    YES the shoes are surprisingly important. I got a pair of new balances and I've been going out more often which means more pics! Also good point about the toe box, I usually have to size up in order to fit my wider feet.

    Nice to see someone in the digital/film crossover space actually shooting canon mirrorless and overcoming the hype of the Fuji cameras. I had an Xt2 at one point, sold it and currently shoot a 5D classic w/ the 40mm pancake for everyday snapshots and then an eos R/R5 for work and MUCH prefer the rendering and working with Canon files in Lightroom. The canon cameras don't get you style points but they are functional and deliver great results. Sean Tucker touched on this topic of gear selection in his recent video and if I am feeling romantic, that's when I pick up one of my film cameras.

    I agree about the comfort of the Xero Prio shoes. Had mine for donkeys. I usually wear the Xero Z-Trek sandals for most of the year here in Sydney. You can’t get anymore minimalist than 5mm rubber sole. 😊 I have the same Ona Bowery bag but i wore the brass fittings out of the shoulder strap. You’ve got to love the patina with these as they age. Maybe I could use that line on the missus 😉

    Shoe recommendations are all cool idea. Bare foot shoes aren’t for me due to hygenic reasons but I definitely could use a good shoe as all of mine get holes in the heel area if I use them too much

      Hey! They're generally referred to as "barefoot" in the sense that that's how it's supposed to feel to wear them. Most people wear them with socks... or at least I prefer to😅

      Hey. After this and another comment I just did some test shots on the sky/horizon with the lens stopped down, and do see purple vignetting on that lens... something I didn't notice on my initial test shots indoor. I wasn't aware of this phenomenon!

    Hi Hashem, what length is your strap and is it soft enough to wrap around your wrist if need be ? I’m off to Vietnam soon and torn between 28 and 35mm (want to go on one lens solution only)- any advice ? Thx

    • @hashemmcadam
      @hashemmcadam  Před měsícem

      It is! Mine is around 32 inches, so something around that (depending on your height, neck, etc) is pretty good. That's always a tough choice, but I would pick 35mm if I had to take one lens. If you know you always like to shoot deep within the crowds, 28 will be better. But for versatility, I'd say 35.

    Hey Hashem, what settings do you use on the Action 2 for POV? 4K 16:9, what frame rate and what stabilization option when you mount it to your chest? Thanks!

    • @hashemmcadam
      @hashemmcadam  Před 7 měsíci

      Hey! Good questions. I usually use 2.7K 25fps (for most CZcams vlogs this is good enough and saves space) with the Rocksteady stabilisation. I've also experimented with Horizonsteady for certain situations, which can also work well.

    I'd love to see a pov of you shooting and how you determine your exposure as you don't have a light meter in the MA. My M6s light meter died and I'm gutted but I'm not sending it for repair as it costs too much at the moment. Will send it when it needs a cla.

    interesting video Hashem. How do you find the difference between 28 and 35 for travel? I tend to end up leaving my 28 on the camera.
    btw, I think you've mentioned it before, but which quick rewind lever are you using on your M-A?

    • @hashemmcadam
      @hashemmcadam  Před rokem +1

      I still battle with that choice sometimes! What I usually do is use the 28 if I'm going to be shooting anywhere dense or crowded, and have the 35 in standby. In other situations, I do the opposite. If I'm going to leave the house with just one lens, its usually 35mm (unless of course I know I'm going to shoot somewhere that the 28 would be better: like a protest, tight/indoor environments, wide landscapes, etc). In Bangladesh I found myself using the 28mm the most.

    • @perfectly_boring
      @perfectly_boring Před rokem

      @@hashemmcadam I tend to do the same. It's funny, because at the end of the day we probably wouldn't be able to tell much difference between the images and it causes a lot of stress before going out to shoot (or going on vacation) ;). One aspect where the 28 is clearly better is zone focusing, so that's usually why I end up taking the 28 (for street) and 35mm for travel photography/family photos

    Thx for your great video Hashem. I am also into adapting M-mount lenses to my R6 and experienced some mixed results. Some lenses behave well, others show significant purple corners, which are a pain to remove in post. For example the otherwise great APO lanthar 50/2 had this issue on my R6. Other even wider lenses go well... would love to know how your set of m-lenses behave on your R6. Anyway, nice channel :)

      I used the Zeiss 50 sonnar adapted the most so far, and that's definitely fine - it looks great on digital as much as film 😁

    • @hashemmcadam
      @hashemmcadam  Před rokem

      I just did some more test shots on the distant horizon and sky and can see what you're talking about! Especially on the Zeiss 35 which I had only tested briefly indoor, and the voigtlander 28 has it too. With the 50 Sonnar I can see hint of of purple towards the edges when shooting a plain subject stopped down, but on portraits and near/mid shots with shallow depth of field (as I'd been using it so far) I don't see the effect. Really weird! I guess it's just a phenomenon to do with the sensor vs the lens design?

    • @Regenrad
      @Regenrad Před rokem +1

      Yes, it seems to be a little science, which m-lenses perform well on a specific sensor, f.e. i once had an eos RP. it took the voigtlaender 28/2 without much color shift, on the R6 the magenta corners were obvious... nontheless i really like the combination of a mirrorless body and rangefinder lenses. it's really lightweight and compact, gives you all the digital focus tools and feels and handles really well. yours

    Hi Hashem ...good to see your gear and what you use. I was thinking of getting the DJI Action 2 but it does not have a 3.5 audio jack so how do you get around this on your adventures?

    • @hashemmcadam
      @hashemmcadam  Před rokem +1

      Hi! As with the gopro I had before, you can use a usb-3.5 adapter to connect an external mic. I've tested this with a cheap generic one from Amazon and it works well, a little mic symbol pops up and some options appear for mic settings. However, I was surprised to find that the inbuilt audio is actually pretty decent! And, the easiest way I found to get better audio when I needed it, was to just use the on-board recording feature of a Rode wireless GO II transmitter. This means no mess/effort with wires etc but you just have to add and sync that audio track later in editing.
