  • Car lights explained - Today you'll learn all about the car’s high beams (High Beam Headlights), and how to use them when driving at night.
    In this video, we go through:
    -How to use high beams
    -What they are
    -When to use high beams
    -Common mistakes & rules
    The strongest headlights in your car are called high beam headlights. They are used at night and in poor lighting conditions to light up as much of the road ahead as possible. Generally, high beams let you see about 350 ft and are suitable if you're driving faster than 25 mph.
    In general, you should dim your high beam headlights when driving within 300 feet of another vehicle, or if you're within 500 feet of an oncoming vehicle.
    While high beams provide more light than low beams, they are also strong enough to blind other drivers if used incorrectly, which is why there are strict rules when it comes to using them (Different states have different rules).
    If you're looking for more tips, we have an awesome guide that goes through how to use your cars headlights and high beams, and we recommend that you read it here: zutobi.com/us/driver-guides/w...

    Cool video!
    Would be great to show how to act on intersections. It is one of the most dangerous parts of the road, so such information should be very useful for newbies 🚙

    Very helpful video! I always have trouble estimating the distance from other cars and so i probably use my high beams less than i should since i don't know if I'm too close to oncoming cars or cars ahead to use high beams.

    I shall share this video with everyone I know. Overuse of high beams has become a problem in India. The problem is very difficylt to counter when you are on a bike.

    That old trick about darting your vision to the side of the road the oncoming lights are not on, is mostly (notice I said MOSTLY) an old adage that doesn't really apply to today's head lights. ESPECIALLY if it's high-beam. High-beam LED lights are so bright and blinding that even looking at the side of the road isn't enough. Sure it's not safe, but far safer over the long-term to look down towards your lap (NOT AT YOUR LAP, that's too far!) while keeping some peripheral view of the road ahead while slowing down gently until the lights go by. You should still be able to see the road well enough to drive slowly and accurately, if you can't, you're looking too far down... but that's not the official advice, so... take with a salt shaker.

    How to dim the low/high beam lights when there are vehicles in the opposite direction?

  • @ccs8766
    @ccs8766 Před rokem +2

    My question is the high beam using the same light source as low beam? Like the same light bulb

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  Před rokem +2

      Great question! The answer is generally yes, the high beam and low beam headlights use the same light source, typically a halogen or LED bulb. However, the difference between the high and low beams is in the design of the headlight assembly itself.
      We hope that answers your question 🙂✌
