I m a cork fan and went to the game with my 12 yr old son to see these teams. Limerick are a bit of an unstoppable train for sure but nobody is speaking about how many times the sliotar went back over the half way line from both teams.
Hurling has changed. Too many scores from long distance and too many frees.
The game is losing the crowd year by year.
The sliotar needs re-addressing and the hand pass is a huge issue. All counties are guilty of the simulated hand pass.
The word ruck shouldn't be a hurling phrase and the cheap hand pass is condussive to this bunching worth forming.
This is just a fan's opinion and I m not calling people out.
    Thanks lads

Well said. The handpass and tactics are allowing swathes of space to open up & then you have defenders knocking over points from 100 yds out. I agree about sliotar as well. Watch the national League final of 1960, no handpasses in it & ball only travelled 40, 50 yds, more general play ina game.

Make the ball heavier and you are opening up the possibility of blanket defences (as in Gaelic football). That's if the ball is only travelling up to 60 yards. Tactics have dictated that it's now a possession game, so the days of 50/50 balls on the edge of the square are gone, but if a team were to revert to the long ball into the square on occasion, there would be consternation, as no back is expecting it now.

The rugby-style arm tackles are a blight on the game. They are not skilful, are not legal, and are a crucial part of winning matches.
The rules need a complete overhaul to save the sport.
