I respect this man the most out of everyone you interviewed. He's really into the hobby. Not like the others who just happens to have a lot of money and only sees them as an art piece.
5:04 same thoughts here. The hobby fouls a considerable amount of clean water. For me with freshwater tanks, loaded with live plants, lil ecosystem, water tests great and just do treated top offs
same situation i have a freshwater community 40 gallon in my room thats heavily planted and I rarely ever do a water change. The tank is 2 years old and has a whole breeding colony of shrimp in it and i haven’t seen a death in months.
About not doing water changes, i think that apply to a lot of bigger tanks, it works for me aswell aside from the regular evaporation i never do water changes, once you have a good and stable filtration system, the hydrogen cycle is ok, all the parameters are stable you do not have to work at all. Of course talking about the bigger tanks, it applies to some smaller ones depending on the fauna that you have.
Wow, this man is really passionate about his hobby. He is surprisingly chill when he tells about the explosion. It must have been very scary experience! I like him. He should start making videos of his own! xD
"That created a whole county of sheep." Yes absolutely because paying your taxes" for most people just means acknowledging if the amounts already taken out of your paychecks over the course of the year are more or less than amount of taxes truly owed. The actual "paying" of the taxes is automatically, forcefully, done for you and pretty much all of us 'sheep" have gone along with that system.

when you upload casey video would be great. This morning was the shoutout and it's kind of important to have some footage up already when other 4 people have done so...Also if aquariums are your thing... I think branching off into tiktok/IG reel would be beneficial as well. Casey should have edited out the water leakage thing.. like shipping parcels will for the most part always get thrown around... and asking if you're ready seemed to be passive aggressive from him.. but cool fish tanks m8. 1.2 million subs puts you ahead.. maybe more underwater footage from GoPros or something
I remember going to someone house in Hertfordshire who had half is garage as the back end of a large tank. He had some rota's that I and entire reef forum had never seen. Almost like snowflake speckles. That thing split almost daily. He hadn't done a water changes in years
Wow no water changes I remember having my 125 gallons salt water tank in 2005 and I remember they said I had to do water changes once a month. And this guy doesn’t do water changes amazing how far salt water aquariums have come Great job awesome salt water tank and crazy thumps 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 video.
I think there's more context needed for the scenario where it makes sense to do this... This guy has 10+ years in this hobby and obviously is keeping careful track of his parameters, dosing, etc... Additionally, the bigger the tank, the more stable and slow to react it is going to be... So yeah, someone who isn't super experienced should do water changes...

Lots of equipment for removing nutrients and parasites, as well as dosing the necessary elements that need to be replaced. For most people, water changes are much cheaper and effective way to manage nutrient export and element replacement. They are not necessary if you have a lot of equipment and know what you’re doing.
@@GenePlotkin wouldnt call it "much equipment" you basically need a dosing pump for a carbonsource, skimmer, and maby some aditional filtration like a powerfilter and/or UV alltho that doesn't help with nitrates/phosphates directly. If you are curious, look for DSR (Dutch Synthetic Reefing) method by Glenn Fong. Basically a no water change method, based on balling. His tanks proof it works ;) Good thing about no waterchange: scalable! Waterchange for a nano is no big deal, but eventually we all go bigger tank ;) 20% waterchange on a 600L tank isn't as much fun anymore :) I agree with the guy, going for no water change is the best way to longterm stay motivated into the hobby. Know whats truely going on in the tank without needing to buy/make 60-120L per waterchange ;)
Keep your nitrates down using a carbon source like vinegar Nopox or bio pellets Keep your phosphates down with lanthanum for large tanks and Rowaphos for smaller tanks Use a good strong Skimmer and a roll filter like Clarisea Supplement with Tropic marin All for Reef and Carbo calcium
so basically yeah the equipment that controls all the waters parameter's also there would be a lot of evaporation, would need constant topping up with water which would work along side with the dosing system
