  • Update May 21!
    I am slowly in the process of demonetizing all my videos, I was never in it for the money or the glory. I just like to help people. This way you can rest assured i'm not making a video only to trigger an algorithm or as click bait. I have been a bit disillusioned with it all lately, and hopefully this will help.
    Instead if you wish to support me you can buy me a coffee or beer instead :) entirely your choice though!

    Great video! Very handy - completely new to APP so need as many easy-to-follow tutorials on broken down sections as possible. This helped me reprocess my M3 and there are now colours instead of white stars yay!

    Thank you for sharing your video on star calibration,very helpful, your Milky Way image at the end of the video just popped out, lovely colours in the stars, all the best to you at Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.

    PixInsight now has something similar, Spectrophotometric Color Calibration.

    Thank you for sharing your new calibration techniques. Im keeping a link check, for when i need a revision. 😊 But who shows you?
    Maybe we will get a clear sky off Santa for Christmas.

      Who shows me? Like how to do stuff? :) I'm actually self taught 🙈 my only thing I can say is that I get really obsessive about learning things and then end up researching them to death haha. Fingers crossed for clear skies soo n. This astro season has been very poor

    Thank you for the video but could you expand on 'best fit' on the star chart - I don't get what I should be looking for.

    hows this work for a dual band filter image?

    Hi Stacey, Excellent tutorial. I've watched it a few times now, however I am not getting what you mean about the 'best fit' when adjusting the slopes. Perhaps you could explain what we are trying to achieve ?

    • @AstroStace
      @AstroStace  Před 3 lety

      Hi Nigel the aim is to get the trend line to fit best with your star sample.

      @@AstroStace Thanks for replying Stacey, I appreciate it. I'm really sorry but I still don't get it. What does a "better fit" look like ? Not trying to be difficult, just want bto make better images !

    • @AstroStace
      @AstroStace  Před 3 lety +1

      @@nigelgoodman9028 so your stars sample should be plotted on the graph. Then you’ll have a green trend line and what you want is your star sample to lie along that line as best Z you can get it :) the line will change as you change the settings, and you’ll see a change in your image. You just have to try and get it “to fit” as best you can

    Great help. This calibration always changes the color of my Ha nebula to orange, away from red. Is there any way I can avoid this. I use OSC.

      You can try selecting the option for balancing RGB instead, to see if it gives a better result :)

    Came to learn color calibration.
    Learned quantum mechanics instead.
