- Hi everyone!
Today I am going to show you how to design your own Cricut Joy Insert Cards. These are the cards that have the tabs and use the innovative CardMat to cut your folded cards.
This is a super simple technique and you can use it for just about any occasion. It does require the use of the Welding feature and some basic image searching skills, but you’ll get the hang of it before you know it.
Here’s my Design Space file so you can see how I put these together:

MsSuper Klutz thank you Joan! How are you doing through all this?
I’m doing just fine. Keeping busy and going nowhere. My hubby does a quick run to the store for necessary food and not even every week. But I did make pleated face masks and he wears his!!
Hello Miss Rita. I truly enjoy your channe! I was so excited about creating my messages inside my cards and I'm doing a wonderful job at it thanks to you. I've advanced to adding a border around my messages/greetings. But I noticed the colorful boarder loses all its colors after I attach everything. This is truly disappointing because it loses the pretty look I'm trying to create. Is there anything I can do to keep the colorful boarders from turning black?
The border I was trying to use had 7 different colorful circles. Thank you!😊
Using the Cricut Joy to make insert cards; some designs have a lot of cut details, that don't always lay well, should I glue to back before I use the insert card?? thank you for your tutorial.
I am loving my joy but I was doing the graduation card that says you make this look good and he has a graduation gown and cap on. It messed up two times on the writing. Please help and tell me what to do. Thank you .
Any ideas what kind of images to use to totally design your own not using things from design space. For instance if you want to recognize someone for a special thing
Hi, please can you tell me what gsm you use, ive just tried a few of mine and it’s cut into my new mat. Thanks Josie Nottingham U .K
What type of fonts work best? Want to make some with words
I can cut them with my explore
What is the best card stock to get to make my own cards?
Hi Ruth!
I have found that smooth cardstock that is between 60 and 80 pounds works best. I prefer Michael’s brand, Recollections, which comes in many colors. It is reasonably priced and easy to find.
Can you do the card design without the corner cuts, so that you may use double sided tape to apply the backing?
Yes you can
@@MissRitaToTheRescue Thank you
I followed your video to a t, except for the image. I selected my image and the corners, welded both . After I welded them, the size of my card went from 4.25" x 5.5" to 4.5" x 6.25" and was not given the choice to change the size. I have ruined so many insert cards, I am ready to give up on my Joy. Any help would be appreciated.
I think the issue is the size card. When you say you weren’t given a choice to change the size, where do you mean? On the canvas? On the canvas you could select the entire thing and change the size either up on the top tool bar or on the image itself. I really think that’s the problem. Once you change the size back to 4.25 x 5.5 it will cut fine, I think. Email me at missritatotherescue@gmail.com and we can talk further if this doesn’t work.
Cam we make cards with our own images can we select it from own photo gallery please tell ❤❤
Yes you can do this. Import your favorite photos into design space and use print then cut to cut out for cards
@@MissRitaToTheRescue can you make tutorial of it dear ♥️♥️♥️
That is my problem! I can not I’d the card mat! I have the Cricut Joy, was told that the bundle was in the box. Well, there is no card mat! I called Micheals, then don’t have any, tried everywhere, I had planned to make the cards for my new Greatgrand children, and I have been house bound because of the virus. Do you know how to make the cards without the tabs , help!
Yes, you don’t need to make them with the tabs if you don’t want to. I will schedule a video soon on doing them.
What size is for the inserts? Struggling with that
For R20/A2 sized cards, the insert is 4” x 5.25”
Please help!! Why each time I place my card in card mat, it moves when machine starts cutting. What am I doing wrong?
It sounds like you are losing the stick on the mat. You can restick the mat with two way glue. I use Zig Memory System 2 Way Glue. It comes in a pen and you apply it and allow it to dry. It will bring back the stick. Or you can get a new mat.
Why did you Weld as opposed to Attach?
Welding melds all the layers together. Attaching maintains the integrity of the layers, almost like a paper clip.
Love your videos. Too cute when you pronounced “scooch” like coach with an “s” in front of it. I may have been mispronouncing all this time.
vblawservices Haha! I have a weird accent though. I was born and raised in Boston by people with a very thick traditional Bostonian accent but then spent time in New York, in broadcasting and then traveling all over. I maybe say it wrong?
