  • Take a deep dive into SXSW with our Live Studio Interviews, where conversations go beyond the boundaries of sessions, showcases and screenings.
Austin's Hometown Heroes, director Richard Linklater and actor Glen Powell go in-depth about Linklater's new film screening at SXSW 2022. Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood tells the story of the first moon landing in the summer of 1969 from two interwoven perspectives - the astronaut and mission control view of the triumphant moment, and through the eyes of a kid growing up in Houston, Texas who has intergalactic dreams of his own. Taking inspiration from Academy Award-nominated® filmmaker Richard Linklater’s own life, Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood is a snapshot of American life in the 1960s that is part coming of age, part societal commentary, and part out-of-this-world adventure.

Loved this movie, just saw it today. Thank you, Richard Linklater. Really nailed it, it was eerie, I've been telling everyone about it all day.

An Austin Superhero, Linklater feeling the pulse of Austin with Space exploration and technology back in 2005!. He's so hip, who ever knew he remembered the BOYHOOD💖 Apollo launches?. 10 1/2 with a bugs cameo! Who needs an Eleven? Can't wait to see🎥 APOLLO 10 1/2

Just Left of the TV monitor is a Fav Jones print of Bugs drawing Daffy at the artist's table, maybe a bit of both in all of us? His widow had a gallery in Sante Fe, Imagine online today through Foundation? Jones worked a lot for Warner Bros. SXSW or should have an Austin Bugs Club, meet at the Lake with Linklater chairman❣️

If it was going to happen it would have been this year, 9 year gap between the others...

@Ian Robinson I understand that, but the interviewer said he was going to ask Richard Linklater about that specifically, but later and never did. ☹️

@@ianrobinson4200 Actually, I don't think so. Here's what Ethan Hawke said: “If the first three were all nine years apart, the fourth would not follow that trajectory,” he said. “Linklater would want a different path, either a short film set four years after Midnight or a feature two decades in the future. We think about it. Those are the three best experiences of my life: Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight. They are a part of me. So the idea of revisiting it, I would have to believe we could make something as good.”
