I have a little problem with this teaching, where the rabbi insinuated that there were Egyptians who joined the Israelites when they left Egypt. Is there any historical write up or authority to back up this claim? Or is it a present day prophetic revelation? Which as a Jeshuah Hamaschiach's follower, I can still accept this outrageous claim. I must confess Rabbi Manis that I enjoy your teachings, but at the same time, I m scared it may be misleading, because it errs away from Torah's original straight words. My Torah specifically says Aaron “fashioned” and “molded” the golden calf. See Exodus 32:4. The story of the gold making itself into a golden calf comes from Aaron’s account to Moses in verse 24. Either Moses lies to us in verse 4, or Aaron lied to Moses in verse 24. And given that whole chapter shows Aaron was a pushover and had no backbone during Moses’s absence, I would say Aaron’s account doesn’t have much credibility, and I would trust Moses’s account in verse 4.

The idea for something being thrown into a fire or water to get an idol can be seen in other historical accounts outside of the Torah. The understanding that has been proposed by scholars who have studied the procedures described is that the priests would fashion the idol, and then make this declaration to the people. So, perhaps Aaron and the priests followed this process, which would explain the differing description.

Kile, there is religious division, some big, some small and all kind of different denominations and that need not make you sad. It works better that way. With room to make minor adjustments, that gives people a way to be part of the bigger group and still feel that they are expressing their own path. That's how we still have Abrahamic faiths, although the three of them have differences. Kosher and Halal are close but different. No meat on Friday for Christians. None of these three "big divisions" prevent the grandchildren of Abraham from belonging to his family.

Dani, this is because there so many commandments a Jew must fulfill that it is impossible to fullfil them all. So different movements -- they are not casts and usually group around a particular Rabbi --- emphasize different things.
The main division is threepartite: Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform. The Orthodox view the commandments as unchangeable in time and try to live by all laws (minus those that pertain to the Temple). The Reform think it is impossible in modern life amd emphasize tradition rather that faith. This movement was invented in rhe early 1800s Germany, imported into the U.S. in 1860s, where it still thrives, but was totally extinct in Germqny itself buly 1910. The Conservative movement tries to take a middle position and is not doing well.
If you like Jewish food and traditions, join a Reform synagogue. If you want to learn what Judaism and Jewish history are, join the Lubavitche Chabad. The Lubavitxh are unique among the Orthodox in that that they themselves obey all rhe laws but close their eyes COMPLETELY on rhe fact that tou may not be doing do. No, they don't forgive you -- no patronizing on their part -- but they literally do no se that. They say, "nothing matters but the fact that you are hear."
The objective of the Chabads is to let the Jews who left Judaism reconnect with what they have left. Nothing else.

They are Jewish people who migrated to Europe centuries ago and were known for trading good’s, but they also were good at other types of skill’s as well, such as blacksmiths and Carpenters to name a few. I mean it’s common sense, if you live in an area for centuries where all the native people are a certain race. You are going to have to mingle with the native’s of that race sooner or later, wether it’s for business or even marriage. It happens with all groups of people that move into a land that is foreign to them. So that’s why their is Jewish people who are White today and plus just because they are light skin and lived centuries in a foreign land, doesn’t mean that they didn’t keep their values and faith. They even suffered greatly because of it by the hands of others who were ignorant and stereotyped them for hundreds of year’s. Some Jewish people were even forced to abandon their faith and convert too other faiths or they would be killed. Then the Nazis where the worst because they just killed people indiscriminately, but they targeted the Jewish people the most because they used them as a scapegoat too blame all of Germany’s problems on them. I am Korean. I have Hebrew Tanakh and the Bible translated into Korean and English(NIV), and I have read both Korean and English version but not the one in Hebrew as I can't read Hebrew. However, now I wish I can read the Torah in Hebrew.
English(NIV) translation has written as below:
When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."
So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.
He took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."
When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord."
Moreover, in Korean version, it clearly states that "Aaron took what they handed him and take it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool." So, both Korean and English translation indicate that it was Aaron who made the golden calf with his own hands.
Now I want to know what my Hebrew Tanakh says.. It will be a long journey to achieve, but I wish I can read Hebrew Tanakh someday. 🕯🙏🕯

This is why religion is just a game. The Rabbi mispoke. He says “a golden calf has never happened again”, incorrect, see 1 Kings 12:28, “Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.” KJV. That occurred after Mt Sinai in the biblical kingdom periods and the Torah attests to this idol worship in many instances. See 2 Kings 17:7-16 and 2 Kings 21. In Islam, it was not Aaron, peace be upon him, who made the calf, but rather a person named Samiri who made the calf for them.
Aaron advised them not to do so, but they did not listen to him and he was unable to stop them. Aaron was a prophet. He did not tell them to worship a calf.
This person called Samiri was the one who deceived them because the Jews at that time did not know God well, so Samiri took advantage of that. Rather, there is an event that occurred when the Children of Israel crossed the sea, and it is mentioned in the Qur’an: And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people who devoted themselves to their idols. They said, “O Moses, make for us a god as they have gods.” ۚ He said, “Indeed, you are an ignorant people. (138) Indeed, these are disgraced by what they are in, and what they used to do is void. (139) He said, ‘Is there a god other than Allah? Do I seek your god?’ He preferred you over The two worlds (140)
Samiri paid attention to this and the opportunity was right when Moses went to speak to God in the mountain.
He took advantage of the 40 nights during which Moses, peace be upon him, was absent, which is enough to make a golden calf.
What added to the deception was that the calf was hollow. When it was completed, air would enter through some of the openings in the golden calf and emit sounds.

In Exodus 32:4, "fashioned" it in Hebrew is meaning Aaron meshed the jewelry together. But the making of it into a molten calf, was the work of "they" you read in verse 4, referring to the mix multitude. Aaron didn't do that. In verse 8, Gd refers to "they" who were responsible. And verse 24 gives us the hint that the "they" were involved with some sort of satanic working like sorcery. Aaron confesses to Moses what really happened. He meshed the jewelry to delay their time from committing sin, then threw the gold into the fire, but to his surprise, out came the golden calf.
If you follow the Christian translation and not know the Hebrew language, you will easily conclude Aaron is a liar and idolater, and Moses is corrupt in letting his relative off the hook. Don't go down that route.
      Peace 🙏🏽

also got to point out the weird "logic" of this "rabbi" well a box is a cube so ifto facto a tablet is a cube.....what????its besides the point but wow
Back to my main you apparently have no faith in the God of the Torah/old testament and his abilities, you seem to think he is so inept he cant make sure that his word is given to non Hebrew reading/speaking ppl....that he doesn't have the ability to make sure that these ppl translating can't get his word and message correct even if its not able to always be a word for word copy....but its not surprising i mean you're run around this comment section defending this "rabbi" who is not only trying to come up with excuses for the sins of aaron and the children of Israel but also claiming their God is stupid and inept....making the claim that moses out smarted their God by saying basically moses smashed the "cube" tablets and said nope you cant punish them because i didn't give them the law yet, which he seems to be forgetting that they already entered the covenant before moses went up the mountain....also that he had to implore God not to destroy them for breaking his law before going down the mountain
