    I feel bad for Nyck. He is talented, look at his junior career and success in FE and WEC, but he will largely be remembered as “the guy who failed in F1”

  • @rhodrage

    Tsunoda has gone on record of saying De Vries taught him a lot about racing, namely setup. And boy, is Tsunoda doing very well at that now.

    He got burned by RB. He's a very good driver. They wanted to bring Danny Ric up quickly and still didn't get a better result.

    I think Nyck has a future in F1 outside a race seat. His input on car setup and so is apparently incredible, Yuki stating earlier this season that the team is still benefiting from it

  • @rolandruesch6862

    Nick was in the wrong team. Horny needed a seat for his buddy and we know how that worked out for the team.

    Nick got sacked before his development of the Alpha Tauri was added to the car. Saw how later half of the season how the car became so much better. But also De Vries as Merc Test driver the Merc still was doing very well, until Mick became Merc Test driver, the Merc became worser. Nick should had gone to Williams and would had less pressure from Red Bull.

  • @MK384
    @MK384 Před 28 dny +36

    I think Nyck should have stayed with Williams. He would still be in F1 at this point but then again, Logan S is needed to get more US fans invested in F1

      @@edgarabarca1532 indeed you are right but I think in the eyes of F1 owners, Logan S is an American face that represents the US. Just like how Honda needs Yuki Tsunoda in Alpha Tauri and will probably get rid of Danny Ricciardo in favor of Lawson.

    His Formula E title like you said, was on paper. Half the season he finished in the teens. I do think Helmut pulled the plug too soon on Nick but that’s F1 and more specifically that’s Helmut. Did the same thing with Albon and Gasly at the big team. They’ll do the same with Daniel Ric this year if he does t pick up the pace. Not sure what Liam is up to in his series and if he could leave before he’s finished? I think he’s in Japan?

    Honestly, he chose the wrong team but he seems to be doing really well now and I almost feel like he’s better off out of the media circus. That is Formula One even seeing the difference in him now that he’s driving endurance. It’s so much clearer that he actually looks happy. I think he have chosen the right team for Formula One like one that doesn’t have a history of throwing drivers away constantly when they’re tired of them and a team that doesn’t expect perfection unless you’re one of their golden boys He would’ve done OK.

    De Vries is a perfect example of showing that just because you did well in other racing types does it mean you’ll be successful in F1. There is so much pressure and every race has consequences when you’re a rookie. Without tons of money coming in, it’s even worse. Add in that his over confident personality wasn’t welcomed by the team and fans, he was done quick

    Problem is, that stupid beloved Honey Badger thought he could swoon the higher ups, in order to Regina George poor Nyck out of his drive. Grass isn't always greener on the other side. Alpha Tauri did him dirty, all because Daniel regretted his decision to huff and puff and leave his drive behind 3 yrs ago.
