I ran progressive dies in presses from 90 tons, 170 strokes per minute to 600 ton minster for 18 years, it was rewarding and I am proud of the work I did. We ran many different parts from simple to complex. Every Ford vehicle with a v6 engine til 2006 has parts I made. A great career (and I still have all my fingers!

Great video! I was in the trade for 16 years here in Chicago, and although I moved onto a better career, I miss the craftsmanship and the ingenuity required to make a die run well

Man I really miss running presses. This deserves so many more views and comments. That thump when the ram hits bottom! And you were smart enough to not cover the natural sound with stupid music :-)

I ran presses like that for 8 years. Along with linear transfer presses.

Brings back a lot of memories. I built dozens if not hundreds of those 8'/12' prog dies back in the seventies, eighties and nineties. Now they make most of those overseas and leave the diemakers left here in the U.S. to build the very large size dies.
The 16'-24' dies forced me out of the trade, by my choice, because things got too heavy for me and the handling equipment, not to mention the machine tool tables being overloaded. Seemed like a giant race to the bottom of the barrel!
