In India we just got the Skoda Slavia yesterday, which is essentially the sedan version of the Fabia. Interior is the same as the Fabia, but in a dual-tone colour scheme. For India the VW group is using a lower cost MQB-A0 platform known as MQB-A0-IN. The Slavia gets a pair of TSI motors only. 1L TSI with 115hp & 178Nm of torque, and the 1.5L TSI EVO with 150hp and 250Nm of torque. Both 1L & 1.5L TSIs get a 6 spd manual or a 6 spd torque convertor (1L TSI) / 7 spd DQ200 DSG (1.5L TSI).
3 other cars are present on this MQB-A0-IN platform; Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun (T-Cross for export markets from India) and upcoming Volkswagen Virtus (Global Reveal on 8th March)

I recently took delivery of my new Fabia colour edition, same spec and engine as this test car, the only difference is the colour, mine is velvet red, I am highly delighted with it, having been a long time Škoda owner, (and enthusiast), surprisingly I was mind blown how good it is, even coming from my last generation Fabia Monte Carlo.
My only concern was the price, but then in these times, apart from a couple of exceptions, it is hard to find a new ‘budget’ car sub £20,000, sadly long gone are the days of unpretentious, low cost, no frills cars from Eastern Europe, such as the Lada , Yugo, FSO, and of course the pre Volkswagen Škoda range, I was very fond of these family workhorses, they offered new car ownership at used car prices, and despite the cruel and unwarranted jokes, did have a fierce and loyal following.

Sorry but whilst I know it's top of the range at £20k that's not cheap plus like the video I watched of the VRS Kodiaq it has those stupid plastic covers on the alloys which you might as well have a set of steels with wheel trims in their place. Bottom line, I'd have the Sandero Stepway over that and pocket the change. I'm sorry also I don't get the while "Golf" thing as the Golf is the most boring car ever.
