  • The Knights Templar were born in the Middle Ages and vanished after 2 centuries in existence. In this series, we discover the birth of the order, the rise and power of the Templars, and the truth behind their tragic end.
At the beginning of the 12th century, a few knights decide to create a new brotherhood called “The order of the Temple”. Wearing white overcoats bearing a red cross, the Templars are both monks and soldiers and are dedicated entirely to the defense of the Holy Land. In this episode, we discover who was behind the creation of the Order and how the reign of these new knights of Christ has grown so quickly.

They were first and foremost a military order. All their means, way of life supported this aim. They were each and all expected to be ready for battle and prepared to die at all times. This is what kept them strong and capable. To administrate the order, to structure their way of life, to build and manage their affairs, they adopted the organisation and methods of a monastery.

You don't hear about it too often because it's utter nonsense. There was no Knights Templars at the battle of Stirling Bridge. Although legend has it that they did fight at Bannockburn, and this, if true, would make more sense, as they had been disbanded by then and were migrating from their spiritual home where they were being persecuted.

@@andrewtraynor4960 This is a well known myth that is speculating around Scotland. In the 19th century, various orders and societies emerged in Europe, among them one called "The Order of the Knights of Templars in Scotland", whom in 1843 published a work called "A Historical Notice of the Order", which was written by these masonic templars, where they claimed that the Templars fought alongside Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314. Of course this is not true at all, it is just another example of freemasons making up stories about their past, but later on this was also explained by a Scottish freemason Robert Cooper.

Historical fact: The Templars were slaughtered by both:
    1. Kings of Nations (feodal monarchs)
    2. The Pope (religious authority)
Why did they fear and felt threatened by the Templars?
What are the things the feodal and religious absolute powers feared the most from the subjects they ruled?
    Knowledge, science, freedom.
The surviving Templars may kept themselves invisible at the same time perpetuating enlightenment and the birth of Renaissance.
They may even ignited the establishments of United States of America the land of the free, where the spawn of a new civilization concept arose: democracy.

The kings owed them money, and they were jealous of their independence. The Pope liked them and the french king got tired of asking the Pope to denounce them and took actions in his own hands. When the Pope saw that they were no longer of use anymore, and he knew if he kept it up supporting them he'd anger the European monarchs especially Philip the IV. Nothing to do about 'religious fanatics' more about power and greed in the church and state.
