- This Episode features a re-enactment of part of the life of Prophet Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana (1873 - 1939). Ratana was a key influence in Māori politics and religion. For years virtually all Māori MPs were followers of the Ratana faith and supported the Labour Party on his instruction. The influence of Ratana remains strong.
Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana and his representatives, still draw politicians of all persuasions to the gatherings and meeting place at Ratana Pa in January each year to mark the anniversary of his birthday, where the faith, the land and issues of the future are discussed.
Though the tie to the Ratana Church is not as strong today, each year sees all major political parties attending the hui at Ratana Pa. As Labour MP Peter Tapsell says in the documentary: "Ratana has been a movement more than a simple religion. It has brought people together across tribal boundaries ... they've managed to maintain an ability to stand on their own feet and to stick by their ideals ... and that has given them a strength, and I think a growing strength."

12 kilometers East of Whanganui .... I find this very moving and powerful. Especially the Methodist Church in Japan meeting and forging an alliance. Especially After we heard that King George the 6th would not meet Ratana.
The children in the car. His oldest daughter still as an elderly lady having the strength to " carry the cloak"
