- A short film showcasing one of South Africa's most iconic and beautiful hiking trails, The Otter Trail.
The five day Otter Trail runs along the spectacular coastline between the Storms River mouth and Nature's Valley. It is considered on the the best multi-day hikes in the world. You also come across the famous Bloukrans river on the fourth day, which is usually one of the main talking points throughout the hike. The huts are situated a few meters from the ocean, which makes for fantastic views.
Day 1: Start to Ngubu huts - 4,8km (2-hours)
Day 2: Ngubu to Scott huts - 7,9km (4-hours)
Day 3: Scott to Oakhurst huts - 7,7km (4-hours)
Day 4: Oakhurst to Andre huts - 13,8km (6-hours)
Day 5: Andre huts to De Vasselot / Nature’s Valley - 10,8km (5-hours)

Walked Otter in 1976. Shelters - no doors, windows or chairs, beds etc. No toilets or ablutions. Finished in 3 and a half days. Would not say it is greatest in SA but worth adding to your bucket list. Have done most other trails including all of Table Mountain. My son's first ascent was Woodhead Buttress when he was 10 months old on his fathers back. Fish River 3x. I am now 83 with back problems otherwise would still be out there with a backpack. Happy walking.

Did the Otter Trail in September 2007; I was visiting one of my best friends who lived in Cape Town and he said I should see if any spots were available and sure enough there was one space open! Without a doubt the most amazing 5 days of my life in the outdoors. I never did see the otters, but I did get to see lots of whales and dolphins. Thanks for sharing this!

@@ArnoPouwels I would love to, especially with my wife and kids (I was single back in 2007). Have you ever been to the Cederberg? I did a 4-day backpacking trip there as well and thought it was fantastic in very different ways.
