers I've seen. He's playing is so full o joy, attitude, creativity and mindboggling patterns I haven't seen in any other drummer.
Wow! Technique and pure enjoyment he is putting across!
I still don't understand how some drummers can move that fast so flawlessly. I feel like a turtle trapped in concrete after watching this.
Very nice, felt like a true freestyle solo. Great timing, feel, dynamics, and the up/down roll reversals were clean as anything.
It’s not often you’ll see a drummer owning a kit to this extent. Awesome. Awesome.
Chris is both inspiring and deflating at the same time! I get inspired to play when I watch him, I get deflated after I realize he's in a entirely different class of drummers. Such a talent!
holy fucking shit these drums sound amazing!
Always a pleasure to listen to a master. The drums and cymbals sound really great too.
One of the most appealing drum solos I've seen for sure.
All about that organic sound! Mr. Killer on set indeed.
HOLY FKN SHIT!
This totally blown my mind, Chris is a Alien-machine on drums!
So freaking awesome, the sound, the light and smoke in background... can't be any better! Can't believe how sick this is :' D
coleman, jojo mayer, steve smith.. all different styles, but seems many of my favourite drummers play sonor.
Thomas Lang!
Jost Nickel :)
Benny Greb
Sonor must be doin' something right! @SonorDrumTube
tomas haake
With Chris, you always get the sense that you're moments away from all hell breaking loose. And you would be right every time.
As I'm laying in my bed watching this, I'm laughing hysterically. Not only because Chris Coleman is not human, but also because these drums sound sooooooo amazing.
The work gone into that snare from Sonar is pitch perfect. To achieve that slap and the punch at the same time is perfect balance in my opinion. Overall the kit and the cymbals are a dream come true. Sonar has always been the best in my book ...G...
Dude is super humble, you gotta love the guy.
This isn't just a musical masterpiece, it also might be the greatest example of an artist showing off their gear possible. Every single drum got so much individual love--you really get to hear the kit so well. Chris Coleman is one of the greatest drummers of all time, no doubt.
Sonor has always and continues to make The Rolls Royce of Drums. When you get that kind of tone from your drums - you raise your creative level 10-Fold in one sitting
This guy brings so much skill and passion to drumming, just glad he is in our world.
What else can you say?
Those drums sound beautiful and what a great solo! Very musical.
Chris Coleman making it look easy. Love it!
Definitely the best solo I've heard in a long time.
Probably the best sounding kit I've ever heard in my life. That snare drum is just perfect. Amazing player, beautiful drums!
I guess someone has to give great performances a 'thumbs down'. It wouldn't be youtube.
SOLID, I mean his bass hits were like never ending buttermilk pancakes. His hands went beyond the sound barrier. What a masterful and tasteful drummer Chris is!
So musical and together not to mention totally amazing
love this he's one of the nicest human beings too
Imagine sitting down at the kit having no idea what you're going to play, and having it sound epic every single time.
he makes his crazy speed look effortless. Amazing
Beautiful sounding kit. Stunning tones.
3:10 - 3:16 Chris Coleman is not human confirm.
Uberhawg confirmed.
Can confirm.
He's def Drum-derstrucker!
It's just practice, dude... Believe yourself.
@@WellMefisto its just a compliment dude! we all know Chris is human
90% of the time Chris plays, he's always smiling man. First was introduced to his style of drumming when he used to demo cymbals for Mycymbal. Fantastic drummer with a even better personality. would love to see him do a clinic Chicago, like at Vics Drum Shop or something. Reminds me of Matt Gartska. I used to glorify blast beat guys but i'm glad I've been really into drummers like Jojo Mayer, Tony Royster, Chris Coleman (of course), Jamie Postones, Matt Garstka, Troy Wright, and a whole ton of other unique dudes. Hope to meet atleast one of them soon.
djent is totally a genre Blast beat drumming is a dead end street, my man!
cbh440 haha, that is true my friend!
Glad to see your coming around,! Eventually u may come full circle and like weckls Vic firth solo video.
+djent is totally a genre Yea wouldn't compare Matt Gartska to this guy both great drummers but have totally different grooves
+dimetilldeath nah dude, 0:37 totally gives me a vibe thats reminiscent of Matt
Good god!!! Chris Coleman is unbelievable, I love watching him play!!
What a pleasure to watch and listen to Chris play!
One of the most diverse and precise displays of talent, practice, and dedication I've seen in a drum solo. Excellent.
Coopdrums finger resistance bands
wow that groove 2:00 - 2:30, really nice playing.. i like these birch tones too
He has amazing control of his striking , from soft to hard so naturally!
One of the best drum solos of all time.
That wasn’t stage fog, that was sweat evaporating from the sticks
Sonor. He understands dynamics. Swear this is a lost art.
YES..... and he understands it via TOUCH... he hits the drums differently to achieve different volumes and feels... much different than simply hitting harder and softer... but hitting with different intentions... and with different amounts of grip strength (which equals different amounts of stick resonances, which equals different drum resonance as well)... and "touch" is also how "into" or "on" the drum you hit... he uses the full range. Add on top of that the actual ideas, and you get a cool well rounded drummer with some artistry in there.... so few drummers do all of that stuff.
Beautiful sounding drums. Birch is the best.
This is one of my favorites. Wow!
In my next life, I want to be Chris Coleman. And Benny Greb. And Virgil Donati. In one.
His name is Matt Gartska hehe.
Michael Donahoe right on
Carmelo Miceli 😨😨😨😨😨
Michael Donahoe?????? 😕 he is really good,!! but... You need more drum education!
VIRGIL DONATI HE IS A MASTER!!! Master!! you know? a very complex drum concept
Definitely got that bass drum under complete control
+brett farv Both feet are incredible! His left is slaying the hats.
What a great guy and a talented drummer.
This man is a superior drummer
Good thing SONOR is over 18 years old
Sonor drums have such individuality about them. They all sound amazing but have a very distinct tone to them.
Lucidcreamin yoo. Check out Steve Smith set. At the buddy rich show. Fucking fire. An sounds sooooo. Sexy. That wet is alest ten stacks
I'm surprised that he uses Evans heads on Sonor. I thought Remo was like the heads of choice. Ya learn something everyday. LOLOLOL
Its the glue they use......dont tell anyone.
Hey BB if it's the glue it ain't workin. This is not a knock on Chris met him and the Sonor Rep in Toronto Canada decent guys and Chris is unreal as a player and a human being. Their tune safe isn't safe could never keep them in tune and you know it's true when the keyboard player says something never mind your bass player.. I got bent tuning lugs on the bass drum from the factory ... yes they sent me new ones it took a year no b.s... tried four sets of heads and could not get a tone that was decent. I've been playing for 40 years & yes that's my kit in the photo. The 3003's I have from China sound better. Not worth the money!!! Sold Them!!
One of the most musical drum monsters out there
For the very first time I just came watching a bloke. And I'm not ashamed.
Monster!
as i always said ... whoever dislike chris coleman playing must be a beiber's fan
+dickie darockman Dude that was so funny, I fell out of my seat, LOL!
Chris Coleman is a professional bass player as well .
Born gifted
Giovani22 “Born gifted” No such thing!
@@jacobmiskomusic Natural Talent ? Of course there's such thing
This guy is such a boss. He just owns the drums.
Man I would get kicked out of Home Depot if I brought my drums in there. Not Chris though............
fucking tasty and original
Chris this is the fifth time i have watched your video and every time i watch it, i hear something new. You are an amazing drummer buy far and that sonar kit is the best i have ever heard. I love how you set up in a wear house which is wear a lot of drummers have played in there lives , but wish they could have that kind of sound quality!
Preciate the Luv!
Perfect sound, great drummer.
Congratulations Chris Coleman.
I hope someone got this man a nice cool Krombacher after this performance.. ;)
Even better ... They got me a bottle of water 😂
Christopher Coleman LOL !
+Christopher Coleman (CrC) Nice! You´re such an Inspiration! Right now, I´m half way Through playing „GO“ Maybe I upload it and you probably will kill me for my bad playing 😉
+henne2k Haha, Preciate the luv ... Upload it! Don't worry about comp/opinions... Jus say what you want to say. At least you'll have #SaidSomething 👍🏿
Buddy Rich would be impressed.
Proud? What has pride to do with that? You should look up that word, idiot...
+dXb You must be really great at parties.
most definitely
dXb What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about proud, I said 'impressed'
@TheTallMan35 Lol dxb reads half the comment and instantly wants to insult. Some people
If we lived in a time where language was communicated solely through the act of drumming, Chris Coleman's speech would be so goddamn eloquent.
Insanely clean and precise. Just loved it! Thank you
He's got a looong way to go, he needs to focus on improving his speed and technical ability. But if he hangs in there and keeps working at his craft, he has a chance to make a name for himself.
Drumming isn't all about speed.
+anna blue That there would be what is called a "Joke". Look it up.
+FrustratedTurtle Thanks for breaking it down for Anna!
Hey smart guy I'm sure you understand that your ignorant comment carries no weight to Chris
+Mymuzik92 For fucks sake, it's obvious that Chris has some brutal technique and speed, ever heard of sarcasm?
WOW!!!!!!!!!! He is almost as good as Justin Beiber!!!!!!!!!!
But just almost. Bieber is by far the best drummer on earth.
Kevin Conway Bieber is a god on drums
Kevin Conway ... lol you can't be serious...... he's nowhere near as good as Justin Bieber.
Kevin Conway ... Justin is so good, he can play different beats that are so complex, they all sound exactly the same to the untrained ear.
That's why it seems like he's been playing the same thing since his first drum video.
Genius had us all fooled.
Kevin Conway man! I read this and shitted.... good thing I'm sitting on the toilet bowl. LOL!!
always coming back to check it! such a beatiful solo! so much to learn!
What an inspiration to go out and learn to play the drums.....man, I'm hooked.
luke cage
Nick Cassella 😭😭
Outwith Dave Weckl, this is one of the most musical drum solos I've watched. He's more powerful and solid-sounding than Weckl, who has a bit more finesse and sort of weaves around the beat. I still prefer Weckl, but this dude is great. Both excellent players with different approaches and musical backgrounds.
When Chris Coleman was about 14 y.o. he was given a CD of different drummers doing solos. Until that time he was doing nearly all gospel music. On the CD was (amongst several others) Dave Weckl, Steve Smith and Vinnie Colaiuta. These are the drummers that have influenced Chris's playing since the day he first heard them. As a young drummer Chris studied, analyzed and played Weckl stuff constantly for several years. You can definitely hear the Weckl influence in much of his playing today.
No insult to Chris but he is not even close to the creativity of Dave Weckl. Dave Weckl to me is the greatest drummer ever.
Smiling the whole time.. love his style !
A true virtuoso. Thank you for this masterpiece!
what is that thing round his neck? Cory Henry wears one of them too
The Rachmanioff were u able to find out wat it is, because I have searched but can't find anything on it
Its for keep tracking the tempo/beat. I fotgot what they call that thing. Basicly if doing band live they all will have that. So that everyone in the same beat/tempo.
He touches it at the end of the solo. Turning it off? Worshipful caress of a voodoo idol? I don’t know. If it was the latter it would explain a few things wouldn’t it.
Whats his crash on the right?
***** Some sort of sand crash I'd guess!
Looks to be an 18"-20" sand crash
It's a 20" Vintage Crash :-)
Thanks! Bought the 20" and 22"!
love the sound of that kit!!
A True inspiration! I'm not this fast but when I get this fast I will be making more than videos God bless you Chris!
The room is sweating.
This shit is way too hot.
Meh, here...hold my beer.
?
Very amazing drum solo! Chris Coleman is one of my favorite drummer!
What you think are unattainable inspirations are still inspiring to you. I just learned more in five minutes than I have the last 10 years. Just play the drums! So amazing! He is truly a master at his craft.
His playing is freakin amazing. And the Sonor drums sound great. Meinl cymbals, however, do nothing at all for me. They sound dead to my ears, like the old student ones made of brass.
At about 3:00 I start to seizure.
OMG. That was simply amazeballs.
wow... even when he plays fast hits so hard!!! great drummer
