I have always ADORED these two!🌹 And very honestly, if I had Jeff Bezos’ mega-billion$, I’d pay, and commission Sony to crank out 12 of those power amps for a media room/ soundstage that truly rocks!🌹
I own this among other Sony preamps. I like a little more resolution than this one offers. A smooth and warm sound, too much of it for me, maybe. Another thing that I don't like is the use of SMD components and also that its circuitry is mounted in aluminum plates, making it much more difficult to repair if something goes wrong.

That's a very difficult process, the outcome is probably unattainable.
There's no straight wire with gain in real use. I'm disappointed that you didn't find a flavor, nuanced, obviously, from this preamp.
