  • Mackey Autosport hits the track for round number 6 at the Deming Speedway, driver Colin Mackey is hoping to put together another extremely consistent night and further extend his season points lead. Mackey did not get off to a great start with a 4th in qualifying although it was nothing to hang our heads about. Starting 3rd in his heat, Mackey has to run clean smooth lines on the bottom but after two laps of side-by-side racing, he unfortunately lost one spot finishing 4th. This put Mackey in the 10th starting position in the A-main event but with pure determination and a little luck, Mackey parked it in victory lane for a 3rd time this season!

Hey collin, When the track gets slick you said you tune the engine for peak performance. so When it gets slick do you change the rear sprocket size by 1 or 2 teeth to make the engine turn less RPMs creating less wheel spin or do you do it a different way?

Yes, I will typically drop 1 tooth in the rear from my qualifying gear. I do it to settle the car when on the throttle and to keep the engine loaded at the end of the straights

What kind of gear shifter do you use?

We use a vertical direct shifter from Hyper Racing, modified to be inboard the roll cage.
