@@michaelbasile6388 HI! Yes that should be fine, what kind of catch does it have? If it has end caps, it should be an easy job, (just cutting, then moving the end cap to the 22" mark) if it has a box link catch without end caps, you may end up with a stiff link. You can email me pics at egadjewelrymessenger@gmail.com and we may be able to help you with telling you how to shorten it.

My youngest son that’s 11 has a 16” Gold Rope Chain 10K hollow and he hasn’t had issues until today it broke. It’s only a $200 chain but I still would like it fixed. What would a good price be for this repair when I get estimates from a few places here in Arizona?

@@ashajhi Oh were you asking if your chain is hollow or solid? Sorry I thought you meant the chain in the video. I can't tell unless I feel it, but if it's hollow it will feel a lot lighter vs a solid chain is going to feel heavier and solid. You can also look at the links, if there is an open link check if it's tube being used (hollow) or solid wire.
At $682.32 for 6.4 grams, you paid about $106 a gram for 18K which is a little pricey but if it is a brand new chain, that sounds about right.

@@angelbluerider9588 That is not a bad price at all! But hollow is more likely to break at the end of the day, so we would suggest you save up for a solid one that will be worth the investment/last a lifetime. :)

@@angelbluerider9588 It is really up to you, which one feels/looks better for you. Like you said the 5.5mm is less expensive with the grams to price ratio. 400/14.5= 27.5 a gram vs. 540/12.1=44.5 a gram.
We will always recommend 14k over 10k because 10k is harder and more brittle, vs. 14k is softer but more durable/less likely to break in the long run. I hope that helps!
