As far as it works to our requirements, it is as good as any of the models by Grizzly, Felder, Martin, SCM etc etc. Improvements and tweakings will continue as you keep using. Cool saw and video! It really helped me out. Although mine will be made of metal, I'm going to do something similar. I'm going to add a sliding extension to my table saw and was going to run the linear rails next to each other on a horizontal plane, but then I'd have to worry about getting them both exactly square with the table and blade. The way you did it, with the rails spaced apart vertically, takes all that worry out of it. Also, it makes adjusting the height of the slider to match the height of the table saw table much easier as well.
I love it!!! I've been watching all these saw videos I can find to copy one, and I really think this is the best one so far!!! I might modify it to fit a handheld planer. I like the slide, and it MUST be pretty rugged. I thought you were going to wear it out, but it held up!!! LOL Thank you for sharing your great idea!!!

Interesting project. I see a lot of projects that use linear bearings...they are VERY expensive here and I have yet to see a project that justifies the expense...good luck with your project!

Did you guys notice the test cut was not perfectly sitting flat with table, 2 things, one it causes tear out underneath and 2 small out of square angle since the board tilts, otherwise good project.

you can add hard metal in some point of adjustment screws, also use good quality plywood or hard wood not that wood type i've been used in this video it's not good enough. Hope you all could be build it much better than me, thanks for watching.

If that is on a hingde you should have gapped the platform for the sled and swing the the slide level to the table and come up with an attachment and ya got yourself a tennon slide jid
I had to turn the sound off, the provided background melodies was like listening to nails on a black board. Good design, I could make a few improvements to it though. This would take up too much space in my garage, so if a couple of quick release brackets added would make it easy to pull off and hang on the wall when not in use.

Working without a zero clearance insert as far as I know,is a VERY BIG,NO NO,i don't understand why this guy did not just cut a 45degree through his insert
I don't think in that case it was dangerous, I'd be more worried about too much tear-out.... that is why you want zero clearance as opposed to a stock insert with room on either side. Now if he was ripping a skinny piece that would be different

You could of used the slide rail at each end to mill the slots for your measures
