- Ended my trip to Switzerland with a day trip to Lucerne and Mount Rigi from Zurich! The top of Rigi was the most wind I’ve ever experienced in life 😅 but overall, it turned out to be such a spectacular day with some stunning views. I did a day trip to Mount Rigi from Zurich (in February 2022) where I went on top of Rigi Kulm, hiked a bit in the snow, took a beautiful train down to Vitznau by Lake Lucerne from where I took a boat to Lucerne and explored the city by night! Also, I was actually with a friend of mine who was too shy to be on camera but in case you were wondering who took some of my shots, it was him! We had some delicious raclette at night, and let’s just say it’s become one of my favourite dishes! :D Hope you enjoy this vlog from Switzerland’s most beautiful city - Lucerne :)

Another beautiful video, and for me, it brought back happy memories of my 'beginning of life' in Switzerland, as that is the town where I toiled from Sept 1977 till Aug. 1981. A German colleague, who has since passed away, used to take me hiking in many areas in the region, and what a delight, he always brought along some wine, and his Vietnamese wife, some food, so we used to 'feast away' at the peaks, and walk down. I lived in Schönbühl, just outside Lucerne, and the famous composer, Richard Wagner's house was just a stone's throw from my humble, 2 bedroomed apartment. So many years, but even if I could have a healthy argument as to why Montreux is the more beautiful city/village in Switzerland, I'm going back, coming Sat., to a hillside resort on the Vierwaldstätersee, as I'll turn 72 on June 17th, and it is 'special' to be able to spend some time away from home, even if it is just 200km away. We've rented a little car (as we don't own one), and driving around the little villages around Lucerne is such delight, and so, so peaceful. Looking forward, and also looking forward to a time when you'll visit Montreux in the summer (but not during its annual Jazz Festival, unless you are a jazz aficionado, as the town is crowded, streets jammed with cars), and you could even pay us a little visit! All the best,
Alas, a "like" from you, much appreciated. Life goes on, esp. for old folks like me, and yes, Montreux is just a most beautiful, peaceful, elegant little town, at least for me. Winter has come, there's fresh snow on the mountains, and from our little, even if a humble 'perch' (that is what we feel about our modest apartment from the main train station, just 2 mins down to it, and 5 mins up, esp, at my age), but we live a daily life of deep gratitude.
As it happens, my wife and I spent our honeymoon, just some 20 years ago, in Bali, first 3 days at the Grand Hyatt in Sanur, and then at a clean, but 'unbranded' Puri Saraswati in Ubud, just 2 weeks after the unfortunate Kuta bombings. We almost had the whole island, as foreigners, to ourselves, so when I looked at your ultra-great videos, I said, yes, boring, thank you, thank you, we visited the island during more quiet times, and so many beautiful memories, incl. yes, believe it or not, some of the most mystical kind.....as the saying goes, the 'rest in person'.....may everything good and great continue coming your way, and if you find your way to Montreux again, 'give us a shout'it will be such great honour. Thanks.

What a beautiful journey. We couldn't do Mount Rigi while we were in Switzerland but so happy that I watched this video to see that. Yeah Lucern is as usual amazing, Switzerlands water fountains yaar so good. And yes eat a lot of cheese in Switzerland. We bought some Raclette and Fondue for ourselves. Lovely memories. We loved it.
