- Meet Scott, a technologist for Michigan Residence Imaging. In this video Scott will take you through the procedure of receiving an MRI for your knee. Real video representation plays alongside narration to help give a better understanding of this twenty-minute operation and ease any concerns you may have about your own appointment.
For anyone going in for a knee MRI, and is claustrophobic (like I am) here are some tips that helped me!
1. You will not be all the way inside the MRI machine, your chest & up will be sticking out. (So you’re going feet first)
2. If you can’t keep your eyes closed, focus on a spot on the ceiling.
3. DO NOT LOOK INTO THE TUBE. & Control your breathing so you don’t freak out. Breathe in and count to 4 slowly, exhale and count to 5 slowly.
4.Keep telling yourself that if you need out, you have the option to press the grey ball but you will not. It’s mind over matter.
Hope this helps ya’ll! Ya’ll got this!
I'm in the same boat - My MRI is this evening. I've been waiting a LONG time for this!
I just couldn't go in without knowing what to expect. This vid was great.
Ja o týždeň
I'm incredibly anxious to have this done tomorrow, but this video helped a lot! Thank you!
Same me how did it go?
I am due to have this on March 9th and I suffer with anxiety disorder since I found out I have been worried sick but now I feel completely at ease thank you
I have one tomorrow. I was worried about going completely into the tube. This video was awesome and i have no more worries!! Thank you!! Also none of the videos i watched, mentioned the fact that the machine uses incredibly powerful magnetic forces to take the picture. If you have any metallic implants you're not gonna want to participate in this!!!
I had this done yesterday, how did you do?
I had my 1st ever MRI. I was nervous at first but when I saw it was open I was relaxed. I had my right knee done, also my low back was done.
I was nervous like yourself but they made me feel at ease and it well very well, but isn't it noisy? but I didn't mind as I know I was receiving the best available treatment.
I have to get an mri done on my knee as well. Do they inject you with a dye.
I wish someone would just make a full video of the knee mri. I just had one. I was relieved to be told that my chest and head would be outside the machine but was also surprised when my metal belt started vibrating violently. I had to shout out to the technician to stop the machine. Going in I had expected to undress and be in a hospital gown but she told me noAlso - nobody told me that the machine was going to be so loud. IN FACT it was practically deafening with all the racket it made.
Hi, good video-you forgot to mention the initial questions every patient has to answer before the MRI examination, though, like if you're allergic to anything, if you've got any metallic implants, etc...
Can’t wait for my results on my knee
Getting this done soon
Had exactly in every detail the same scan the other evening as I have a bakers cyst and they need to be sure that there is nothing else going on,does anyone know if this shows a cyst-like a bakers cyst in good detail as when I get the results I would love to see what its like when shown on the scan video or does anyone have a link showing a bakers cyst after having an MRI scan...Thank you
Getting one today!

@@Alyssakendrickk nope not at all they only made me get undress and put on a hospital outfit then they put me on the table and put me in. It’s really not as bad I thought it was something really different but it was super easy.

I have to go for this and I and claustrophobic so I am going to frecking out
I"m having an MRI on my knee tomorrow and I was pretty scared... this video helped a lot. Im still kinda claustrophobic about going chest deep in the machine but I hope all is well... fingers crossed! Thanks Scott
how was it? i have claustrophobia i’m having mine next wednesday
@@jdn2sick turns out it was actually not to had. I hurt my back tho so laying flat on the solid surface was the biggest issue I faced. I actually found it rather relaxing weirdly enough lol
@@melleydee hey well that’s good lol, hopefully mine won’t be too bad. what happened to your knee ?
@@jdn2sick turns out I have genetic arthritis in my knee so what I was dealing with was swelling that pressed against that arthritis and not a torn ligament as I had first thought. Since then I’ve had it flare up once or twice and they said to manage the pain with Voltaren gel and antiflammitory tablets
@@melleydee aw that sucks im so sorry about that!!
Having this done tomorrow I was scared but now I'm not thanks
I had an image last year it was very loud. Being in tight spots don't bother me but the noise did.
how long was yours I'm kinda scared of doing it tomorrow
Probably like 20-30 minutes long. Just be very still as you know. Good luck!
Juan Franco did you get music?
No I didn't. I got earplugs an that was it.
Cant you go by yourself ? Are you medically insured ?
Music of choice? Today they gave me some builders ear defenders.. NHS cutting costs I suppose
Im 11and mine took 45 minutes
Have you had it yet? I am due for a head scan next month and am freaking out! What part are you having scanned? If it is the waist down then don't worry!I have had knee done , It is noisy! But being claustrophobic I am thinking of pulling out !
I'm 17 and getting one done tomorrow and I've never had one and I'm so nervous that I'm gonna have to have surgery
omg same I'm 17 too. 😂😂 I have to get a scan on 1/6 due to my dislocated knee 😭😭
@@HeavyBreathingCat i have same knee issue.. Do u get ur mri done?
Im getting this tomorrow bro I disoclated a knee
Cost?
Ya I see a metal belt buckle on his waist
But I am not tall I wonder is it gonna be same thing for me aswell because I don't want my whole body go in there.
I had an mri on my knee today and failed to finish it...I can't find any place where it talks about what my experience was like. My knee is injured and I'm unable to straighten my knee, I told the tech this and he placed heavy weights on my knees to force my knee straight (which hurt) and then tied my ankles together with rubber bands. I'm not usually claustrophobic but I found this unsettling....I was in a great deal of pain and survived for about 20 minutes before I knew if I went on I was going to throw up. He tried to convince me to continue but I couldn't and he chided me that I would just end up coming back. I was sad that I failed but I had NO idea that this procedure included forcing my leg straight or tying my ankles together. When I first got out I couldn't unlock my leg and I've been in pain since returning home. I am petrified that I may have to do this again. This video looks like a test I could have handled...I got no headphones, no music....just the tech interrupted once to tell me to not move my leg. (At one point my legs began to tremble uncontrollably and I had no way to prevent this, it was like shivering...I had no control). I hope this was a bad experience and if I try again I won't fail. :(
fuck u r scaring me.
oh oh.i m.going for mri..to scan my injured knee...i doing exercises to help straightened my knee....aftr hearing ur experience..heavy weights etc...m having second thoughts now.....
eshirlene oh no! Not being able to straighten my knee is why I looked up this procedure. 😭 Well I got my answer.
My lord. Update please. I'm going Saturday.
@@shashamarie4760 did you have to fully straighten it?
After the MagneticRI my knee started to attract spoons&forks!!
Just had an MRI this morning now here’s a good pointer for anyone with piercings…. Before trying to rip your … ears, nose, nips etc…. Get yourself a magnet if it doesn’t stick to the magnet you’re perfectly fine..
My knee has been hurting since last year September or October I banged it on a locker on accident and every single night my knee has been hurting me sooooo bad. Even right now. Today December 29th 2012. And last year I hurt it at like September or October 2011
same thing is happening to me.. every night my knee is hurting.. i cant sleep. did u found out what it was?
Well that man had a metal belt buckle on his belt lol a deffo no no magnetic lol
no, its the tie on the pants.
Hip aur thaih ke mri ka vedio dikhaya jay
They told me just to the hips
Mere legs m bhut derd hoti h
My MRI only took half the time mine took 10 minutes
What is the part you did?
i had 45mins
So for a MRI of the knee your whole body doesn't go in to the machine? I have to get one for my right but I'm asking questions since I'm claustrophobic too
How'd it go? I've got a knee MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning, 1/7.
How long did it take? And are your arms out of the machine? I had one for my foot years ago and was able to bring a book in to read. I’m wondering if I can do the same for a knee mri.
@@Laz10777 Hey. I was in up to the chest area. You have to keep your arms lying flat; no holding a book to read.
Terry G how long did it take? I’m 6ft2 so I was hoping my arms would be out to read a book to keep busy during the exam.
@@Laz10777 Mine took about 25 minutes. Take the book with you; your technician may say it's okay. Won't know until you ask.
feel sorry for all the people commenting about how long it took them to get their mri, i got mine in 2 days. :)
In 3 hours
Hi cutie!!
am*
I’m claustrophobic and it went up to my neck. I told them hell no get me out of there.
so u didn’t have the scan? How tall are you by the way?
@@Laz10777 I’m 5’5” it was just suppose to be of my leg. Nope.
@@billymatthews7623 it’s only suppose to be like 20 minutes man. If you have a problem and your doctors advising for the mri you should get it. Did you take a sedative before? I am claustrophobic too and am having one next week. I’m going to take two attivan before and just relax. Going to see if I can bring a book in to keep my mind focused. I’m 6 ft 2in so I’ll be out a little further than you
😊
getting mine tomorrow 😅
Me too I’m very nervous
@@Elissasinterlude you're gonna be good girl!! You might feel a little weird after but I promise once you get in there it's not bad! I moved a lot and had to do it a few times but other than that, it was easy
@@_june101 did they inject dye into you ?
MRI
hi
ok. imagine that WITHOUT headphones and WITHOUT communication for 45 MINUTES. I just experienced that few hours ago.
mri of brain is better experience
mee 2
I always move my knees dman but im happy because its done anyway.
Bronson na men just my lower body.
get mine tonight tore my mcl acl and pcl fuck my life
+PA Anglers Hey I tore my ACL and have my MRI tomorrow, what's your recovery process? What happens next? Also, hope you heal soon!
+Rahib Shaikh well u had my mri done they actually found out I had also torn my lcl and mcl so I had to wait for those to heal before I was able to do my acl surgery... I had the acl surgery March 8 and am already walking easily with no crutches still have trouble staying asleep throughout the night but during the day I have little to no pain at all... the worst was the first week after the surgery but thwy give u alot of medicine to take that helps
+Rahib Shaikh also if u have an option of what kind of surgery u get I would go with the one that uses a piece from the cadaver that way u won't have to have 2 things heal then but lots of physical therapy I go 3 times a week for 12 weeks but on week 3 of my physical therapy I was able to bend my knee to 125 degrees and walking by week 4
My MRI has been delayed for a little while, and hugs props to you for your recovery. I hope it goes very very well. One question, did your lcl and mcl heal itself automatically? Did they have to do something for that? I hope it gets easier for you and that you start running at full pace again soon.
yes the mcl and lcl healed on their own
Hell no
Getting one today!
Got my letter today to have an MRI on my knee next week, it says they they may inject dye?? I'm more worried about the injection than the actually scan. So my question is do you have to have the dye injection for a knee MRI? Does anybody know?
No. I do have MRI lt is a contrast injection
