Can you imagine being friends with Laura? "Popping over" with some cookies and ice tea, meandering through the gardens, chatting about the flowers and plants and their future plans? One can dream....
When I was growing up my dad made me get all the DANDELIONS in our 1/4 acre yard. I used an old butter knife and went out and had to dig down to get the roots out. I was a teenager and I felt embarrassed to have to do that. No one in the neighborhood had to do this. I watched the show about the Standing Weed Tool. Wow, I sure wish I had a Tool like that to get the DANDELIONS back in the Day!!! I'm 69 yrs old now but I remember as if it were Yesterday!! I thought the story would give you guys a little chuckle!! Love You Guys!! I'm from Seattle and even though you aren't close to Seattle, I feel connected to you. It's the PNW !!! I'M SOOO HOMESICK!!
@@lindasimmons4897 u
@@lindasimmons4897 I'm having Deja vu. Maybe I already read your comment in the past, but I feel like you mentioning the show about the standing weed tool brings back some kind of memory or dream of the future, which is what I believe Deja vu really is. Haha! I think I have a standing weed tool in my future.
Dream scenario 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes she s so lovely ! I find her always lifting my mood and so informative ! I’m like so enthusiastic to go out and do SOMETHING in my little garden !
Good evening from Australia! 😊
This space has always been one of my favorite spots on your property. It has a classic garden feel and always seems to be so productive.
Same
Yes me too. This vegetable garden produce so many things and it's beautiful
@@ayina114 yeah, it looks like a perfect design for beauty and function.
Adding flowers amongst your vegetables creates great diversity in your garden which attracts both beneficial insects and pollinators which equals a healthier garden- not just a beautiful garden! Love your channel! Thanks for the motivation!
Good morning from Windermere, Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸
80° and 92% humidity at 8a.m.
I have declared a War on Weeds Week! I spent an hour pulling BEFORE my Daily Dose of Laura💕
💪💪
Good morning and Happy Monday everyone. Cheddar strolling through back and forth in the background reminds me of people who do that behind the news people filming outside 🤣🤣😎😎. I am going to attempt a small raised vegetable garden this week. Wish me luck yall👍🏾.
Good luck, hope all goes well!!
@@lisag6796 thank you. Fingers crossed 🤞
Are you overwhelmed yet girl? I know I would be. That is so much to take care of. And remember that you need to do a certain task. I only have a half acre which we expanded too to this year. I know you have help but it still a lot. Loving the videos as always and I’ll be back for more.
Was watching this just now and heard a strange noise in the audio background.... then it got louder; so I paused... and Lo and Behold... after 70 days of drought/no rain....IT WAS RAINING!!!! We are up in British Columbia,... in the Fraser Valley.... the Berry Capital of Canada... the farmers lost a huge amount of Raspberries due to the never ending heat... and now the Wildfires burning in our Province.... so the sound of rain is ever so lovely... we just opened all our windows... such cool and fresh weather! Hopefully the rain moves towards our "Interior" area, mid province, where it is so badly needed.... Love your video today! So green and lush... what a wonderful Harvest after all your hard work!
Can we get an update on the quail eggs? 🤔💚
Thank you so much for your videos. It has been the best reprieve from our crazy world of the virus, wild fires, and earthquakes,. I am enjoying our new Limelight Hydrangeas, some Quickfire, and “We Bit Giddy” that I have planted, which I wouldn’t have known about except for your tutorials. I’ve also put in water timers, a new lawn area, built a rock garden, and a pink azalea hedge.
I’m in The Fraser Valley of British Columbia and it hasn’t rained for about a month. We’ve had three “heat domes” this summer, which is unheard of until now. I’ve set up the water timers so that they go off for an hour each morning and we have a beautiful garden now. I have lived in Vancouver all my life, and I can remember a July where it has been overcast and rained every single day. This year, my Heather and sweet peas didn’t survive due to the extensive heat waves despite my best efforts.
Thank you so much Laura for your love of the outdoors. All I have to do is water the lawn , do some weeding, or pruning and it makes my day, so to a fellow gardener thank you for sharing!!!
Such a privilege to grow your own food, but it does take work and time. The old adage you reap what you sow! Watching you harvest pleases my soul! TFS💐🧡
What a wonderful world we would have if everyone worked as hard as Laura does at improving things!
I nominate burnage as the new word of the year. Expresses the meaning of crispy edges so well! Love it
You can spot a true country girl when she eats tomatoes fresh out of the garden dirt and all 😋
Showing the beds' different plantings throughout the season was an awesome addition to this video!
Laura: Burnage...is that even a word?
Me: it is now!
I like the 'word' 'burnage'. It SHOULD be a word, like 'outage'.
I love the new format with you narrating! I can certainly understand why the raised bed area were put on the back burner, you have been busy with the new area! For me it is always a rewarding feeling when I go out & harvest things from the garden! I agree everything looks so good cleaned up! 😊🍅🥕🌽🌿
My grandma would always have a row of zinnias in the front of her garden right next to the grass. It was so pretty!
Mine too, I have always loved zinnias as a result. Even though they can have a more informal, country vibe than fits with my particular garden style, I can find colors that work with the palette and always manage to fit them in! ❤️
It’s 10 pm and you are making me hungry with all your harvests!
Love your maintenance videos. So informative. I’d love you to make videos of how you feed/fertilize vegetable and flowers through out of season. Your videos are so inspiring. 🥰One of the only CZcams channel that I don’t skip/fast forward or watch in double speed. Love watching what you do. Thank you. 💕
Would like to have information on maintenance on the North Pole Arbs. Trimming, watering, ect. Please and Thank you!!!
She has mentioned they just let them do their thing and often says that watering etc doesn’t really translate to other areas because they are very dry and hot
Oh my your boxwood and arb hedges are so grown up! They were so little when first planted but now really make the space feel mature and private. Those chives too have been thriving for so long. Thanks for saving them! ❤ I've always loved this veggie garden area
I had chives in a container for over 10 years! This year I replaced it because it had some strange insect infestation.
I love these videos where you just do you. I could watch all day! I also love that you tuck in flowers here and there. What a lovely garden you have. It's so magical.
I've been tucking flowers in my vegetable garden and it makes me so happy! Thanks for encouragement to do that, Laura!
You can "blanche" the beens by pouring boiling water over them, then putting them in a quick ice bath drain, dry off, and store in gallon bags in the freezer.....IF you can find time and room in your freezer...then Cooke them like frozen beans from the store. Loved the show today. GOD bless.....our youngest grandson started college today to be an areospace engineer
Whenever I watch one of your videos I am immediately inspired to go out and get stuck in in my own garden. Found you 6 months ago and watch all your new ones and have been enjoying going back in time to watch the old ones too. Really looking forward to how the area around the Hartley and your new land will develop. Thanks for all you do x
You showed the cabbages and i remembered the quail eggs, Did they already hatched?
My hubby has a pot of chives that are about 40 yr old they were his mother and about 3yr go I put them in a bigger pot I love the flower when they bloom.
Oh my goodness. I don’t know why but my dog was crying at the tv trying to get Laura’s attention it was so cute and sad at the same time. 😭🤣❤️
That is so cute and so sad
Aww! What kind of dog do you have that is so cute?? He/she has great taste in video personalities! ❤️🐶🐕🦺
@@chuckloganair463 I have a Rottweiler puppy, and her name is Charlie. 😍❤️
I want to thank you on another video discussing chelated iron. I had a tree in my yard that was struggling and I didn't know what was wrong. Well I bought some and dusted around the base. Within a few days my tree came roaring back and looks beautiful. Your videos make s difference.
Laura, the vegetable garden is JUST GORGEOUS!!!
“My years kinda go together in this space. Do you get that way?” This made me laugh a lot! Yes, it happens to me a LOT! Makes me feel a little relieved actually, that this happens to someone your age. I was thinking I was going crazy or senile and feeling old.
Great video, and sooo satisfying! This area is JUST AMAZING! 💚💚💚
My pigeon settled down in front of my computer and watched this video with me haha so cute :)
Great video, Laura! You can make working hard look like play! I garden in Alaska and we have our own set of challenges! But it’s still so rewarding and you inspire me to try new things and enjoy the journey! I’ve been gardening for 21 years on our property and it’s hard to remember what I grew which year! So I’ve been keeping a garden journal for many years, a rather incomplete one but it’s so fun to read now. Of course you have all your videos to help you remember stuff! 💐
I think planting an all edible garden space is a great idea, think of all the edible flowers you could grow for drying out and using in teas.
The clematis is so cute and beautiful! I love the ballerina bell skirts of the flowers, too!
It was so funny to watch you cut basil 🌿 (on time lapse and the wind must have been blowing ) because it looked like the trees behind you were dancing 💃 or that they were cheering you on!
I bet they were cheering Laura on!
Good evening from Philippines! I just want to let you know how I love watching you and your family in your videos. I also love gardening but our weather is totally different with yours. Anyways, I always end my day watching your video & I'm so inspired with your arrangements. Good luck and take care. ❤️
I so enjoy seeing your abundant harvest after all the hard work you get into your garden. Well done on maintaining this space in that crazy hot weather this year!
Love love love the voice over. I look forward to your posts every morning……. Thank you!
Are the Arb’s having issues in that area? Looked like a couple had dead or burned branches behind you. That’d be a huge bummer to get so tall then run into problems.
Yes, I noticed that too, hope they’re ok.
Same! For a second I thought I was seeing things. Like, was it the sun?
The arbs filled in so nicely together I hope they will be ok💚
I think I remember that they took a hit in that bad wind storm they had that took the blue spruce out. Check out that clean up video. I think she mentioned it then. 🙂
I remember Laura mentioning that the arb's were going to need to be pruned or tied because the tops were splitting? I don't recall seeing a video with them addressing that issue. Maybe that will be coming out soon?
@@barbarap5574 same! Yikes!
Good Morning everybody🌸🌸🌸
It is so great to see how you use your planters, and how you sow new crops. That space is so abundant! Your rose arbors look beautiful. Adding the pot in the center really looks great!
This was a good post, informative and fun to watch. It was edited nicely. The format was good. Enjoy your harvest.
Really appreciate that you talk about the variety of vegetables your growing and why you like it. Makes me pay more attention to my choices so I’m not disappointed, and not wasting the time on growing something that will not work for me.
Flowers in an edible garden helps with pollinators too
Good Morning! This was such a soothing upload Laura. I love love this mix of flowers and vegetables. Such amazing varieties. Gosh those beans looked absolutely delicious 🤤🤤
Good morning Laura, Aaron and family! Good morning everyone! I always am happy to wake up and find your video already on my phone! I usually watch it on the TV though😍
Those roses are so beautiful, I absolutely love the vegetable garden area so pretty, formal and wild! Laura I know you told us but I can not remember, where did you get the kangaroo bag with the hard bottom at? Harvesting is the most satisfying job in the garden!
Hugs to you all🤗💜🤗
Morning! I think Laura said she orders them from Gardner's Supply but I live in Canada and got mine on Amazon...I'm thinking you could get them from either place. Have a good day!🌿🌻
@@barbaramclean5995 Good morning Barbara! I have one of the first ones she had. I will check Gardener supply. Thanks Barbara, have an amazing week!
Can’t wait to see the roses in bloom again. I don’t have much luck with roses due to Japanese beetles and brown spots so I love seeing how healthy your roses look, especially on the beautiful black trellis. Love your vege garden!
Try neem oil
They should be putting out the last growth before winter.
Try BioAdvance 3 in 1 Systemic for Roses. It's a liquid you mix with water and pour at the base of each rose bush so you are not harming the bees. It's not organic but it does kill off the Japanese Beetles so they don't eat the roses to death. You can apply 3 times in one season 6 weeks apart to the base of the roses. Cut the open blooms when they are fading because the Japanese Beetles love to sleep in the open flower heads. Isn't THAT nice? Eat, sleep and destroy what I want to see and enjoy. Darn pesky bugs.
In 2020 I had hundreds of Japanese Beetles on each of my 24 shrub rose bushes. I had to apply all 3 times. This year I only had to apply 2. You also have to apply GrubX in the spring to your lawn to kill off the white grubs which eat your grass roots and then turn into Japanese Beetles to mate and start the cycle once again. I'd like to do organic but with the # of Japanese Beetles I had I need a product that will protect the roses until I can cut down the #s of white grubs in the lawn and break the life cycle of the pest without harming the bees.
Loved the editing and voice over option
Hey, what happened to the quail eggs?
Again, just love this format! It's so great to hear your thoughts as we watched you working. The garden can go from lush to mangey in no time! What a difference this made. Also, seeing you roam around in the veg garden made me think of the quail eggs you found. Any updates?
That was very satisfying, a relief feeling came over me even if it wasn’t my garden and the voice over was clever cause you can show us a lot more without having to hold the camera in every step you take. It’s amazing what you can get out of a small area. Very informative, thanks
Laura, I am just amazed how productive your garden is. I really feel like I should pay you for all of the knowledge you have given me! I love, love your videos . .I have learned so much from you and Aaron. Makes me so happy! Thank you.
Enjoyed gardening with you this morning. We are on vacation and I can't wait to get home and see my garden!
Good Monday morning everyone! I love to start the week with Laura. I will never buy anything else but PW tomatoes! Omg, I’ve had tons already!😁😁. I love the garden gems,I’ve been picking a huge bowl everyday & making salsa with them. I gave a friend a bunch & she made sauce with them!❤️
Love to mix flowers in with edibles (or vice versa), love plants that are both edible and ornamental like blueberries or sunflowers 🌻
I think you should make a marinara sauce with that huge harvest of garden gem tomatoes. You can use some of the carrots 🥕 in the sauce, along with basil from your garden and go back to grab an onion or two and you’ll be in great shape for sauce! You could even can some! Btw, I absolutely feel it is essential to include some flowers in the vegetable garden to attract the pollinators to come over to check things out! Plus, so pretty!
The garden looks amazing. So full and green. Great to be harvesting food even though our heat is so much! I actually felt a fall feeling yesterday evening while working in the garden. We are in the beginning of a slow heat decline which I’m so ready to feel. I’m so over the heat!
Yes I'm so over the 100+ days here in the Sacramento Valley. Moving to Alaska sounds mighty good on those days! 😆😁
Oooh the idea of an entirely edible garden that Aaron brought up would be so cool! There are lots of flowers you already have tucked in there that are edible, you could add in some fun pansies to top off the fun new cocktails you and your mom will make or to decorate cookies! You could even do some tulips and use their petals for decorating as well! This could be such a fun way to test how you could tuck in flowers and still have a fully edible garden ❤️ Love your channel and have gained so much inspiration from you all, sending love to the whole family from Sunny Southeastern Arizona!
I enjoyed having breakfast with you! You are so inspiring because you grow so many wonderful plants and flowers despite having poor soil. I love learning about soil enhancing products, new tools and especially the new plants and seeds being introduced. I am planning to audit a botany class at the Community College this Fall.
I love Aaron’s edibles only idea! You can do tons of edible flowers and it would be gorg!! Kind of a fun challenge to stretch yourself and do something new!
This would be so fun!
All those nasturtiums and violas and roses that they could use to jazz food up - salads, cupcakes etc.
We took a family vacation last week from SLC, Utah to the Oregon coast and we were able to stop in Ontario! I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting Andrew Seed and the people working there were so nice and helped me get some cool wind chimes and seeds. I told them I was a big Laura fan and I loved seeing the beautiful garden center I have seen in your videos!
I do love the way you narrate while you show all the tons of work you get done in the garden-I learn so much!
A quick cooking segment with the harvested crop, at the end, would be fun! 🍲🥗
What a satisfying feeling to be harvesting all those crops and flowers! ❤️ 🍅❤️
All of your gardens are goals!! I love how you do what ever you want in them too. Like flowers in the raised beds and vegetables in the cut flower garden. They feel like little unexpected fun surprises. And I can’t wait to see what the meadow in the orchard will look like.
Exactly what happened about a month ago to my hydrangea standard. Garden wire worked to lift the branches UP. Thanks for addressing this shared challenge!
Your garden is so beautiful! I love the Collette roses. I plan to plant one this year. I love the way you have flowers mixed in with the garden vegetables. My Mom always planted marigolds in the garden. She also planted a border of zinnias around th outside. She call them “Old Maids”. I love the way you do the narration after the maintenance is done. Love your show!
I love watching all of your videos and really love when you show these types of videos because you give out some amazing advice and information on what has and has not worked for you which is always valuable and informative 😊
It’s so nice to be reminded that planters can be reused throughout the season. When one crop is done, plant another! Thank you for the reminder 🌸💜🌺💜
Yep After my Garlic was ready, I put in some corn, they are almost as tall as Laura's, hope i will be getting some big corns too 😊
Well Laura, next Time you need to give us tips on how you manage to look glamorous while gardening - and your hair remains tidy and nice looking despite all the hard work ! 🙏🏻🥰
Wonderful harvest, Laura, and I love Benjamin‘s little tools❣️ BTW, tell Aaron that you can harvest sunflower seeds in your edibles area, LOL! 😜
I love this space so much since the beginning! It’s so beautiful and I love that you mix flowers with vegetables! I’m working on my space as well super excited about it!!
Had to rewatch and love it all over again. Love this garden so much.
Just when I thought I'd spend the day inside, you've (once again) inspired me to get out and get to those little chores I keep putting off. Cleaning up, pruning and tidying a garden is so very satisfying and my little garden appreciates a bit of room to breath - especially during these hot summer months. Your little veggie garden is wonderful, and don't stop putting flowers in it - we all know that marigolds are great in a garden as they keep those nasty pests away from our veggies !!! the roses look so much better with a bit of a "haircut" - and that clematis is a 'Rooguchi' (just in case someone hasn't already mentioned it) - one of my favorities!! thanks for sharing your gardening information and inspiration - hope you & yours have a blessed week !!
I learn so much from your videos from flower and vegetable varieties and how they perform to planning and maintenance. Every space you have is glorious and worthy of praise. Thank you for everything you do.
How wonderful! Thank you for sharing your lovely space. I love raised beds and the structure of them, they are not too formal but look and feel organized. ❤️
Hi Laura, When I saw the green tomatoes I thought of when my grandmother used to pickle tomatoes. Have you ever pickled any tomatoes. My mouth is just watering thinking of my grandmothers tomatoes, she made them a little spicy. Oh so good!
From Australia as well 😀 🇦🇺 wow! Laura! You are such a hard working person! Enjoy the rest of the day
Good morning all have a blessed day
I’m glad to hear you’ve struggled with nasturtium from seed because I have too. I haven’t started them inside first so that’s a good tip, so thank you! You encourage me so much. When I have a lot to get done in the garden and I’m feeling a little procrastination I always watch your daily video first and it inspires me to get out there and romance the ordinary. So thank you Laura and Aaron, you inspire us in so many unseen ways!
Always enjoy your knowledge with everything including cooking, canning and flower arrangements! I am learning so much and appreciate it. You are a wonderful person, pretty and smart. Triple threat ai think!
Good morning! 🌻🐝
Love those arbors! I have a rose in a garden bed that's been there for YEARS as a shrub. This year we had so much rain, July alone we got 12"+, that my shrub rose is really a climber! I guess the right amount of water is REALLY important.
Veggie garden is so beautiful and quite productive, Love the way Laura presents information!
Today is my birthday and watching you this morning was the perfect way to start my day.
Love Aarons idea of the Raised Bed Vegetable Garden being for vegetables !
It's so lovely to see those healthy tomatoes, because of the out of control weather so many UK growers have had blight it's so disheartening especially for anyone that got into growing last year.
Been such a bad year in the UK.
Ive had carrots go to seed, every tomato plant has blight
Aphids took over everyrhinf
Been a hard one for sure
@@thedorkasaur so sad...but the weather has been all-over the place. Better luck with the next crops.
@@georgekoutsoudopoulos I live near Laura, so no tomato blight! But I wonder if it would help to build a greenhouse type structure around and on top of the tomatoes so they don’t get so much rain?
@@cynthiafisher9907 it gets spread with spores so yes a structure would help... fingers crossed the ones at home are unaffected but my allotment ones are all done for.
@@georgekoutsoudopoulos Aww, that’s too bad!
Good morning everyone from Lafayette Louisiana 🙂🏵🦋🦋☕
Laura!! I was shopping at Anthropology saw these adorable Hunter Peter Rabbit Boots that are black with vegetables all over, and I instantly thought of you!! 🙂🛍❤️
Those garden beds add so much life to that space! If I were to win the giveaway I would get one of the self watering elevated cedar planter boxes to accompany a raised bed I recently purchased. Would be the perfect set for our backyard garden! Thanks Laura and Aaron for the inspiration!
Love from New Zealand . Your show is so inspiring!! Just noticed when you were pruning the basil, that there is a wee bit of dieback on the conifer in background.
We had dieback big time here and it was because of Cypress bark weevil.
It's taken out half the conifer hedge.
Kindest regards..
Benjamin’s tools left over from cutting the watermelon! 🤣
Laura: You don’t want any watermelon?
Benjamin: I’m kind of parched!
Also Benjamin: Tasty! 🤣
Your tidying videos are sooo satisfying! 💚
Did I miss a watermelon picking video??
Potager gardens are beautiful! Keep mixing the flowers and veggies. They benefit each other ❤
I just love your garden! Thank you for taking the time to walk through each plant. Learning about the taste, growth, etc is very helpful! Thank Laura!
Russell and Cheddar always look like they are waiting for their stage cue ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘
Do you feed the marigolds to your chickens? Marigolds are yummy and make the yolks very orange. They have antioxidants and boost the little clucker's immune system. Also, if left in the coop, they keep the coop free of bugs.
What a satisfying video! End of the workday. Just finished dinner and sat down to watch. Perfect end of the day.
Thanks for another inspirational video, and a reminder that my raised beds really need to be cleaned up and ready for planting my fall crops.
Very hardworking women... I love videos... Love from Bangladesh.... ♥
