I saw many honor guard shifts. Look at the soldiers trained tremendously.
They are the best honor guards in the world. I want to say that they are the best of the best in the honor guard worldwide.

Taiwan's military training is deeply rooted in prussian doctrine.
Nazi Germany and the Wehrmacht sent officers and trainers to train the Kuomintang Army to fight the Japanese Empire prior to WW2. It eventually stuck even after the US supported Taiwan after WW2 with their own training and equipment.

Dont get me wrong this is extremely impressive. But i cant help but wonder the logic behind the marching? It seems so... inefficient.

Elaborate changing of the guard ceremonies were originally meant to ensure the post is being turned over to members of your own army and not to impostors. Over time, it became more about entertaining or educating civilians and about honor.

Bravo to the Taiwanese guards and militaries even though mighty nations are bearing down on you and your tiny (nation) but yet you are undeterred. You stand up to what you believe. i tip my hat to you. Now back to the guard changing procession. :) again, I tip my hat. Certainly the boys are very discipline. Unfortunately, there are always some ignorant fools among us speak without first do some inquiries says the guard changing displayed "too much showmanship." Pardon me, fool, for every moves and every steps, every gestures has a reason and meaning behind it. Allow me farther add, anyone who goes to watch changing guard ceremony shouldn't walking around near the procession or talking loudly. Have some decency, show some respect, would you?

And, here's the typical *moron* who acts like a ''nobleman'' that doesn't even know what he's talking about. Learn some English first, you utter embarrassment. The performance is, indeed, laughably *stupid*. Do you seriously and genuinely not realize that?
      Here's some REAL performance:
