    In this episode, we'll take some home decor items from the thrift store and give them a makeover through DIY! First, we'll take an oriental-looking birdcage and make it into more of a farmhouse type of birdhouse through DIY. Next, we'll take a dress form that we got from the thrift store and decoupage the entire thing with aged advertisement paper. Lastly, I'll show you how to make an easy sphere ornament in just minutes! So, if you're ready...then let's do this!!!

    The good thing about the pieces still being flexible, when you remove the from the molds, if you don't let them dry hard, in the molds, you can set then on a curved edge of where you want to glue them, and they'll dry into the curve they need to have, to fit snug on things like a cup, cloche, or any curved surfice.

    Loved the Valentine’s Day Tree.
    That bird cage is adorable. Great idea using the IOD’s. There are the greatest creation’s. Also loved the dress form ( my mind went totally blank as what it’s called) Super idea putting on that tissue newspaper designs n putting it on that 99 cent candle stand. Loved it!!! I’m telling you, in Michigan you guys have the best thrift stores. I never find the cool stuff you get. Darn I wish I didn’t live so far away.
    I kick my self in the behind for getting rid of all my hoops. I could of made a bunch of those spears. I’ll keep my eye for some more n this time I’ll keep them. It’s always rewarding watching you each week. I know there’s always going to be many cool things to see n want to make. ♥️♥️😊👍👍 OXOX

    Just seeing your channel, you do wonderfully creative things. One hint (because I was urging you throughout your decoupage trial!!!) Hon, decoupaging with ModPodge is 99% easier if you tear your pieces and yes, smaller is better, but when you tear the paper instead of cutting, the edges seem to "feather" into one another. Take it from an old lady who started "mod podging" back in the sixties!!! Smile.....no worries, everything was gorgeous in the long run!!

    Just za thought, but you maybe could have put a wooden ball, painted, with one area sanded flat to match the dressform botto and glue it down firm,y. The other side is round to fit the curve of the top of the candlestick, so glue that into the center. It would give the inserted ball the look of being the center of a flower and the dress form growing out of it. Less work for you. Love the channel and watch you religiously!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

    Great job on all but I think your mod Podge was a bit too thick or you didn't have enough on the bottom. You need to really saturate your bottom layer so the paper will get really wet. Sometimes it even helps to wrinkle your paper up, which softens it, so it will be much easier to lay. But if the glue on the bottom isn't evenly layered, you will have air pockets. I just adore your work, love your videos, love your talent!

    I love recycling!! Thank you. I was in a Flea Market Store today and they had all kinds of project items. The darn minute I walked in I started looking at stuff and my mind went blank as to what I needed to start a project. I found 3 bags of corks $2 a bag. I grabbed them up right away. I need to remember not to go crazy when I walk in a place. Any suggestions?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Susan! OH...that's AWESOME you went out thrifting...it's one of my favorite things to do!!! I love recycling, too! You are so funny when you wrote..."your mind went blank"! LOL Sometimes...I have to stop and think...."Alright, what are you really going to do with this?!?!" It's easy to go crazy because you can have a flood of ideas but just think about the amount of return on an item. Is it going to require too much time to recycle? Is it more time than what the item is worth? Otherwise you can get so much stuff and be overwhelmed! Some things I need to pass up because they just aren't worth all the effort needed to make them work. That will help in deciding whether or not to purchase something. Hope that helps! XOXO

  • @denisepope8599
    @denisepope8599 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Wouldn’t a spoon help you get the mold clay out of the containers better or is there a reason why you can’t use a spoon against the clay.
    A brayer would help you with smooth out your clay in the mold and cut out the excess and a credit or the circuit spatula would do. Things I have witnessed other crafters use.
    Non skid mat would be great under the dress form to keep it from moving around so much.

      Hi Kim! Well, she has been having a few health issues and just had surgery, however, everything went well and is on the mend. My Mom is in her 70's and she kind of likes to do her own thing. CZcams can be like a job at times and she likes to be able to do things with her friends, etc....without the pressure of a schedule for taping. She doesn't want another job, she always jokes. HEE HEE My Mom and I still go thrifting together and go out to lunch, but she doesn't want to commit herself to doing videos....which I totally understand! I tell her...everyone is always asking about her and would love to see her....so, we'll see. Maybe I can get her to do another episode. I guess it's....To be continued..... HEE HEE Thanks for asking about her! XOXO

    If u cut the paper like when making a blouse and a skirt it was more easy no waste and faster that is like when we are making a pinata 🪅

    Hi Kelly. Hope you guys are safe and well. Do you get a lot of cracking once your clay dries? And how important is it to keep your clay supplies airtight? Does it last the distance is what I am asking. I see you have two reasonable sized pots of each. I like the birdcage. I was a bit sad that you painted the existing birds, but I understand they were not your style. Bless you are your mom

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Fiona! The Magic Sculpt never dries up, until you mix two equal parts of it together. Now, if you're using Paperclay, which I do use a lot too...that will dry up on you, unless you put it in an air tight ziplock bag. If you have any questions...don't hesitate to ask! PS>I'm sorry I made you sad by painting over the birds. : ( I had to, though...it just wasn't me or what I like. Hope you understand. XOXO

    If the surface was rounded would it allow the clay to “mold”?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey, Delaine! Yes, you most definitely could mold these around a rounded piece because they are very flexible before they dry. If you have any questions...don't hesitate to email me or send me a text! Nice talking to you, today!!! : )

    I use air dry clay, is there a benefit to using the resins in the molds thanks 😇

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      I actually use both...but, I probably use the resin more. The reason I use resin is because it is so durable. I make all my furniture applique pieces out of it so that I don't have to worry if a piece gets knocked around that the applique piece is going to break. Also, I make finished pieces and sell them on Etsy....so, for all my finished appliqué pieces I use the resin, as well because there is less chance of them getting broken in transport. Hope that helps explain the benefit of resin...it's durable.

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      Kathryn, I had to keep washing my hands in-between applying pieces because you're absolutely right....your fingers get full of pod podge!!! There's no way around it unless you wear gloves but even then you'd have to be changing them frequently. I have to say...it was totally worth it, though!! I love the dress form and I'm going to keep it!!!

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  Před 2 lety +1

      Even though, I didn't in the video....yes, you should always take the price tag off, otherwise...the people are going to want it for whatever the sticker says. I have forgotten to take stickers off and have had people say, "Well...it says this on the back...so, can I have it for that?" Always take your stickers off, otherwise you just run into problems!
