Doritos Spain fires trans influencer over controversial tweets

- Sky News host Caleb Bond has slammed Doritos Spain after the company fired a transgender influencer following revelations they had made controversial statements in the past.
When she was a teenager, trans influencer Samantha Hudson tweeted about wanting to do “thuggish things” to a minor.
Hudson has also made controversial comments about women who are victims of sexual assault and about child abuse.
A spokesperson for Doritos Spain confirmed to Rolling Stone magazine that a short promo called “Crunch Talks” was posted on Sunday and then removed on Monday.
“We have ended the relationship and stopped all related campaign activity due to the comments,” the spokesperson said.
“We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind.”

Here's what really bothers me about this trend.
Marketing types say: let's show our customers how much we hate them. So, you get characters like this. Or war games with nothing but gay pride flags (I am stuck at the Seinfeld 4:17 "not that there's anything wrong with it" stage; but why is it a battle flag?). Pure customer hatred.
In the 60s if you advertised potatoe chips with the slogan: "our chips will poison your children" 9 competitors would have immediately advertised: "we will almost certainly NOT poison your children". Your product would then have immediately died.
There is a force preventing such competitive adjustments now. There is no one saying: "Hey, we will use biological women as our brand ambassadors, no disrespect to pronouns" or: "our game uses Old Glory as a battle flag, not that there's anything wrong with gay pride". A normal, natural competitive response is NOT permitted.
THAT'S what's sinister about this. Stupid, suicidal advertising campaigns are not entirely unprecedented. But notice that competitors aren't allowed to oppose and differentiate. There is a reign of terror at work here which has jammed normal market mechanisms.
