It is finally here! The long wait for the next chapter in the Five Nights at Freddy's Saga is here! With the Ruin DLC Steelwool studios offer a completely free expansion as long as you own the base game Security Breach.
This time the tone is much darker as the Pizzaplex has been run down and destroyed. We clearly can see the remnants of what occurred during our playthrough as Gregory. Now we play as Cassie as we get lured to the Pizzaplex once more to find Gregory. Along the way we run into old familiars and favorites like Roxy Wolf and Chica Chicken.
Gameplay wise they got rid of the open rooms where you have to run and hide and instead the sections are much more scripted. But this does result in some very cool scenarios and variety since the type of puzzles always come with a new twist. Even though the tone is much darker, you can still see all the details in the art design and even here its environment still shines and feels like a real, lived-in place.
There are some really cool twists and turns as well and it always put a smile on my face when I recognized an area from Security Breach. And despite many areas being the same, they feel completely different and Ruin DLC is a perfect example of how to reutilize maps and environments without them feeling rehashed. Steelwool have done an amazing job and it now shows me that the FNAF franchise was made for proper 3D exploration games. There is just so much to see and explore and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

When we find Freddy stuck under all that junk, notice how his foot says “prototype.” This leads me to believe that the Freddy we see chasing us here is not the same Freddy that was helping Gregory. In the base game we can see Freddy’s feet whenever we upgrade him in PAS or when he was laying down during his malfunction. Perhaps this “Evil Freddy” was one of the Endos with a different casing?

The part where Cassie said "It's breaching time" and proceeded to security breach all over the place is truly one of the gaming moments of all time.
Almost as good as the part where she said "Time to ruin!" and then ruined everything.

Spoiler warning for those who haven't read the books.
In one of the books a man who works on animations(I forgot his name) created a prototype endo skeleton that would mimic whatever it saw someone do or how they acted,the man's son and the animatronic got along amazing until one day the boys ball went into the road and he was killed by oncoming traffic,the father who was grieving and extremely annoyed was approached by the animatronic mimicking his son so he got super pissed and started beating the animatronic,some time later after the man disappeared and the prototype was left alone with no one but the man to mimic when I believe technicians from fredbears came to see if the man was there(because I think he went missing) they found nothing but the prototype,the prototype mimicked the actions of the man and killed all the technicians and roamed free,this prototype given the name "The Mimic" fittingly mimicked people wich is obviously why it had Gregory's voice when it appeared and through the walkie talkie,how it got to the pizza plex is unknown to me but the books will expand on it probably however obviously Cassie faces it not once but twice,the first is when Hero Roxy saves Cassie and she runs away however when she falls down the elevator thanks to Gregory's fucking betrayal(instant least favourite character to me tbh) it isn't Roxy who says "Cassie" it's the mimic mimicking Roxy since obviously it won the fight and is now mimicking her meaning Cassie is absolutely and certifiedly screwed and we will probably find her bloody corpse somewhere one day in the pizza plex. Crackhead theory Scott Cawthon did a self insert as the mimic.
I thought the Mimic was pretending to be Gregory. Throughout the gameplay, Gregory sounds off, like an AI voice or something.
2:11:19 it’s probably the saddest part of this whole game, Roxy wasn’t even like an animatronic here, she was like an actual person and it broke my heart.

I like that they revealed the nuance that Freddie told Gregory.
Freddy mentioned that Roxy, Chica, and Monty are not the aggressors, however, this statement is only false for Monty, since the reports that Gregory finds very often record the aggressive behavior of the Crocodile.
Chica and Roxy is a different story. And even though nothing can be done about Chika, given how she suffered, Roxy still retains self-awareness. It is thanks to Roxy that it is clear that Freddy did not lie about his friends, as her aggressive behavior immediately changes when she realizes that she is facing a different person. Perhaps she was not so aggressive towards Gregory, and the defeat at her hands was nothing more than a necessary game convention.
I believe the reason Roxy wasn't aggressive toward Cassie after she realized who she was is because Gregory was never recorded in the Pizzaplex's visitor database. Cassie was safe because Roxxie realized that not only was Cassie a past visitor, but she had a party there which was likely hosted by Roxxie herself.

But still, it seems to me that making an alternative storyline for Gregory would be too difficult both in terms of thinking through this option so as not to ruin the atmosphere and the overall narrative, and in terms of financial costs (considering that the release of Security Breach was so delayed that the author made a simple beat em up with a funny joke on the topic "Oh my god, the deadlines are burning, and the game is not finished. The fans will kill me!").

I was so sad watching this playthrough, I seriously love the pizzaplex :( It used to be such a sweet, fun and calming place (especially rockstar row, monty golf and fazer blast), and seeing it became so dull and broken down really broke my heart 😭
This just made Security Breach 10 times better.. The best thing to wake up to, a brand new fnaf DLC.

Roxy giving Monty a haircut is one of the best things i've seen. Really shows that even if the Pizzaplex is closed they still interact with each other and how SENTIENT the glamrocks are😅

I appreciate that although you knew how to do things already, you simulated this playthrough with the perspective of a blind player taking a few moments to understand how puzzles work, getting alarmed by the scripted scares, it helped everything feel immersive.
The story telling that is happening in the environment around you is so detailed. There is lore hidden and in plain sight quite literally every where
I almost cried when Cassie deactivated Roxy. Hearing Cassie cry after deactivating her friend, almost broke my heart. But hearing Roxy's voice at the end, make me think that her friendship isn't over.

It’s because he wasn’t in their data frame, where as Cassie had already interacted with Roxy before so she knew her. And I don’t see why Gregory, to him they were trying to kill him.

This dlc is so well done. It’s clearly visible that they learned from the mistakes of the base game and they had a bunch of good ideas to fix it. The scripted jumpscares are lifting the whole experience and it was pretty good to see that they added even more depth to Roxy. And that ending holy shit… I don’t know what exactly happened but if at the very end of the game the voice who guided out Cassie from the basement was really the real Gregory, I’m unable to decide which one of them is the more horrible, the fake or the real Gregory.
I disagree entirely...still the same broken infuriating mess.
I don't like how the ending heavily resembles Poppy Playtime Ch2's so much, kid voice talking to you through a speaker and tries to explain what's going on, while they're apparently taking you to freedom through a machine, but something happens and plans change into an apparent betrayal, they get ambushed and cut short as you go back in by force, ending with a crash and a tease of what's to come next

This was scotts concept first and its an amazing DLC, it really adds to security breach especially since that wasnt that great but the DLC was. It doesnt matter how different the concepts are played out, its still the same concept, im not saying that poppy playtime is bad, i’m saying that this was scotts idea and plan first either way because he has a concept and idea already planned out, this was already planned out, you can tell by his books and lore that it was already something he was working on and planned out. Its a coincidence, theres so many coincidences like this that have been proven to be even more unbelievable, this is probably the most believable coincidence that i’ve seen.

This is a huge step up from the base game. Returning back to the dilapidated, vandalized building alongside the animatronics being in disrepair and the inclusion of the Security Mask is way more innovative and intense than the entire 4 hours of the main game. Also Cassie’s friendship with Roxy was surprisingly moving being that Roxy was the only one there for Cassie when no one showed up to her party. Steel Wool is definitely listening and stepping up their game.

Yeah I thought it wasn't Gregory since the trailer. But in the gameplay I started thinking "woah how does Gregory know so much about the security sistem?" and it made it more obvious to me that it was not Gregory. It is probably the mimic.

I can’t remember completely off the top of my head, but him saying “nice trick, huh?” to Cassy after she mentioned the voice mimicking. That’s the mimic speaking *through* Helpy/the VANNI system. His eyes go yellow and he gets a crack on the side of his head, and then when he goes back to regular, professional programming, he’s got his regular blue eyes and no damage. It’s REALLY cool.
Definitely gonna check out all of the voice lines that are regular Helpy and whenever the Mimic is talking through him (which is what I assume is happening).

Many people thought Roxy had some kind of new mask on when they first saw the trailer but after watching 2:10:56 It is actually her original appearance. Just without the wolf mask. You can see her outer wolf parts just BARLEY hanging in there.
I still feel bad she was blind this whole entire time but she was able to recognized Cassie by her voice.

I didn’t even know they were making a DLC for Security Breach. When I saw it in my recommended videos I was soo happy. Although I did enjoy SB and how the FNAF world wasn’t just confined to flipping in between rooms and cameras, this dlc it amazing. I personally believe this is what the base game should’ve been more like. These jump scares and animatronics are crazy good. This is actually slightly scary and the kind of thing I expected when the base game came out. Love this!
