Excellent audio, very nicely edited and presented concisely with focus on clarity. Well done!! More to come please!
Looking forward to some results you see using the different configurations. Nice demo!
Thanks, I will be working on that indeed.
This is great, thanks for the detailed and practical review!
I did get momentarily confused by the link to the chameleon bracket though.
Great video and loving the scenery behind you 🍸
Thank you Pete, you abd Phil helped enable me to get these kind of shots. 👍
Great stuff 👍👍
That Bracket is frigging awsome. 💯👍
Thanks UG 💪
Nice county side going to make the bracket today
Yet another excellent video and information, greatly appreciated ! Absolutely brilliant bracket just ordered one Kevin. Especially learning how to configure @ 90 degrees to make it directional. Like that it’s tripod friendly, as well 💡Looking forward to trying it in the near future !
73 Steve AA4SH 😊
Glad it helped
Very nice bracket! Could you please show the electrical aspect of it - what connects where, where is the isolation for one of the legs etc...Thanks.
This is fantastic! I modify my buddipole in the same way sometimes.
Great minds think a like.
Looks like a pretty handy contraption 👍
Contraptions really are instrumental for ham radio operations.
Awesome demonstration! I've ordered the clamp through your affiliate link. Now to get the tripod and see what I can do in the yard. Thanks again!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video, would be great to see the delta loop application. Going to pick one of these HF brackets up.
Thanks, a video is soon coming for the Delta Loop, stay tuned.
Great looking product. I like the ability to change configurations. I've built a couple of dipole connectors for my hamsticks so this would be a great addition to the portable bag. Thanks! Jack K5FIT
Thanks Jack, I really like devices that make setup easier and this is one.
Kevin, I like this product. Hope to get one. I use a number of Ham Sticks for portable op. Thanks for the excellent video. 73, Steve, AE6SS
Thanks Steve, Yes this bracket are pretty fun to use. I suspect you will like using it.
I like it. I wonder if there would be a way to set this up for a vertical monopole - with say a wolf river coil, and not one but two horizontals functioning as tuned non-ground contacting radials
Very nice!
Thanks Shawn !
New subscriber, love the videos, keep them coming. As far as the bracket, like it, but i guess ill be making mine , $75 seems a bit much, but great design.
Thanks Doug, if you have the machining equipment, I say make it. 👍
There is a lot of labor that goes into this bracket , and I was certainly not able to create it myself like so many others. Being able to buy one has been a big help. 73 sir
looks well made and a great price... if you live in the States. I haven't seen this before, keen to see more on it.👍🤓
Thanks Don, Deal!
Very nice demo .
I just might have to get one.
I have a extra heavy duty bogen video tripod that would work just like yours.
Thanks!
K7EMU
Your welcome
Darn good video presentation. Certainly perfect for field day or whatever - Rich W2FKN
Much appreciated 🙏
Nice..........
Have you tried 40m dipole configuration with hamsticks, 6’ off the ground as a NVIS antenna? Would be a fast setup for an emergency, especially from a home station.
100 percent correct!
Good vid Kev. I would snap one up if I was in the USA, but living in Africa it would be north of USD 200 for DHL and import duties and taxes. However it has given me good ideas to fabricate my own. I'm a fan of the V config - a dipole has a feed point impedance of 72 ohms and gives 1.5:1 SWR. The V drops it close to 50 Ohms and 1.1:1 SWR...providing the height is optimal of course. 90 degree V is a bit too sharp to get best results, around 120 degree V is best. Thanks again Kev
John, it seems to be a really good design. If you have the tools, I say make one. There are times I wish I had a shop, or a friend with a shop 😉. Thanks for the support
I’m in the US and I can’t g find them anywhere!!
@@paullinnell, use the email address in the video description to find out more about the bracket.
Is the V configuration effectively like an inverted, inverted V in respect of directionality in that an inverted V is less directional than a dipole?
@John Orrells is more like a vertical
Great videos! They have ignited an old joy I used to have in ham radio of playing with antennas! The S&K bracket looks great for all kinds of portable applications. Do you notice any difference between using it as a flat dipole compared to the V ? Also, the Chameleon products look great, but the prices seem over the top. After using them do you feel the prices are justified? Thanks again, your videos are some of the best I've seen! 73
Thanks 👍, yeah, a dipole will be more directional, and the V will be more Omni directional. I really like being able to build an antenna for special conditions while out camping, and that bracket sure does its job. As for chameleon, many people do not have the ability to create an antenna from scratch, and buying a new pre-built system really fits that bill. Thanks for the support. 73
Nice video. Always enjoy your presentation. Thoughts on V configuration performance at tripod height?
Lower will be more NVIS, and thus Far I enjoy tye simplicity of setting up the V configuration, fast, simple and some directionality
@@hamradiowithkevin thank you for your reply. One more if you would indulge me, thoughts on V Dipole config vs Delta loop - which do you think would get out further from tripod height? Thx and 73!
Hi Kevin
I'm wondering if you've tried that L configuration with the Chameleon Tactical Delta Loop?
Looks like there is a horizontal 18x24 female on the adapter?
Thanks again for your great vids.
Interesting idea, it would be pretty floppy though. I think th le whips would start collapsing together. Yes, that fitting on the bracket is that size
These videos are nice and crisp. What camera are you using? Also, seems you have some good lighting as well. thx
Thanks Frank, I use a Canon M50 for most indoor and outdoor video, also some GoPro 10 where I need fast setup.
@@hamradiowithkevin thx for the info. That’s incredible a small camera can do very nice work.
Thanks Frank, it was fun to work you the other day. 73
@@hamradiowithkevin thx dude. Congratulations on your Chanel. -73
Hi Kevin love your videos KB7CQ
Thank you Bruce, very nice to hear from you. Let's do a POTA one day 👍
For sure that would be fun. I am kind of getting tottery due to my issues but POTA is irristable and fun to do. I have a couple of places we could do and it would be fun to see you.
@@bruceweight7319 , sorry to hear that. Pick a place near you. With any luck we could do a POTA before winter. Email me some details and we shall see what happens.
Nice bracket but they do not ship to Canada :(
Do you have any suggestions for a supporting mast? I am considering the CHA PORTA-MAST, but would like to check out other masts such as carbon fiber. Thanks for your interesting and useful videos!
Because of the load, you can build up with this bracket. You probably want to stay with a heavy-duty mast. Thicker would be better. I use this bracket with the Porta mast and it is solid. I hope this helps you.
Very interesting and versatile. What tripod are you using?
The Manfrotto #144 tripod. I saw one on Ebay for $89. It is so useful for many antennas I have setup.
Keeping in mind that I paid $6 US at a scap center. I feel very lucky to have found it.
I have used the MFJ style with mixed results.
I get that, "mixed results" muti config bracket. Nice one Liberty 🙂
S & K Antenna Systems doesn’t have much of an internet presence except on Facebook. And even there I don’t see a menu for products or a form for ordering anything.
Jack, try the email link in the description and let me know if that doesn't get you anywhere.
This thing looks really rugged. It's a pity they do not ship to Germany. 😐
Anyway - may I ask a ham newbie question?
If so:
When using such a dipole with that sort of bracket or something similar not outdoors, but on a balcony in 3rd floor, does it then require any sort of grounding? I assume not ... 🤔
(I am talking about a temporary setup that is not supposed to stay outside in lightning/thundstorm.)
no grounding required, take it down during storm since it is easy to put up as a portable system.
What size wire do use and how long for the radicals. Really enjoy your videos and very helpful. Thankyou. Guy KE8YIP
Make the radials 1/4 wave for each specific band you use
Thankyou
nice detailed video. so how did it perform?
It's good
You can use the rotating arms kit for the Buddipole but your idea is also a great thing to have in your antenna bag John VE3IPS
Thank you John, you are right. I too have used the buddy pole arms myself. This bracket just seems to make it that much easier for me.
Having trouble contacting S&K like a lot of others according to the comments below. Since this guy is close to you, could you get updated contact info or a phone #??? Your video has made this gizmo a "must have" for me.
I will check into this.
Thanks for the update, letting me know.
Isn't a dipole directional if it is in free space at least a half wavelength off the ground?
I bought the bracket a bit ago. I really like it.
Great video. The only comment I have, is when I attempted to contact S&K Antenna Systems using the given email address, I received an error message to the effect that it was incorrect. If you could clarify this it would be greatly appreciated.
Ken, what are you getting for an error message?
I need to see the V in action have you made a vid yet?? M7SEY 73's
Here is a second Video I made for this HF Bracket. I hope this helps. 73
@@hamradiowithkevin Hi Is there a link to it?
Would their be an advantage to use hustler quick disconnect.
Not really, should be fast enough
I am having trouble getting S&K Antenna Systems to respond to emails. Are they still in operation?
The good news is, I should have a number of these for sale soon. I will be posting the announcement soon. You can find my email address on the "about" page on the channel. Send me your email address and I will get you the information.
Nice! But those legs at the beginning looked like a painful sunburn... 🥵
Oh yeah, I get my fair share of radiation.
...what telescoping antennas are you using?? link to buy?? thanks and 73
I have used any and all manner of antenna elements from buddy pole to the rock solid chameleon telescopic whips. Even ham sticks will and do work with this bracket
Is there a link to order one of the brackets?
You have to contact him with the email address in the description. That is the only way I know of to reach Stan.
I can’t find it anywhere on the web! De NØPL
@Paul Linnell , yes he is a local ham. Have you tried the email address in the description?
I was just able to purchase online via the link in the description. His site said he had 5 in stock.
Where can I get it from??
There should be a link in the video description. Let me know if not.
