great match; the boy from dodge city is Damian Mendez, a 3 time KS state champ, and this was his only loss in a state finals; Damian would have wrestled D1 this year but just passed away from heat stroke while prepping for Fargo; RIP Damian
Bishop is a beast! He's now at UNK. Dude is a 4 time 6A state placer, 3 time state champion (106, 113 and 120 pounds), school-record holder for career wins, only 2 losses in prep career. May his journey as a grappler be filled with fun and never end!
kid in white was frantically trying to get points at the end..... when the crowd starting counting he was panicked ..... poor kid and a tough loss for the state title
That HAIR though! He looks like little orphan Annie! 🤣 There used to be regulations about hair and nail length in wrestling. I wonder what happened to that?
@@someguy9778 Well, its certainly not becoming. It looks like the hippies from the late '60's/early '70's! What I cant grasp is how they can be comfortable to compete or do it properly with those huge mops of hair flopping all around. Plus I've always felt that guys in general look much better with shorter hair. I remember when I was in high school during weigh-ins there would always be a hair, nail and skin check.
There is no hair length rule in HS wrestling now. It all changed after the infamous hair cutting situation several years ago that made the national news. We still check nails.
@@lukechanner503 Oh; THAT. Ironically, that 'incident' actually took place in MY state! It was all over the media here for quite a while. I don't know if you are a wrestler yourself currently or what state you are in, but this is something you may not know. That was blown WAY out of proportion. Why? Because the ref in question had trouble before. He had used a racial slur against another ref who happened to be black so SOME people were just looking to get him on something. So it was made into a racial issue rather than one of wrestling regulations. Even the governor weighed in and called it an issue of 'identity' rather than just regulations to play sport. The kids family did not pursue legal action, but the ref was suspended for 2 years and then sued for like $100K for defamation of character. But his suit was dismissed. Honestly, I don't understand any of this stuff. Yea I'm older. But when I was in school, people who played sports, especially wrestlers just complied with the rules and regulations!

Such a shame. Damian was an absolute monster. May he rest in peace.

@@robertbauers2210 these singlets are sort of outrageous I find. Yes amazing!

Yes white singlets are so revealing surprised they’re allowed in high school. Probably why there are so many girls there.
