CRV Off-Roading: Battle Creek to Siuslaw River Falls

I'm a native Oregonian and really enjoying your videos. I am hoping to purchase and build an overland rig before summer is out and work on it over the winter. Forgive me if you've covered this already elsewhere but I'm curious, why CRV and why that gen? I don't mean that in a condescending way. I'm new to this and I know some vehicles are just begging to be built while others are more difficult. Did you decide on and seek out the CRV or did you already have it when you got into overland?
