Do you find yourself trying to find a distraction when going through something difficult? đ
Iâm trying to use distraction less, especially for my anxiety and panic attacks. It provides short term relief but you really have to go through the motions to really move on from something. Everything I tried to suppress would always come out sometime somewhere and often when things were going well! X
I fell onto these podcasts trying to find a review for Will Young's book and this is the second one I have watched straight through in three days. I guess you could say these are my distraction at the moment and so much better than some of the more destructive distractions I have had in the past and they offer me hope, so thank you. I didn't expect to relate to Denise but we have both had similar ways of dealing with things and after decades of needing therapy and being diagnosed as having an urgent need in both 2009 and 2013 think it's the way to go...
Fab interview. Just a wee note on microphone and camera position, Den's mike blocks the view of her mouth which makes it difficult for people with hearing impairment and lip read. đ
Wow! I love Fearne and Denise but I somehow missed this!!!
When Denise said you grieve I thought "Wow... You do!" but then you see your ex, especially if you loved them, and they move on and settle down with someone else. That hurts and takes a long time to get over... What was wrong with me? What do they make you feel that I didn't? Why didn't you love me like I loved you? So hard.
Thank you for this lovely chat and discussion. I'm currently going through family heartbreak and felt less alone hearing this. The physical pain I've been experiencing has floored me, it's relentless.
Learning of Bertrand Russell he buried himself in studies. A quote from John Dewey was âWe do not learn from experience... we learn from reflecting on experience.â
I think keeping ourselves busy to distract us from our pain , doesnât heal the pain . Itâs like a form of medication and as we know medication doesnât always help with emotional pain and eventually have to face it and if we donât face it we end up either suffering further with depression, anxiety then heading to the doctors for medicinal treatment.
Definitely a trauma response.
I use to. Now nothing is to difficult to distract me from my purpose.
Completely off topic but Fearne - where did you get your top? Itâs so pretty.
Great discussion - where did you get that gorgeous green top?
Have to say Ferne, not everyone can afford private THERAPY...and believe me waiting on the NHS takes months and months..
Hang on...was this interview 4 months ago...like Oct 22...because lve read denise has a new chap called Jimmy a propertydeveloper....I'm confused...
Shame the mic covered Denise's lovely face. Great chat though. X

Itâs a shame the microphone hides her face a bit
Denise Outen ( Her real name ) canât seem to keep a man đ€
What a ridiculous shallow comment, from a typically shallow man??
