My favorite kit to turn into an 80's Outlaw Roundy Round Race Car! 🏁🏁
It really has so much potential. I'm thinking of getting a couple more. Make a roundy rounder, a Super Stock drag car. Even use this body to go onto the old Camaro Pro Stock kit to do a proper later 80s Pro Stock. Because the Pro Stock kits were all 82-84 body styles. Oh man🤦 I can get all OCD on this. Thanks a lot, Tim.
Fan of your story telling. Always enjoy the origin stories, keep em coming.
We will!
your insights on the history on the kits and real cars is one of the reasons i subscribed to you, definitely keep these coming please.
Thank you so much.
Love that Z28! My dad had one, he let me drive it to get my license. Man, such great memories! Thanks for sharing! ✌️😎
Right on
The Revell Jeep rubicon that came out a few years ago was also a glorified snap kit, but built up to a very nice kit as well even though it didn’t have an engine.
Yep. It was. Like I said. Snap kits should not get overlooked.
Thanks for doing this video. Been wanting to build a couple of these since I got back into model building this year. I'm wanting to get my skills back up before I do because I want to replicate the ones I owned back in the day with my mullet, ear ring and parachute pants, lol. Yes, it's all true.
I had a White with Gold 82 Cross Fire Injection, the hood scoop louvers would open when I accelerated hard. Also had a black with orange and red stripes, 85 Camaro H.O. 5-speed, blk/orange and red stripes, came from the factory with a drivers side Lear Siegler Conteur seat, I didn't like the plain silver Z28 wheels so I bought a set of IROC-Z wheels.
Very cool kit review and history lesson on that kit. Looks like with some paint detailing it can be a nice replica of the real car. Thanks for sharing.
That's right
It's funny that you uploaded this video today. This past Saturday I bought this kit from Hobby Lobby. I had been putting it off because I feared that it was a snap kit and you showed the origin of it. A few months ago, I built the Revell 1981 Z28on my channel and even though I thought it turned out pretty well it actually turned out to be the most hated video on my channel. I am guessing that it's not because of the way that it looks but more to the point because of the kit basically being a snap as well. I have to guess at this because I had a ton of thumbs down on the video but zero comments that could be considered negative. Knowing all of this, I am wondering if I should just build this one for myself and keep it off the channel. Thanks for your video and for sharing the origins of this kit.
Well First. Do whatever video you want to do. I've had duds too. As a matter of fact. The type of video I want to do more of. My interview videos or "podcasts" get very little views compared to my other videos. I don't care. I like doing them. So those are becoming the majority of my focus for this channel. It will catch on. So you should do that video.
As for snap kits. These "Haters" have no idea what they are missing out on. So many great kits that are snaps
Not my favorite subject but love learning about the history of kits. Keep pounding the drum.
Thanks George 😁
thanks for posting !
Love the origin stories of these kits Luca. Keep m coming!
Thank you. I will
Hey Luca, I had a 1:1 92 RS V-8 5spd T-top in Polo green loved that car. I was building models from around 79 to 91. I had the Simon and Simon car back when I was in high school. After I joined the NAVY I built a couple planes, but now that I'm getting back into the hobby after being out for around 30 years I really enjoy you BG, Jason and Chuck talk about your builds and stuff from back in the day. Can't wait to get my man cave set up to start creating again and gathering all my favorite kits to build once again as my skills are much better now. Have a good one my friend keep gluein and cutting that Styrene 👍
Right on. Thanks for watching and listening. We will keep doing them.
thanks for the very interesting video sir
This is a good kit to build a police package Camaro as it doesn't have T-tops. It's a decent kit when built up!
I forgot to bring that up. ON T-Tops! 😃
That was very interesting. You know a lot. Thanks for sharing. Loved it.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for this Luca! 3rd gen Firebirds/Camaros are some of my favorite all time cars. I was wondering how this kit looked and I'll probably end up with a whole shelf of them eventually.
I had a Iroc Z. It was my favorite car I’ve had
My favorite generation of Camaro because I grew up in the 1980s. But I notice the car in the TV show had T-tops whereas this one is a fixed roof. I've seen the newest version of this kit built up and it does look nice despite its simplicity. Most of the Camaro kits I have had have been snap together models, so I think I can find room for this one in my collection.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching
SNAP KIT!!!! Dang and I bought 2 of them. Oh well, gonna make a pro street out of one them anyway. Thanks for the info.
Really enjoyed the design history you presented. I had no idea there were two versions of the Simon and Simon car.
Pretty neat. Isn't it?
I have a 2 of the monogram Camaro kits. 👍
I have one of these releases.. eventually going make into the Thunder Hawk from the MASK 80s cartoon. Great vid! Subbed!!
Cool idea! Thanks for coming aboard!👍
My only problem with this kit is the price. For under 50 parts, it should be a little less. Maybe it is the large decal sheet that drives the price up. I still want it, though. Good video, as always. Thanks!
I have and built the Simon & Simon kit such a great kit built as a kid actually glued it together does it still qualify as a snap kit 🤣 have a great week appreciate and enjoy all your videos 🏁🏁
Thank you
Pretty cool comparison there LC! Thanks for sharing! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go listen to the Simon and Simon theme song again….🎶🎶🎸🎶🎶😂
LOL I almost put it in the video. 😆
@@TheLukaCeeChannel 😂 it’s one of my favorite tv theme songs.
Nice history on the kit. Yeah, it is a snap kit, but that is fine with me. Thanks for sharing.
My point exactly.
sweet kit Luka i remember the 84/85 everybody was throwing the 5;7 motor in them with the R700 trans nice thinkin box art blew by you 😁🤩😎
Got it
I noticed on the Simon and Simon Camaro it has a molded in top where as the actual car used on the show had a sliding top.
😆 I know and thank goodness. I should have shown the decal sheet. Monogram provided a big black decal to represent that Targa top. 😆
I have that one in my stash. I wish I’d known there was a 1:25 ‘83. I don’t think I’d pay $80 for one, but I owned an ‘83 and would rather build it. Mine was brown with the orange accent stripe. Peace and love.
It's been just a few years since it was last produced. But the AMT 83. Is a very nice kit. I have a couple. They are not hard to find for a decent price.
i got me one just for the body to fit a NASCAR Frame under it to build a IROC Race Car
I like the 84 bumpers .. way better imo
I kinda agree with you. I fell in love with the 3rd Gen Camaro in 82, the second I first saw one. So I am partial to the early ones. I had an 84. It's the only Z I ever owned. The others I had were T/As. My best friend from High School bought a brand new 84 Trans Am. Brown metallic with silver lower. My God, what a car. The 84 T/A. Talk about a one off year. Now THATS for another video.
My favorite all time kit and my first kit I remember building as a kid. The 83 z28 was the car my dad had when I was kid and wished I could have kept it in the family it appears to have met it’s demise 30 years ago somewhere in Ohio as the title is wrecked. I may have build about 20 in every factory color and maybe have about 35 unbuilt versions that kit is my weakness!
Right on! It would be cool if we would see this kit come back out as an 83. But I don't think that will ever happen. I do hope to track down a couple more one day.
YOU MADE LEARNING FUN!
😆😂 AND FUNDAMENTAL! Don't forget THAT! Especially the "MENTAL" part.
@@TheLukaCeeChannel Didn't fell I needed to point out the obvious...
Man, how we've lowered the bar. A snap kit is a 'Level 4' lol. I remember the NASCAR kits being Level 2!
That said, I'm grabbing one for my 9yo!
Now THATS the kind of attitude we need in this hobby. 🤦
I have this one and the early Simon and Simon version from Monogram.
The 83 version? That's a keeper.
Yes, got it some years ago. Loved Simon and Simon so my intention is to build it as the show car.
This looks like a great candidate for the upcoming USACC group build. It’s 1/24 scale, so that will really upset Chuck.
😆 That would depend on the next content creator that Matthew picks to make the choice.
There was also a Z28-E European version of the Z28 made buy a Japanese company in 1/24 scale
Yes, I mentioned that in the video.
Is it really that important to you that this kit is 1/24? I take it the Firebird you have built is 1/24? I do get that, but if I can get a subject in either scale, I'm good. 1/24 or 1/25 doesn't matter to me as long car in a series are the same scale. I hate that the original run of Shelby Mustangs are both scales. Two 1/24 Monograms, two 1/25 AMT's and a 1/25 Revell as the coda. Cool video! I dug it! One detail you didn't mention about the IROCs: they had their own wheel which was 16" versus the Z/28 base, and RS's 15" wheels.
👍
A guy i work with has a 25th anniversary iroc that id like to build a model of but no idea what kit to get. I believe 25th anniversary would be a 92 and i dont know what all was different from the one in this video as ive never really been into camaros myself
The ground effects were different in 92. AMT did a kit that car. It's called "Heritage Edition" Z.
@@TheLukaCeeChannel awesome ill have to look for it. Hopefully find a reasonably priced one here in canada lmao jk they all cost an arm and a leg up here lol
wait wat no way hosea😲
I would be pissed if I got that expecting a glue kit..!!!
I can totally understand. That is why it was a bad move on Revel's part,NOT to put that on the box. That's apart of why I made this video. With that aside. It really does build into a very nice Z/28 in 1/24th scale.
@@TheLukaCeeChannel Actually... I can see that. Knowing what I now know and actually seeing the kit, ...I would buy if I have a chance.!!
I would rather have a monte carlo than I would a tomorrow
I just finished this kit. Its a really good kit. Most of it will still snap together. You are right the proportions are just about perfect. If you want to make it mettalic blue i would recommend the tamiya mettalic blue spray can. It looks great on this car, its the color i used. If you want to see what i did with it its on my channel czcams.com/play/PLbcIW8ECKWgPkv6bBhXV94qYWbhgUWyMi.html&si=tZJehc5WUTb8maTQ
Cool Thanks. That is the Exact paint I was planning on using. It looks dead on. Even better. Shoot it over Tamiya silver flake as the base. 😲
Yeah, I just looked at your blue Z video. Very nice. Man, you have got me charged up to build mine, now.
@TheLukaCeeChannel didnt think of using the silver base. Will try that on my next blue build. They used a very similar color on the fiero.
@TheLukaCeeChannel cant wait to see what you do with yours. full reveal video coming soon
