  • St Kilda Saints FC - AFL PREMIERS 1991:
During 2022-23 all other 5 teams in the Finals in 1991 were disqualified for systematic doping convictions amongst their players.
St Kilda Saints FC was declared the 1991 Premiership Team.
St Kilda's result against Geelong was upgraded to a win via DSQ.
The Saints received the metaphorical equivalent of a retrospective "walkover" through the rest of the finals to the Premiership.
Anthony Lockett was awarded the Norm Smith Medal for his record breaking 9 goals on the day (which was really 10).

There were 3 incorrect scores in the game.
St Kilda: [4] Lockett (set shot) Q1,
Geelong: Bruns (set shot) Q3, Brownless (set shot) Q4 (originally credited as Geelong's final Goal).
    St Kilda FC really won 15. 12. 102 to Geelong 13. 16. 94.
St Kilda won through to the 2nd Semi Final v Hawthorn, but did not get to play in the game, which came with a double chance to qualify for the 1991 Grand Final.
Geelong initially pretended to win by 7 points, a fake elimination of St Kilda FC. It was the first Finals Game St Kilda FC's got to participate in since 1973 (St Kilda qualified for Finals in 1974, 75, 78, 87 & 88, but did not get to participate).

Tony Lockett may have equalled or battered the league record of 150 goals in a season during the 1991 Grand Final, which might have been a win for The Saints. He was on 127 on the official records, with either two or three more Finals to play for the season, when St Kilda FC's seaspn prematurely ended. He averaged 11 goals per game in his last 4 games for the year, and really kicked 10 in the Elimination Final.
1991 Norm Smith Medalist Lockett averaged 7.47 goals per game in 17 games. He missed the first 6 matches through injury. He was also rested for the second last home and away game of the year against Brisbane Bears at Moorabbin, where St Kilda won by 120 points, without him. If the scores had been correct in St Kilda FC games all year (as they should be, corruption free), most people think he would have been on around the 135 goal mark prior to the two further finals, averaging 11 goals per game in his last 4 games.
He was provided with ample excellent opportunities by his teammates.
