  • This is Day 1 of 30 day learning Oracle Goldengate challenge commencing from 29th may 2024.
In Day1 of Oracle GOldengate Classic Architecture training we discussed about below:
    Introduction to Oracle Goldengate :
In 2009 Oracle acquired goldengate and since then it is called as oracle golden gate and till 2017 there is only one goldengate architecture . In 2017 another goldengate architecture was introduced.
There are two types of Golden Gate architecture:
    1- Classic Architecture
    2- Microservices Architecture
Classic Architecture : It is command prompt based Architecture and is available for oracle as well as non oracle platforms.
In classical Architecture there are different type of processes which are Extract processes and Replicat processes. Goldengate is a change data capture tool. Whatever changes are happening in the database
those changes are stored in redo logs of database. Goldengate source are redo logs or archive logs of a database. Goldengate processes capture the data from source database and applied it to target
    database.
Microservices Architecture : It was introduced in 2017 and you manage it through GUI and it is available on cloud integration as well. Until today microservices is available for Oracle Databases only.
Oracle Goldengate Veridata : Oracle Golden Gate has another tool called Veridata. It is a separate licensed tool and is used to verify data. It doesn’t need any downtime while verifying the data.
In single liscence we get to work with both classic and Microservices architechture. For working with veridata seperate
    license is required.
    Why Goldengate?
Goldengate is near real time replication and it supports heterogeneous environment and heterogeneous platforms across different databases. It is high performance with low impact tool can and move large data volumes very efficiently. No single point of failure. It is an object level replication.
There are two types of extract processes.
    1- Classic Extract process
    2- Integrated Extract process
Classic extract is there since beginning . Capture process is external to database and it reads the data in sequential manner and capture only committed transaction. In integrated capture log minor build happens and logminer sends changes in the form of LCR to the Extract process. Performance of integrated capture is very high and much faster than classic capture. It creates less load on the database
    as well.
    Types of Replicat
    1- Nonintegrated or Classic Replicat
    2- Integrated Replicat
    3- Co ordinated Replicat
    4- Parallel Replicat
    a. Parallel integerated Replicat
    b. Parallel nonintegrated Replicat
    Post-session assignment:
    1) complete lab setup for both VMs
    2) create database instances on both nodes

Could you please insights into new features of OGG 23ai architecture or how vector hub manages, replicate with multi environments etc.
    Thank you.
