    Interesting review! This guitar seems to be very technical and capable of producing a wide range of sounds!

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci

      It is! But it's also very inviting and friendly. The pickups don't sound harsh so you can get great overdrive and rock tones, or smooth cleans, and the neck is friendly despite being thin and wide

    I urge you to try out an air norton S in a strat style pickguard at the bridge position. It sounds absolutely amazing. Bought it used, complete gamble on my part, had no idea it would've sounded as good as it did. Split coil positions are amazing as well.

    • @HighZ

      That's interesting! I do have one strat and while I'm not planning on switching out the pickups just yet, I'll keep this in mind!

    Nice demo! I was curious what gauge strings you prefer for drop C on this guitar?

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I'm using 10s with a 56 for the C string. Feels super easy to play

    Thanks for the review! Great as always.
    Ibanez released new guitars in June. These include the RGR5130-GRM Prestige. Reverse headstock (I've never seen it like this before, is that new?), Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic Humbucker.
    That was more or less love at first sight.
    Are you planning to get one by any chance? :)

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Oh wow, I took a look and those look cool! I completely missed Ibanez summer releases this year. I certainly wouldn't mind getting the gray one and doing a comparison between that and my ones with the fluence moderns. Just gotta check the budget and think of a way to justify another new guitar 😆

    • @mathias_411
      @mathias_411 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@HighZ I also just stumbled across it. I actually wanted to get the RG-5320 CSW. But now the game starts all over again. I'll have to see if I somehow have a budget for both. 😅

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I hear you there! Fwiw I have the rg5170 BK and while it has moderns instead of classics, the combo of basswood plus the active moderns is incredibly balanced and sounds absolutely sublime! It would be my number one if it didn't break after playing the solo for my sada/turo cover. Neck pickup cuts out and the switch is a pcb so been procrasti eating on fixing it

      @@HighZ Oh man, I know this situation with the repairs.
      I'm still quite new to the Ibanez universe. I've always had ESP, Schecter and Epiphone. But after watching your videos and testing a Prestige, I'm extremely hooked. The 5320 CSW in particular has taken my fancy. It's just important to me to have a guitar that has an extremely low string action and is easy to play. i don't want to have to fight with my instrument.
      what would you say are your top 3 ibanez guitars in terms of playability?
      thanks for your detailed answers by the way. i hope one day ibanez will send you guitars to test.

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci +1

      In terms of playability, it's as you'd expect
      1. PIA / J. Custom
      2. RGA 622
      3. RG5170 / RG 5320
      Interestingly enough my RG652AHM plays better than my RG5121. Maybe the Ibanez trees with their trem block make ot feel more quality? Feel is definitely interfering with an objective playability rating

  • @CampbellAlexander953
    @CampbellAlexander953 Před 2 měsíci +1

    It doesn't have stainless steel frets, but the other RGs releases around the same time have it. Why?

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci

      Great question. I don't know for sure because I'm not affiliated with Ibanez, but if I had to guess it's probably because it's in theory "are design lab" series and whichever department works on these or this model might not be tooled up to work with steel. Totally a guess

  • @LordOfSweden
    @LordOfSweden Před 2 měsíci +1

    What the hec do you do for work to afford all of these expensive guitars? 😂
    I think Ibanez is the top brand together with Schecter and Solar. Those are my favorites.
    But i've heard that Schecters quality control has gone down... not sure if that's true or not. But I saw a guy
    on here bash the 2000 dollar KM-6 MK-III Legacy.

    • @HighZ
      @HighZ  Před 2 měsíci

      Having no kids and never going on vacation saves a lot of money 😆 I like all those brands but they do have their issues. I only have ever had one Schecter and thankfully it's solid, except the tone pot has no friction and turns itself down. My solars have been great but almost all of them have had minor finish imperfections, which isn't a big deal to me at least. And sadly Ibanez quality has gone down a little even as the prices have been going up, but I've kept the good ones I've gotten!

    • @LordOfSweden
      @LordOfSweden Před 2 měsíci

      @@HighZ Hmm. Why do you think quality control has gone down? The guy who complained about the MK legacy, said that the much cheaper hellraiser didn't have any problems. Strange with so uneven quality control.
      Maybe next you can get a Kiesel. I would def get one if I had the money for it, plus it's sadly like 30% added tax and custom if you live in Europe, but for you in the USA. Man Kiesel is such a good prices guitar for a custom guuitar.
      Btw, did you see the new Solar Marcuus Siepen edition? That guitar is like spot on right up my alley of specs. Coated green burled with gold hardware. Looks so dope.
      It's like 1900 I think. Very "affordable".

    • @iduncanw
      @iduncanw Před měsícem

      I tried the KM-7 Legacy. Over $3k in Australia and had surface imperfections and they didn't paint all of the area around the neck pickup cutout. Just seems lazy at that price. Still a beautiful guitar, but you can't unsee the bare wood.
