  • We learned a lot during our car camping test run. We were able to reserve a spot at a Minnesota State Park that I loved going to when I was younger. So, we had to spend the day getting the car ready for the trip, in 95 degree weather! In this video, you will see how we tackled the issues. Next month we will have the video from our first official camping trip! Stay tuned and enjoy our Park Adventure videos in the meantime!
    Enjoy!

This second attempt at the SUV camping setup worked well for us in the 2020 season! Would this setup work for you?

Sorry about that. This was one of our first videos when we didn't know a lot about the video recording process. There is another video we did while taking down the bed setup that should be a bit easier to see. czcams.com/video/xJY0mK0dDdI/video.html

Looking for a SUV youse for beach camping. How long is your finished bed? How tall are you and what position do you sleep in? Thanx, Bill

Bill, we will have a video soon with dimensions, but the finished space fits a full mattress topper almost perfectly. The size of the one we got is 74 inches long by 52 inches wide. I'm 5' 10" and still have a little room. We built the bed to access from the back hatch, so our heads are facing the front of the car. Thanks for watching!

What's the length? I'm 6'3 and buying a car rn, so I need a good amount of length space wise back there. (191cm)

I'm 5' 10" and there was about 3-4 inches left before I hit the back door. I think someone else commented that it was 74 inches by 52 inches with the back seats down.

When I camped in my 2020 sportage I just folded the rear seat down and put a blow up air mattress back there and it worked fine.

We tried that as well, but it wasn't as comfortable for us that way. The downfall of us being old, I guess!
