    Great video man. I really do enjoy fishing my M1 and Bass Recon rods. I was on the fence with the new redesign M1 but watching this video and the way you explain the design thought I am picking up the new version in a spinning rod for spybaits and shad raps. Thank you!

      Thank you chance. I am still impressed with the performance of these rods. I’m a huge M1 fan but I have several different models and they all are amazing rods. Glad your liking the rods you have. If you ever have any questions let me know.

    I loved my feather but sold it recently. Went with united composites rods. It's still really hard decision for me to sell my phenix black diamond inshore assassin series. The 76 light version is awesome for inshore or lake bass.

      I use my feathers for specific applications. But for all day use you can beat the light weight and sensitivity. Not tried the assassin rod. You’ve got my attention on those. May have to pick one up and give it a try.

    Hey awesome video! Just curious though, what model of rod is that M1 rod you have there? Would you recommend the MH 7’2” as a all round rod?

    • @jgayhart77
      @jgayhart77  Před 3 lety +1

      regis vang I definitely would. It is what I would consider a utility rod. It could serve many purposes and techniques. The MI is the model I’m holding. It’s one of their many rods. But one I really like personally.

    What the weight difference between the Feather and the new M1 Phoenix rod?

    • @jgayhart77
      @jgayhart77  Před 3 lety

      I don’t know exact but there is a very noticeable difference. That rod is amazing to have the power it has out of a rod that is so lightweight. I hope this helps answer your question. This does give me a good reason to weigh them just to see exactly how much. Thank you for the question.

    I'm looking to replace my current Frog Rod (7'6" Heavy/Fast) with a rod that has a more moderate tip that makes roll casting for a softer landing possible. Any suggestions? I like what I'm seeing and hearing about Phenix. Thanks Jimmy. Much appreciated.

    • @jgayhart77
      @jgayhart77  Před 3 lety +1

      Ernie I really like my 7’4” heavy/extra fast. This being a west coast rod the taper and action are a little different. It has enough tip to make long cast but also has enough power to deliver a awesome hook set and get them out of whatever cover tour fishing. They also have longer roofs in the same action that are excellent as well. I truly believe you’d be surprised with the rod. Not to mention it’s not as bulky and heavy as most rods are. So it will not fatigue you to throw a frog all day. Keep me posted and if you have any more questions feel free to message me.

    • @jgayhart77
      @jgayhart77  Před 3 lety +1

      If your talking heavy cover like in Florida then you bought the right rod. If you’re talking Flippin bushes and docks I use same rod just in 7’2” or 7’4”. They got enough action to make precise flips and enough backbone to really move the fish.

    Hey Jimmy what reel are you using on those phenix rods.

  • @bass_scout_actual7554

    Hey Jimmy just wondering if you feel I should power up I LOVE my Recon elite M spinning rod for drop shot but I do feel that particular rod is more of a ML than a M. I have to order online and I plan on ordering some utility rods (chatterbait, spinnerbait, texas rig, etc.) I am just uncertain whether I should run the heavy over the mh.

    • @jgayhart77
      @jgayhart77  Před 3 lety +1

      On the casting rods I really use a heavy extra fast on a lot of applications. Now that’s not to say the MH doesn’t have its place and time. Generally when I’m dragging I use the heavy and on something I need a slight more forgiveness I lean on the MH like when using a chatterbait or square bill. They are a west coast rod and to me the actions are slightly different but I haven’t had any issues getting the hook in a fish on either action. I like knowing that fish has to fight the rod also. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else I’d be glad to help.

      @@jgayhart77 Really appreciate the quick response! I'm here on the east coast up in CT and i run into a ton of vegetation, my current Zodias 7'2" MH handles the chatterbait like a champ but Phenix has made up my mind with their product and I am making the full switch for Nationals. I think I'll end up with a 7'2" mh M1 for chatters and spinnerbaits (I clump these together for coangling) a recon elite 7'1" Heavy and having a hard time figuring out the 3rd rod ha ha. That new M1 design has me wanting them over the recon elite!
