This is a very productive stretch of the river, as I'm sure you will discover. I landed a 24lb pike for a friend right on the fork and we hear of larger. I personally had four carp in one morning best 16lb, all wild. Lots of bream, tench and of course stacks of rudd to feed the pike. Biggest local carp some 35lb + I think taken 50m down from fork. BTW trees planted by me and Terry Wellstead some years back. Be careful when wet, banks slippery and very difficult to climb out. Winter floods bring river over the levees. Good luck.

Thanks for the info Roger very interesting I'm hoping to get up there somewhen over the Christmas period I want to try some stick float fishing as well as going for carp etc. I'm not quite sure what part of the fork to target for the carp bream and tench I was thinking of using 2 rods one targeting the tree snag that's poking out the water and the other one in the middle right in the center of the fork I would imagine bolies would be the bait to use but having never fished it before it'll be trial and error. The other thing is I haven't got a clue about any snags I guess I will have to find that out. Four carp to 16lb that's got me really excited can't wait to give it a go.

    Hi Alan,
Thanks for the tour. That is one lovely stretch of water. Loads to go at. Just my sort of place. Goldilocks river - not too big, not too small.
Re being too high from the water, I know exactly what you mean and would say firstly don't let that put you off fishing a good spot. If it's awkward for you it will be for everyone and will therefore receive less angling pressure. Secondly, have you thought about taking your spade with you and digging yourself a nice step closer to water level? I have done it many times and it takes less effort than you would imagine. You need to make sure your club don't mind and the only problem is you are making the swim more fishable for others.
    Tight lines,
    Nic

Thanks, Nic that's a good idea about the spade never thought of that i totally agree i'm not going to let the high bank put me off and will certainly give those areas a go the angler who i got talking to said it doesn't bother him but i don't like the idea of stretching with the landing net whilst playing the fish and although on the video the bank doesn't look that high it actually is. I also think i should invest in a longer landing net . I can't wait to try this spot it's not teaming with carp and the chances are i'll probably blank but it's certainly worth a go. I had to cringe slightly when i watched this video back when i said about the nettles etc dying back in the summer i actually meant to say winter one of those things i would have edited out but never mind i look forward to your next adventure.

Hahaha I did notice the nettles thing but I knew what you meant. Don't worry, you are not alone. Some of the things I say when I'm talking to the camera! What a pillock. You have probably noticed the edit points in my videos when I'm talking. I forget peoples names, the date, the day etc etc hahaha.
Good luck here, it looks bang on to me.
      Tight lines.

Hi Alan. Whereabouts up the river is this? I usually go as far as Passies Pond but really fancy trying this spot.

Hi James, Firstly you have to be a member of Henfield AS to fish this part of the river, this particular spot is known as the Fork it's where the river splits into 2 sections one section is known as the Western arm the other is the Eastern arm. I don't know if you Henfield at all if you can get to the Old Railway Inn pub which I think is at the top of Church Street there is a right next to the pub. Drive past the car park go then turn right down Stonepit Lane which is next to a new Barratts housing estate. Follow the road right round to your left keep going until you get to I think the second turning on the right you will see a gate which has only access for members of Henfield AS you go through the gate follow it round to your left there you will come to a car park and you''ll see a Henfield AS notice board walk past that keep going straight on and you will find this part of the right in front of you . If your not a member of Henfield AS then you will have to walk up the river from Streatham Bridge and it's a fair walk hope this helps mate.
