The first time I saw Dame Edna was at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, and one of her lines was unforgettable. She was given a scarf with pictures of little dogs on it, and she said "they should have given it to Camilla, but they gave it to me." I still remember that more than twenty years later.
I just saw one today on the US Game Show Hollywood Squares. She was asked what women say the most satisfying food was & she answered “probably a zucchini”😂.
Edna in the royal box has got to be the best, by far.
I once discovered being in the second row of a Sir Les Patterson show wasn't far enough away to not get spat upon. I also nearly cried at Sandy Stone reminiscing. Never saw Dame Edna, but loved her, she seemed uncannily familiar. $0.02
Sometimes twins do get separated.. it's very sad, and they usually find solice in the circus of the stage and celebrities..

What about the clip on a US talk show, where Dame Edna spoke about her husband Norm's rejected prostate transplant, where she said "But you'd think by now he would be used to having his organ rejected."

I have never heard someone call Edna a Drag Queen be4. I don't think of her that way. More a character. Played for over 50 years.
I agree. This isn't drag, I'd hesitate to say it was even female impersonation. Edna went way beyond that as a fully formed character.

My absolute favourite is when Edna is on the Michael Parkinson show with Dame Judy and Sharon Osborne. I couldn't stop laughing.
I was lucky enough to see the Dame’s last tour. Barry was as sharp as ever. He will be sorely missed. We will never hear about her fashion designer son Kenny or her husband’s “prostrate”. Thanks for the many years of laughs.

It was a sad loss when Barry Humphries passed away. He was genuinely cheeky and funny in a way all Australians were, back in the day.
While his main character was Dame Edna Everage, I don't think anyone has ever described Barry as a Drag Queen. It wasn't a drag show performance but a character that Barry would wear a dress for. For the most part, a Drag Queen is much more flamboyant and "put together", whereas DEE was a simple lady from Moonee Ponds (a suburb of Greater Melbourne).
I think this clip also missed a golden opportunity to regale your audience to Sir Les Patterson, who was equally hilarious as the male equivalent character in the Barry Humphries stable of characters.
But, sadly, we will no longer hear Dame Edna yell across the stage her most unique greeting of "Hellooooooooo Possums"

I thought Barry/Edna should have been cast as Professor Umbridge in the Harry Potter movies. Imelda Staunton was too pretty compared to how Umbridge was described in the books.
She is awesome and you talked too much! Oh, my goodness, show the clips and let us enjoy and make our own judgments. Dame Edna did not need you to try and make what she was doing special. You are forgiven because you were showing her. Next time do not cross the line.
My thought exactly. If anyone does NOT need a narrator it's Dame Edna. All the narrator did was interrupt Edna's brilliant comedic flow.
Barry Humphries' characters were just brilliant! However this video really doesn't do them justice. I don't know how anyone could make such a hash of a tribute to someone of his wit and talent! 🙄

I am not sure who writes the scripts. Dame Edna Everidge is NOT a drag queen. She is a character created and performed by the late Barry Humphries. It’s a shame people don’t understand the different styles, forms and genres in performance. It’s a shame and very sad.

As usual with British commentators - they look at the mist recent and most banal. If you’d bothered to go back a bit to Edna’s audiences both in Britain and Australia - the timing, intelligence, quick wit and sheer depth is way beyond what you showed here
