    We got up to Tug Hill this past week and stayed in Redfield. Couldn't ride from the cabin so we trailered to the Hook and Ladder and rode from there. It was getting thin all week but we had a blast. This is going to be an every year thing as long as we can do it. Great people and great food. Hopefully next year we have more snow and can ride all over the trail system. Also my father just bought a 24 MXZ 850 non turbo and took it up there for the first ride. We have had Cats for years but I really liked the ride and the power. I told him you guys love your Doo's! Great vid as always

    PB, I thought it was great that you included this failure in your video. It goes to show even new machines can have mechanical or electrical issues. What's not right is the dealer charging you for not finding the problem sad. As far as the recoil can't the fuses be relocated within wire harness length to accommodate the recoil? MM

    OK so we have ran into this problem on mountain sleds, and it turns out that you have moisture more than likely and your button that you push we've had it where we've had to take them off and there is been some rust and stuff in there from getting moisture in over the years, so if it was me, I would be taking that apart and just looking inside to make sure because I think that's your problem ours it wasn't that they wouldn't start. They wouldn't go in and out of reverse which is virtually the same thing, same kind of button.

    I had the exact same problem with my 2021 Renegade X 600R. Since my dealer could not duplicate the problem at their shop, Ski-Doo would not reimburse them for the warrant work. The problem would only occur when the sled had been ridden and was warm. The problem could not duplicated by idling the sled for up to 20 minutes. I eventually figured out that if the sled was allowed to cold down, it would start every time. For the entire 2022 riding season once the sled was started in the morning, it would not be turned off unless it could sit for a half hour before needing to be restarted. I eventually traded it in on a 2023 Blizzard.

    Also the problem that’s happening is your pinion and spring on the starter is getting dirty and starting to stick. When u spun the clutch it broke the pinion free. The starter on the 850’s are internal. One way to fix this is to clean the starter by opening the flywheel cover and blast it with break clean. This makes even more sense to instal your recoil after this procedure because you’ll already be halfway done.

You will have to start it by the clutch and you'll have to work the cover over the spinning clutch. I've done it so many times it's no big deal. Last thing, as we spoke about before, you can do an annual maintenance by spraying down the starter gearing under the plastic cover where the pull start would be. I use silicone spray and you'll see the black grime coming off of it.

      I have about 2900 miles on mine now. When I first had the smart shox module installed on my sled the smart shox were absolutely amazing! Best ride ever hands down but then the shocks needed a rebuild which I did before this season. They just didn't feel the same again. They were much better in the beginning of this season when they were freshly rebuilt but only 500 miles later and I found myself running in sport mode because comfort mode was to soft and bouncy. Now it could have been this seasons absolutely horrible conditions and it was like riding on concrete sometime but My brother Zuke was saying how good everything felt on his new to him Blizzard. That could also be just because the blizzard rides so much better than any of his other sleds. I was thinking I may not get them next time unless I notice a great improvement on decent trails next season. They also need to change the smart shox switch to a button that just cycles through the three modes because it is impossible to change into sport mode will riding. What are your thoughts?

    Certainly beyond frustrating that BRP first of all doesn't include a normal recoil starter with sled, but then designs the newer sled so that emergency recoil starter cannot even be installed. I say "emergency" because when my friend installed it on his 2018 Blizzard 850, the pull handle was actually stowed under/behind a panel. All this while knowing full well there has been issues with the electric starters for years. It gets old and frustrating quickly. The seasons keep getting shorter, and the cost goes up. Then when there is an opportunity to ride, there are neeedless time and money wasting break downs and failures. How are you and your group doing with clutch rollers?

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy Před 4 měsíci +1

      I agree. Beyond poor design for a recoil. As far as secondary rollers go, Gary and Shag have both had failures on previous sleds but I don't think they have replaced the rollers on their current sleds. If one of them did it would be Gary since he bought an extra set of rollers at the time.
      If you check out my pre-season video that I made this season I had the secondary rollers replaced as a precautionary measure.

      No. Because this video was filmed before you asked me to. I haven't seen them since January 21st. I'll try to remember next time I'm there.

      @Paisteboy Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah. It does stink. I'll have to figure something out. At least your buddies have a recoil.

    If your sled is still under factory warranty shouldn’t have had to pay labor. Aftermarket extended warranty I can understand. BS they didn’t find anything wrong. It acted up wouldn’t start. Something is failing there are no “flukes” in my opinion. To give the sled back and say they couldn’t find anything wrong is poor customer service.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy Před 4 měsíci +1

      I do have to say I was disappointed and they couldn't install a recoil either.
      Thanks for watching.

      Exactly! Most mechanics today are clueless when it comes to troubleshooting electrical issues. I get the crap the dealers can't fix all the time.
      Worked 40-years on aircraft electrical systems, sleds are childs play! If all checked out, with solenoids a known issue it should have been replaced under warranty at no cost to the customer!

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah. I was surprised. I may have to get a second opinion on the recoil. After all, ski-doo said you couldn't put scratchers on my sled because of the smart shox but Smith Marine was still able to do it. Thanks for watching Jeff.

    It's so dumb ski doo doesn't put recoils on those sleds.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy Před 4 měsíci

      I get it but at the same time, I would have never used it once on my 2016 Ski-Doo Blizzard that I had for 6 seasons. It's so rarely needed that they omitted them from a stock sled.
      I can see it from both sides but wish I had one right about now. lol. Thanks for watching.

      Was wondering what was the problem with your sled. No harm no foul. My channel is no edit and just Milwaukee tool vidz. Not really a CZcamsr so I have no room to speak.
