Srila Prabhupada has said that in any organization there should be one lead man who can control and guide the whole organization. If that is not there then we get a free for all of various presentations with no firm standards.This is so neccessary and it's lack shows the disparities. The preaching of some "leaders" is not inline. Many should never have been given that post at all and harm the real intention of Srila Prabhupada.There is no one above them to instruct them properly in what they should be doing so they do whatever they want and become popular and get donations ect.from foolish people. Even when found out about their less than ideal activities they are not always removed. We want to have faith in the organization but when such nonsense is going on it is not at all helpful in the least. Hare Krishna AGTSP.
Removing guru's dependency on any institution is something a guru must do. Depending on an institution means one is not a brahmana and should not occupy a position of a guru.
There is History and on going. Well known to many devotees. Bridge preaching "gurus" and motivational "gurus" and sentimental preaching do not represent the real focus of Srila Prabupada and yet they have many followers. Cheap and very watered down presentations are not what the soul needs.
Actually, as I see it, there is no need of having a lot of initiating gurus or many down to earth grhasthas initiating. If there are proper down to earth grhasthas they can act as siksa gurus, the initiating guru can appoint some devotees which he sees are properly in line with the parampara. Of course, no one is forced to accept the suggestion, but it could be a way to avoid disciples being victimized by random authorities who may want to take control over them for selfish purposes.
