Here's how to make a custom fiberglass dash or any other interior parts for your hot rod or custom car - Jak na to + styl
great vid mate! its a "dead" youtube vid but 6 years ago you understood the talking/doing ratio! Great work.
I honestly think some people hit the dislike button just for the hell of it because this is a great video and there is literally no reason to dislike it.
forreal, this is awesome
It's an Australian thumbs up
I think it's an awesome video and I hit the like button however I could see some people nitpicking and saying that it's not technically fiberglass because he didn't use fiberglass, he used felt or whatever it was and the resin...
For the MDF... I don’t care for that junk; use real, exposed, wood.
its probably the competition.

David Guyton can you build a 2007 Altima iPad mini radio dash for me? If so what does it require or take?
David Guyton Dude you have got some serious skill 👍
David Guyton hey
David Guyton how can I get one off these and how much
David, you should do a series dedicated to dashes and doors, maybe even put up template plans?
Do one for most popular muscle cars, as there isn’t a lot out there, for different designs
This is one of the few videos on youtube that is actually worth the watch. there are so many shitty glassers out there
I was actually so frighten and stressed about making pieces fit, but the sway you showed making it made me relax and see i didnt have to make anything from scratch. Thanks! :)
The finished dash you showed looked good! but I would have liked to see it installed. Great video! thanks for sharing!
That resin bondo mix is genius, I’ve gotta try that on my motorcycle parts and truck parts and everything
So clever nice job makes me feel like redoing my dashboard
That was stunning mate!!!!
Couldn’t believe how nice it came up!!!
Well done 👍
Just want you to know that, by referencing this video along with the videos from another channel, I was able to successfully apply your process to my entire Chevy truck dash pad which was completely annihilated by the sun. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, your efforts are greatly appreciated!!!
Glad to hear that and glad to know I helped to save an old Chevy!
Everytime I try to look something COOL from CZcams, I find you responsible! Keep up the good work Sir. :)
+Raymond Agbunag haha why thank you! That's awesome
if I had 3 thumbs you would get 3 of them up bro. nice work. very great camera focus detailed explanation and thanks for not putting loud annoying music like others lol. I subcribe👍👍👍
+Luis Garcia I HATE the ones with the stupid music ruining the videos. I don't know why people DO that
+David Guyton keep up the great work brother
@@DavidGuyton will you take request orders ?
Thanks for this. Best tutorial seen for a long time and great design perfectly constructed and finished.
super sick and no boring one of the best tutorial vids ive seennice job two thumps up
Love the technique, I'm already inspired for many projects that I could adapt this to. The fleece over multiple materials to tie them together is outstanding. Just in this video alone: MDF, Plastic, and Metal married by Fabric and Bondo! Brilliant! Especially stronger than vacum forming on a DIY level. Thanks for sharing.
awesome! Glad to be of help!
Nice looking dash and the Rondo is a great bonus tip!!! Thanks!!!
I just stumbled upon this because I was curious what it would take to make one look really nice and I am impressed. Yeah takes a while and some care but that's why it looks like this and not like cardboard. Plus glad to see all the steps and the explanation.
Fantastic process!!!! Very easy to transfer to other applications and custom needs. Thanks for sharing!
if you like this one, be sure to check out my fiberglass engine bay and full custom interior videos using this same method
I did see that one as well. Thinking about doing a custom Engine Cover for an LS swap that I am doing on a Jeep. Since it is just a decorative piece, I am sure your method would be awesome for this. I like the idea of a felt first layer. Sweet!
It'll work for just about anything that isn't a structural part of the car....however I should point out that you should use fleece, and not felt....two very different fabrics and if you try to use felt you are going to be cursing at me haha
Love these car related videos! You should do more of them! I came here because of this video, but now I’m watching your armor videos. Very impressive work.. 🤤
Thanks very much! When I have another car project I'll be sure to film the process and put up another video.
Great video, Dash looks great. Thanks
Finished product looks phenomenal! Great video!
NICE results, If I change my 2..3 for a 302 this might be a good add on and needed
Thanks for the showing and teaching.Like the explanation and lots of tips
Sir great job
Excellent video! You make excellent tutorials. I especially like the bit about rondo.
Thought it was going to come out bad but after the sanding and paint it looks great. I can only imagine how much better after the carbon fiber dip.
That is so worth the time and money!!! Nice job!!!
Great video for the car/hot rodding community! Definitely subscribed. Very nice.
Wonderful job friend, really wonderful.
That's beautiful Fiberglass Dash Mr.Guyton. I enjoyed.
Dude great job! That looks fantastic!
Fantastic I might have to try this for a new dash for my Corvette.
This is nice
I like the way you think
take what is there and make it better
that is what i like to do
Thanks for the great idea. I have been wondering what I was going to do with my falcon dash I think this will work great.
this is sheer ingenuity gold brother...
really really nice I love the way you did this set up ... thanks for the video
Bam! A true on the fly craftsman. I really appreciate your work. Awesomeness. Great vid. Thanx.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Excellent video! Very clean and professional work.
Whoa the final product is amazing, nice work
Good job on this, came out great
Really good job. I worked at a shop where they did stuff like this, and yours came out great.
That’s amazing 🤙
Thanks going to be doing mine soon and your video will help with the process 🙃
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for sharing!!!
Excellent craftsmanship and so simple. You do awesome work. Thanks for sharing.
Hi...I have watched two of your videos and let me tell you that it is amazing what you do. You make it seem so easy but I know if a try to do it, it's not going to be as nice as yours. Congrats!! And thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for sharing yr wisdom! Very interesting, really cool style!
You make it look easy lol that kinda work takes incredible patience
Awesome job. Amazing work. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. Thanks for putting it out there to find.
Resin and bondo mixed! Your a genius!
Thanks David awesome video!!!!!! Can't wait to try it!!
This is a real Art.Thank you for the video
Cool, i'll be sure to look out for the video on that as well. For now i think i have enough to tinker with lol
That really is a great tutorial. I have never thought of using filler and resin together. I seen in other post you use Bondo brand filler. I can see you know what you are doing. But 3M makes several great body fillers like all the lite types they have finishes many times easier than Bondo brand. They don't leave air holes nor do they have hard spots. They sand like a dream. Just thought I'd pass it along. The price isn't much different as well. Thanks for such a good detailed video.
Phil Lowman can you tell me the name of the other stuff? I'd like to try it
You have a great way of showing how average joes can custom make equipment. Love the build
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos!
that is some exquisite, detailed work
Dude you have some skills, good job 👍
I have a 84 MC SS I wanna do. Awesome work!
I wish you did more of these videos!!! Nice video!!!
Awesome Video!!!! Made pretty simple for those of us trying to learn this skill. Great Job.
+DDClowers Thanks! This was only my second time building one of these, so if I can do it, anyone can.
Great video, really wanna do this with my ‘79 Elky
Good job on this dash nice placement of the gauges and I see you watch sraywaycustoms videos as well your armor is still my favorite thing about you
Your work is awesome ...keep the videos coming ..
Excellent work, a really informative video. thanks!
Nice quality job....very helpful
Awesome video, I specially like the rondo technique. Thank you very much for sharing.
looks real good. I have a nova I think it's time for me to update my dashboard like this.
turned out very nice man i am going to give this method a try since the dash in my old Chevy luv 4x4 has lots of cracking and i really dig this custom look :) thanks for uploading and putting the seed thought to fix mine this way
Glad I could help! Have fun on your project!
Fricken soda can. I love it
Nice work.. Fantastic job!
Nice! Turned out Great!
very cool video. I did a similar thing to my nova dash a while back.
Dude you are a god with fiberglass working. And metal. Ive seen your armor videos too. 👍👏👏👏
Thank you! But I am very much a beginner with fiberglass. Metal...I know a fair amount
Excellent, and very informative. I have been considering this type of solution to my gauge placement issue.
But by fabricating a new console insert, using the method you've outlined, I think I'll be OK.
Thanks a lot! :)
You bet! I actually modified (heavily) a Mazda console for my '65 Impala using this method. Started some door panel parts from scratch too. It works very well for this stuff....but make sure you have the parts installed on the car BEFORE applying the resin. That way they are sure to fit when you put it back in the car. In this case, the dashboard was stiff enough that I didn't need to do that.By the way here's a pic of my Impala interior, all made with the same method, wrapped in leather'like vinyl (still not finished):

Pretty awesome, thank you for sharing it.👍
you sir are fantastic. I'm looking at doing this for my range rover.
Good Job Thanks for the Video David.
Dude that is art!
Wow looks great, thanks for the tips.
I clicked the like button because I learned something. Ignore the people who clicked on the thumbs down icon. Those people don't know how to change a light bulb, but want you to do the job for free. Great video. I am working to restore 94 Astro Van with a really badly cracked dashboard from the south Florida sun. I bought the van new and plan to use at least one of the tips in your video production. Thanks very much for making the video and sharing your considerable experience.
Thanks very much Dennis! I am glad I could help with your project

this vedio inspired me. I'm going to do my 77 f100 cluster this way. seems to be a little work but at the end,it will pay off. Thanks for sharing the vedio.
dude....that came out badass I'm jealous
Hey man - great tutorial! Keep up the great work!
thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
AWSOME thanks. I saw something with the mixture of bondo and fiberglass. I will be doing that on my fiberglass builds in the future. Man thanks for putting your work on youtube. You do great work!!!!!
Thanks very much! Glad i could help out and yes, "Rondo" makes thins MUCH easier!
All Good brother, I have messed with fiberglass projects for twenty years and never thought about mixing these two working materials. I wonder should I mix the hardeners slightly at first or do they react with each other quickly. I usually work in 90 plus degree temps here in louisiana.
You might want to experiment. I just add the amounts I think are about right and mix it up and go. I find that it cures slower than just Bondo, but faster than the resin alone.
All good Brother I will take it slow at first. I like to make things as perfect as the eye can see. My eyes are not like alot of folks out there. I see flaws in most things, and just have to fix it. Thanks for all your input with this topic.
great video like the detail keep it up will keep watching
Good video. Perfect composition. I can tell that you spend some time editing to keep the pace moving along, like a well cut movie.
There are a few very popular channels (cough-"finne--- cough--fab---) where the pace is tortuously slow.
Gorgeous work.
tutorial was excellent thank you!!!
thank YOU for watching!
Really nice job, thanks.
great video.. the product and the simplicity of the video.. A+
Thanks Dave. I will check it out.
outstanding tutorial,classic ingenuity
Thank you! If you like this one, be sure to check out my newer fiberglass tutorial where I do a custom engine bay
Wow dude! this is incredible!

Man, that is really cool!!
Looks GREAT!!
