I got the OLED from an older model. It's totally gorgeous, and as someone who plays handheld a lot, the aesthetic improvement + the kickstand is fantastic. As I revisit games and play new ones down the line, I think the OLED screen experience will have made it worth it; but still totally understand if someone doesn't want to drop the cash to upgrade (if you don't have a Switch though it's a no brainer)

As much as I'd have loved a more powerful Switch, I think that the OLED was the perfect thing to release at this time. If it had been a Switch Pro, a lot of us would be stressing over finding one in stock, much like the Xbox Series and PS5. In the meantime, having a regular Switch doesn't mean you're missing out on extra performance, and if you play mostly docked like I do, you aren't missing out on a thing. It's very cool that handheld players still get a nice upgrade.

@PlayerEssence, I’m glad that Nintendo Switch OLED Model is doing so well. Despite being a slight hardware refresh, the differences are notable. Nintendo gets to have the “newest toy” on the market, keeping the brand name relevant and not get lost next to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, while lengthening their console’s overall lifetime.
Keep delivering hit game, one after the other, all throughout 2022 and maybe in 2023 we see a Nintendo Switch Plus. What happens then? Once again, Nintendo stays talk of the town, keeping the NS brand powerful, satisfying gamers with souped up hardware and software, till the eventual Nintendo Switch 2 launch.
Then again, they could go straight to a successor console, but there really is an opportunity here to stretch out the generation if they want to. What a great platform. Nintendo nailed it and now just need to hold onto that momentum.

Yeah. I was also critical of it. But I have said after...i see what it is...a marked improvement...and the "swan song" for the current line of SWITCH.
The only other update I see coming would be the SWITCH LITE. They have done this in the past with handhelds as we have seen. I think if they do not have plans for it..they should.
A SWITCH Lite2. Bigger screen in the same area of SWITCH LITE screen real estate. With the same updates(sans the kickstand of course)
After that...SWITCH.2 or SWITH 4K? possibly... is what we are waiting for in the future.
BUT yeah all in all, removing any disappointments and being critical about any shortcomings ...(as I already commented on other videos). This is obviously THE BEST version of the switch. If you are now going to buy one for the first time. This is it. If your current switch breaks...this is it.
    Pretty straight forward, yup.
It is the swan song...and then we prepare for the evolution in the next. Love the switch so much.
I am currently enjoying Super Mario All Stars. Sometimes I have the game running on my ol trusty N64, while I am also playing it on the switch in portable mode. Showing the classics to my nieces and nephews and have them playing it. As I play the All Stars version. Time flies when you are having fun eh. Look how far things have come. I saw this since GBA that one day we would have a powerful console in the pocket.

People are ignoring that we're in the middle of a chip shortage; this WAS supposed to be the Switch PRO!
Nintendo couldn't secure enough of the next generation chips so they had to rebrand what this new system, that was already being built and assembled, would have as its marketing hook.
This just shows that the system itself for what it was meant to enhance was an absolute sell banger, but the chips just weren't available. So as soon as they are available it's already been proven that all of these things are what people want.
So give it another 2 years, and we're just going to get the switch pro, that is going to be everything of the OLED, but with that newer generation processor.

Honestly at first I was more on the side of disappointment, but after doing some RESEARCH, and seeing that I could upgrade for 100 dollars through GameStop, I was sold! And after playing on an oled screen for the first time, I’m a believer and happy I upgraded.

Well imagine Xbox combining The Xbox elite controller series 3 whenever that comes out on the Xbox series X pro into a portable handheld with a 8K 120 Hz OLED 10 inch display In 2023 If the Xbox series X pro is out in 2023 then I could see this selling for $1000 with the same storage as the Xbox series X pro and a carrying case That is rugged and durable And that to me would be a win where are you just need to pair your phone hotspot to get Internet or play games that don’t require Internet

97 percent of people who buy Nintendo products knew it would not fail just like we know you will never say anything against that company.

I think it's because nintendo saw the success of tablets and mobile gaming and decided to make their own tablet console and it worked! I'm guessing it helped capture a younger consumer base as well. If anyone thought this would fail they are out of touch with reality because I almost always see a kid or teenager using a tablet these days it's such a stupidly obvious idea that I'm surprised Sony and Microsoft didn't try to make one first.

The Oled isn't selling because of Scalpers.. yes their is some scalping but at retail they are struggling to keep dem on store shelves... The demand is real and not artificially created with scalping, even in Japan they have to have lotteries to find switches.

Nobody is saying that the OLED version should fail, the question was why didn’t Nintendo put these new features to the original model back in 2017. The timing of the OLED release was off which made a lot of people angry. Lol regardless the outrage, it’s Nintendo. They’re gonna sell like hotcakes brah 😂😂😂

Nintendo nearly died twice during GameCube and WiiU era so yeah I'm happy they rise again with Switch. 2022 and beyond will be another test for Nintendo. Can they survive the new gen era of gaming? Xbox series and ps5 are on the rise especially ps5 which keep selling well in USA and Europe and start rising in jpn. Not to mention other competition like mobile gaming and cloud gaming and portable pc like steamdeck. Yeah fingers crossed Nintendo next console can be as successful as Switch.

Hey Sherlock, we are in the middle of a major chip shortage. Where would Nintendo get that Next Gen chip from at this point in time? They made the right choice given the situation!!!
