- Soldering is a big part of our hobby. But there are some people that just don't like doing it or don't have the proper tools to do so. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to enjoy the hobby too. Holmes Hobbies has recognized the need for no solder power adapter to help people power up their accessories such as a high voltage servo, lights or even a winch. To get those items powered up, John has added power adapters to the Holmes Hobbies product line-up. The power adapters are available in a variety of plug types and allow you to plug JST plug accessories right into them. In this video, John will talk about the details of the adapters and even why you want to consider an adapter to avoid other problems.

You're videos are great, entertaining, silly and you manage to teach a bit without sounding to stuck up but still prove that you have the necessary experience.
Hope to one day get the ability to meet you in real life and experience first hand the knowledge you have
The humor you add to you vids is awesome brother. It really helps show you passion for tiny truck nation
I loved your press impression!
I'll have to get these. I already love using the BEC adapter cable you make to make adding a BEC easy. People who use BECs should know about that product, sure i could solder it, but why when HH can do it for me cleanly.
That’s a great idea! I m dumbfounded that I hadn’t even considered that as a solution!
I watch alot of the hydraulic press channel. Nothing more satisfying on youtube, besides your technical videos, or bob rocks.........thank you
But, soldering is one of the best parts of RC! lol Thanks John!
Damn damn there you go again John Holmes solving all my problems!!!
Great info and a excellent product as always👍👍
Okay, you get a like for the Hydroolik Prees chenool.
I ordered two of these last month with the xt60 I ordered one with the deans and I also ordered the dual bypass for the Bec so I have a couple of things that you actually put together it's pretty nice thank you. 🤙🏻🔥😎🔥👍🏻
Nice...quick and easy!
Nice! I like it. Thanks
Killer intro! You make us laugh & smile, that's a good thing! Oh ya, & good tech info too 😜
Great 👍 awesome quick and easy!
Hi love ur video's I have learned so much from them
Great info as usual Mr Holmes!!! I hate soldering. This is a quick fix for the 2in1 fusion i have on order for my Sport!!!🤘🤘🤘 Big Betty and little Betty look awesome on your shelf!!!
Great product John when it comes to electronics all hobbiest should listen to you it is your business and you make the best performance electronics in my humble opinion 😉👍
wow im new here... shouldve purchased this yesterday.
*update, just purchased one.
I'm glad you've started stocking these. I'll be needing one of the dual XT60 plugs for my steering and winch. You gonna make any using balance plugs for lower draw stuff like lights?
Damn I wished you did that a year ago when I was bad at soldering, I spent 7 hours a few weeks ago trying to solder a similar thing
Mmmmm Pie.... I love me some pumpkin pie... and some direct power accessories!
Yeap, I'll be ordering two of these.
i have 3 crawlers. i just started about 8 months ago. i love crawling. got a setup in the basement. but electrical makes me nervous. i want to start upgrades. you have awsome products. and me not knowing how to solder has held me back. this should open up some options for me...
I was about to make one for my new holms servo lol now ill just buy it "to help a small business of course "
Awesome product.
Out of curiosity wouldn't it be a better if the JST plug came off of the ESC side of the plug vs. the battery side? Just for routing of wires and the way they would lay. ESC side wires get moved/handled less than the battery side.
Hi John, I like your videos a lot and they do provide a wealth of information. My question may not be related to the topic but do you know if there could be a way to connect/solder the motor sense wire from traxxas light kit onto an aftermarket brushless motor like hobbywing fusion pro, which has 3 wires from motor(or esc?) Instead.
This is not extremely critical since most of the light kit functionality still seems to work without the motor sense wire but in some situations the light kit does behave awkwardly. I am sure if I am able to connect the motor sense wire then it would work smoothly always. Thanks!
I love your video! You make very easy to understand for us newbies with electronic RC vehicles!
I do have a question about a 4-pin JST plug. I have a Hobby Zone Carbon Cub S2 1.3m for my partner to train on, but it came with Spectrum electronics, where my partner and I use Futaba. There is a JST female plug to connect to for the different modes with 3 lights for the plane (Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced). Would this work like your video above (No Solder Plug and a 2-pin connector) with a 4-pin connector? If so, which wires would go to the possitive and which would go to the negative and also how to program the radio to switch between the different modes, or would it be connected directly without connecting to the receiver?
I can't quite visualize what you are asking, sorry!
I've recently purchased an shv 800 and I thought it was a plug-and-play type but I don't get the 4-wire system 2 for the jst and 2 for the signal and ground but when I plugged in both wires I think I was getting power from both the battery and receiver.... melted wires
Amazing!
I was about to switch all of my esc’s to IC3 because I just purchased a spectrum 2200 charger and some batteries. Do or can you make these for IC3?
Or would you recommend keeping all my existing escs on my crawlers to XT60’s and have an adapter for XT60 esc to IC3 battery?
Please make more with 60xt connector with jst connector
Sweet scale tent man!! oh, and how do I make one of those plugs?
Is this what I should use for power to the SHV800 with the Hobbywing Fushion pro 2in1?
Can you use these when connecting hobbywing fusion pro and Traxxas light kit?
Trx4m tarantula....went from 2s to 3s. Stock light which I like doesn't like the higher volts. Gets pretty warm but nice & bright. How can I knock those volts back down to 2s ?
Do you make one of these for an xt90 plug? Just added a hobbywing max g2 and would like to try a direct power servo. Thanks
When I order my esc from you guys, could you install 2 jst plugs coming out of the esc instead of 1?
I would love to have your knowledge of electronics, motors, etc. What are good starting point sources or books that I can read and learn from? Thanks :)
Neet help wiring a light bar on a Big rock
How do I plug my servos in my RC helicopter and what port do they go in
I jus ordered the hvv3 servo, what's the best place to put that jst plug ??
This is definitely gonna make powering up my shit on my sherpa so much easier
Hey brother-man, you do a great job for us all, but you've got hundreds (of thousands probably) looking for high performance brushed engines to put in their vintage rides. Pan cars, rc10s, old on roads all sorts of old whips that need good powerplants.
All the drop in brushed motors nowadays are turds. We need some 30,000 rpm 12 turns and stuff to keep us rollin!
We wind up handwounds upon request. I also have sport motors in production.
@@HolmesHobbies awesomesauce. Cant wait.
Is it possible to solder a castle 10amp bec to a hobby wing fusion system 🤷🏼♂️ or should I say is it safe
Awesome I need this!! Can you run a 6v-12v light bar “proline” off a 3s 1350mah 30c battery? A fully charged 3s is 12.4 correct?
You should be fine running that light bar direct power from your 3s battery and it is 12.6 fully charged (4.2 per cell)
@@JustinDDavis awesome, thanks!!
I have a trx 4 79 blazer and I am trying to run my lights I have the hobby wing 2300 would this setup work for me?
I have jst connectors on my 2s and 3s batteries and just ordered a new esc would I be ok to connect a jst to it instead of buying an re-soldering all my connectors to deans?
Love your channel ! I hope to see that 4 foot screwdriver soon ! BAHAHAHA
@HolmesHobbies could you make 1 with an ic3 plug
What do I do when I run 3s for the rig but the servo only takes 8.4v at max. Want to run the servo from batteri 2s but then how do I connect Them?
I have a 8274 rc4wd winch 1080 hobbywing esc with the flysky gt5. I would like to run my winch off a second battery. My lights as well. Can I do this?
Hi I just seen your vid about the xt60 adaptor for the servo? I believe that's how you explained it. Anyways I'm running a 1/10 buggy sky rc Toro 120 and ares pro comp 6.5 with a turnigy 5100 7.4 v 2s2p lipo. I'm having issues with foward being reverse and vice versa, and no steering. All new components. In the program card, when I select certain options, the asterisk doesn't change to the selected option. Any suggestion on any or all 3 of those issues? And (original ?) Powering the servo right now I just have the 3 pin wire from servo running to the receiver. Should I tie it into the esc via wire adaptor as shown in the above video? Thanks for any/all help you might give, in advance. I'm new to the hobby and I'm kind of just going off gut feeling and you tube videos. But I'd like to learn best possible scenarios when I can. So, again, i appreciate any help.
How would I do direct power for three servo?
do you offer this but with a futaba end instead JST Connectors?
I have a question for u I need so help I have made my own lighting kit for my hsp Truck can I solder a jst connector on the balance plug of a 2s battery
😂😂😂 this is good very good!
Fairly new to the rc world. Replaced the stock electronics on my 10.3 Gladiator with a Mamba X and A Puller Pro V2. (Hhheeeyyyy!). Not good at soldering and now I have the lights from the body that have nowhere to plug in. Is this an alternative? It’s a different plug though, they’re more like the plugs coming off the servo.
The lights run off 6.0volts max. This direct power lead will supply battery voltage so anywhere from 8.4v on 2s upwards depending on battery. So it will blow your lights.
You can use a spare slot on your receiver if your bec voltage is set to 6.0v. If your servo is stock spektrum servo it is also 6.0v only also. So all good.
You will need to fit an external bec to power an upgraded servo at higher voltage, or use a direct power servo and the lead John is showing in this video.
Cheers mate 👍
While I don't want to necessarily support the idea of buying into the hobby rather than learning, it's good to think that this will save some people from burning down their rigs. What's the story on the tiny pop tent? ⛺
Stole it from the kids toy box, lol!
Want this burn up the servo ? How many volts will it send to servo being it's say a 4s with 14volts and your servo can only run maximum 7.4 volts are 8.4 volts?
My servos take 2 to 4s input, I brought the concept of direct power servos to market nearly a decade ago now.
Got a question: is it possible to solder a JST plug to a Hobbywing 1080 esc ?
Not a prob
I have a question about running my lights of the balance lead of my battery. I use an online calculator to work out the right resistor for my circuit, lets say 13v. Make up my light circuit too run of my 3s battery balance lead. Does this harm the battery running the lights of the balance lead of the battery.
No problem, just don't forget to unplug!
Thanks. I have always wondered if what I was doing was ok for the battery
Man I'm so bummed I love hydraulic presses
I lov electronic s send me a pile john no one here sells your epic gear
I have bought a couple similar to of these off Heyok. Very useful, but if tight for space they can be awkward.
😂😂😂 what's up holmesss
Electricity, electronics, and computers have always been ascending levels of magic and ultimately EVIL-magic IMHO. When you're explaining this stuff could you go a little slower for us guys raised on the more moral/visible doctrines found in 'mechanical' engineering? Lol :-D
CZcams has a half speed playback option!
@@HolmesHobbies I made a simple request to be more aware of viewers less familiar with electronics and all involved and you comeback with a smartass answer. NOT a good way to further your brand.
