Starting a Figure With a New Technique. Oil Painting Process.

- The idea for a new painting should come together with its own technique. There are many influences we can get inspiration from. I started with a new ground that came from a scraped failed painting, then drew loosely with the charcoal and began to paint with bold colors inspired by a painting in my collection.

You continue to be such a fine inspiration César. Thank you so much for the very personal way you share yourself; above and beyond anyone else offering tutorials, to my perception.
I’m primarily a sculptor/new watercolour artist, so I haven’t used your tutorials to create an oil painting yet. Still, you contribute tremendously to my relationship to art, as the classics have contributed to your work. Gracias 🙏
ps, I’m a 73 year old man, who finally came back to painting 3 years ago; after having abandoned painting when I went off to university. I’ve had a superb life, even though I initially gave up art and took the financial incentive/and strong pressure offered by family who covered my schooling.
Cesar Santos blog on youtube?! No Way! WOOOOW! 😀😀😀😀😀
I plan to create a video in the near future of the greatest living artists which I follow. In my opinion, there are none better at the moment than you. Your ability to freehand proportion and do it with different mediums is phenomenal. There are none better. The fact you study the intricacies of art in depth and are transparent about it to your audience puts you on a whole different level. Thank you and keep doing what you do! I will share the link with you when I give you props.
Living master living legend
😆😂😂😂😂😂
Indeed!
@@ilyamenzel6948 what’s so funny
I need the RAP at the end of your videos. It was so perfect every time! Huge love to Cesar and Valentina for bringing me joy and keeping connected to the art side of my soul ❤️❤️❤️
I only wish we have art supplies like you guys have.
great piece, i really learned a lot from your channel... thank you for sharing
Great video, thanks! Hope to see more of this painting!
Loved it Cesar… Thanks for your videos
Beautifully done.
Love how is developing
A fine, fine artist…great inspiration
Amazing work!!!
Cesar! Incredible work. Can't believe we have access to a modern master on CZcams.
Another splendid video Cesar. Cheers
Yes, he is a genius, and we have a lot to learn from him! Thank you, Cesar!
You are awesome ! thank you for your spirited delivery and tutoring !
Outstanding sir 🙏
you are the heir to P. Annigoni bravo. will you do any multi-figure history painting or allegory for this time of such dramatic change in the world. I would love to see you really push the limits of your technical ability with storytelling and create narrative paintings combining all your skills.
Beautiful!
Nice, fantastic work
Glad to have this tutorial 🤝🤝😊😊😀💐🎊
Good Job, Thanks !
What fixative did you use to cover the charcoal? Beautiful work Cesar.
This guy is great.
The effect of foreshortening on the hand on the column is very compelling even in just the block in. Shows how each stage should feel complete in its own context. Good lesson to absorb.
You certainly deserve a spot on my God and Guru Altar 🤲🏻❤️🙏🏻
Beautiful 😍
What is it that you used to spray the charcoal drawing? Amazing work as always
Great video
Wow, te felicito 😊
Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos y por éste vídeo tan impresionante. Podrías por favor poner subtítulos en español.
Saludos cordiales desde Costa Rica.
I like it
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Master, what kind of support sre you using? Looks like paper. Nice video
Reminds me of the French Academy's insistence on seeing the antique in the model.
Idol❤️
beutiful i love it its fun to paint women more videos its fun to watch
Wow, that’s realism! I actually heard her giggle when he put the brush up between her legs, lol.
Wonderful. I almost hope you touch very little of the figure. The looseness gives it vitality that some more finished work lacks. Just my opinion and taste of course. Thanks for the vid!
10:30 how do you “go continue the work”? I would like to know how to go from blocky to having more detail
Carissimo maestrissimo, another great video! Bravo!!! As you know, I advocate a painterly beginning-one can bring the painting to a blended finish (as much, or as little, as one wants) in 2nd-painting. It's insane to waste time being overly neat before beginning the 2nd-painting process. Concentrate, get the colours in place, then, and only then, deal with rendering!!!!
Thanks Maestro! Learned so much from you!
جميل 🌹
Whos the artist of the painting where leonardo da vinci is painting the last supper?? I absolutely love it
I'm learning so much from explaining your art.
CESAR....MY CAT BIT ME AGAIN.
me ha gustado mucho. Como prepars el lienzo a mi se me une el carboncillo con el oleo. Que paleta de colores usas. gracias !!
Usa un fijador en spray para fijar el dibujo.
Los colores que usa en su paleta son:
Siena tostada, sombra natural, tierra verde, bermellón, ocre amarillo y blanco.
@@PabloJRoque ¿sabes que medio esta usando? ¿o es la pintura directa del tubo?
,❤️❤️
Hola Cesar podrias hacer algunos tutoriales en castellano. Muchas gracias
Me gustaría ver algún video con audio español
Si pudiera ser traducida en Español. Gracias
2nd😁
Hi Cesar, Could you please tell me if a loose painting can be considered as finished portrait if all principles are correct
Only you can decide that. Trust yourself
Of course it is! Look at someone like Casey Baugh. His paintings look so photorealistic yet when you look closely and pay attention, the brushstroke are so evident and its look like gobs of paint just mushed in together. Even more evident if you look at he paints them. You just have to find which discipline of realism you’d want to pursue. You can be technical and structured like Cesar or you can be loose and free like Casey. Its all you :)
@@mrshankly6731 Your profile name, is it your actual name or a reference to the great Bill Shanky.?
Thank you
@@europeanroyalty4778 its a reference for The Smith’s song “Frankly Mr. Shankly”. Dont know if it has anything to do with the liverpool legend though
I keep changing my technique because I like to experiment but I worry sometimes that I'll never find my 'style' that way...
The "style" itself, born after the permanent search for perfection, is in this way that the observer can discover the differences in the artistic expression of each author. Modernly, it has mistakenly been called "own style", works based on the ease of not requiring a laborious search for perfection. Conveniently, many forget that Picasso's Cubism was only achieved, after an exhaustive practice of his own, in the area of realism.
Ciao! Come stai? Maybe one day my wife and I will visit Firenza and we could meet for a caffè. You must be in seventh Heaven living in one of the most historically artistic cities in the world.
Hi Cesar, I moved to Ft Lauderdale. I would love to do a collab. Im at a different level but maybe do a museum tour or interview. Let me know. Peace !
First
I heard you use your beard as a brush when painting, is that correct?
Prometheus
Hi Cesar, I really like your videos, but for this video I think it's probably not a good idea to fix a drawing and then paint on it. I think over time, the color will start to peel off. But it's a study, I understand.
It's no going to peel off!
@@santocesart He's correct. You don't fix charcoal. Use a cloth, hit the canvas with it loosely, to remove excess charcoal.
Whaa?... No "Let's rap this video up!"? Lol that's okay. Still great anyway
I like you, Cesar, but the jumpy cuts are way too much!
Nnmmc
I HAVE A PROBLEM. I CAN NOT SEE YOUR DRAWING, I ONLY CONTÉMPLATE YOU… MY LOVELY STAR.
😠ttu
Esse cara pinta muito! (mas... que barba horrível).
Sad that you’re going to destroy it with the further “refining”…
