Buachaille Etive Beag, Glen Etive, was my last outing of 2019 which was a brilliant day! Sid and I had an early start and the conditions were great, changing to even better as the day went on.
The ridge features two Munros and the aim was to bag both that day with a sunrise in between. While we didn't get the sunrise that I hoped for we did get a bit of a fire show.
This is the last video I have made under the title 'Behold Scotland' because I just wasn't feeling the name and it was holding me back a bit I felt.
I hope you continue to follow my outings and I will explain the changes is my next vlog.
A happy, belated, New Year to you all and we'll see you outdoors!

I know mate. It's a fair weather mission for myself just now. To do it in the snow would be amazing but I'd need a guide / professional lead to tackle it in those conditions.
Who knows, it might still be there by the time we're out of lockdown.
Have you climbed any of the Glencoe area hills?

Thanks Danny, it finished up a blinder of a day and we bimbled around the summit of Stob Dubh chin-wagging with other walkers. I think we all had the same feeling.
Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you liked the pictures.

@@AScotsmanOutdoors it was great, couldn’t see a thing due to mist but what an enjoyable route,we parked opposite the beehive cairn just before the bend to the glencoe falls and the path up to the first summit was great and had such character with the large stones criss crossing over the water 👍🏻

I know the feeling of not being able to see anything at the summits 🙄😄
My dog enjoyed getting his nose down onto the streams at the crossing points on the way up.
How was it for weather apart from the fog / mist? Was there snow?

@@AScotsmanOutdoors the weather was fine apart from the mist and some drizzle,a bit damp but perfect for walking as you didn’t get too hot.No snow unfortunately but probably just as well as the paths would have been covered as we were first up the hill

Eventually you were rewarded with some absolutely stunning skies. I do landscape drawings from my trips to the Highlands and I might manage one day in every four with ideal conditions. There is never a completely blue sky in any of my pictures. It is astonishing how little snow there has been in Scotland the last few years, and when it comes, it comes very late, like the Beast from the East. I was last in Scotland the week before the lockdown and there was a fair amount of soft powdery snow, with little indication that the ground had ever frozen hard enough to keep the snow cover on the mountains all winter.

      @AScotsmanOutdoors  Před 4 lety

Hi Tony, firstly, thanks for watching. I did eventually get my reward and it was absolutely stunning!
It's very rare there isn't a cloud in the sky here and when it is like that I like a good moan that it's too hot lol.
There has been a lack of decent snow in the lowlands and I had to head to Glencoe and above this year to find any (pre-lockdown). I did get a great view in and around Glen Nevis but the falling snow the following day was like sleet if anything, still nice.
Do you have your paintings anywhere that I could have a look, as in online?
Again, thanks for watching and take care 👍🏻

Thanks mate, I thought it needed a bit of a change because I didn't get the feels being 'Behold Scotland', it was a bit too impersonal for me if I'm honest. I'm basically a Scotsman who goes outdoors so what better to name it, without putting my actual name out there 😂
Thanks for watching again and a Haooy New Year for 2020 👍🏻

I know!! It was brilliant to start and just kept getting better and better. The path is good but had a wee portion of sheet ice half way up which was easy enough to skirt around.

Hey mate, we pretty much did save for about three others which was great.
Events with Cooper took a sad turn for us. There were a few wee episodes of slight aggression showing with him and one night he gave us a fright with his behaviour towards me, as in aggression.
We re-contacted the rescue centre and they let slip that he had bit a handler previously which they didn't disclose. Sadly, we were forced to return him because we have young children and really couldn't take the risk. It was heartbreaking and a failure on the rescue centre. If we had known he had acted like that to a handler then we would never have attempted to rehome him. It's gutting because he'd began cementing a place in our family.

It definitely was mate, definitely was. Worst part was we had to wait four days to be able to take him back. It was four days of dread, scratching our heads, thinking if it was right to take him back, did we pay for a trainer, would he ever be trained, was it a phase etc. Not easy by any account and tears all round.
