I agree with one of the reviewers below--- Dominick reminds me of Clifford Brown- warm tone and improvising style. Pianist Aaron Diehl is also terrific-great command of the piano and very fine accompanist and then bursts out with fabulous technique and musical ideas.--- interesting performance by both
For those of you who said "he sounds like Wynton" and who wondered who his influences are: his mentor is Wynton. I don't thinks it's "sooooo Clark Terry" at ALL !!
GORGEOUS sound!!! I really enjoy your tutorial videos. GREAT articulation and such a warm and full sound! You have really incorporated Clifford's style in such a beautiful way...and you make the nearly impossible seem so easy!!! BRAVO!
It’s a smart move. What better way to tie a solo together than bring back a “theme” or “lick” or “statement” in order to connect them? Thanks for helping show others the mastery displayed here!
@blackguy119 i know his tone is so smooth you just wanna pet it like a cat. From this angle it looks like Bach Stradivarius, i believe he listens to miles and clifford
Nice-but with no bassist, I rather hoped Aaron might break into a stride left hand, ala Fats Waller, rather than doing the Errol Garner on-the-beat-chord thing throughout. Not many people can still do the former these days, though.

It ain't the note, it's how you play the note and this is a master class! Wow!!!
It was SUCH an honor to be able to work with Dominick.
Oh my gosh, I hear the likes of my favorite trumpet player, Clifford Brown! - from a jazz studies North Texas graduate, 1982
ive probably listened to this 100 times. Amazing performance!
Same here
I played with Dominick last night with my jazz group. I just found out he's my cousin :D
I got to hear Dominick and Christian Tambur perform at my high school last year, it was one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

Two GREAT masters. Beautiful interpretation of this great classic! And the essential statement of the theme till min. 1:05 is a bright gem.
Fantastic!
Excellent !
Just exquisite. Even Fats would be blown away.
Very nice playing! The piano style reminded me of Ahmad Jamal, but did he get a lot of his approach from Fats?
1:43 and 2:31
The exact same statement
phrased almost exactly
the same way !

What he is doing sounds perfect to me, what a musical master
+zeppy13131 he's actually an excellent stride pianist
haha, he uses the same progression lick a couple of times...
Besides from that, great playing.
Ok, but Aaron is no Errol, you see. Other kind of left hand.
@yaffytaffy12345 nice i found out hes one of my moms friends
Beautiful performance by both ...one day I'll play my trumpet 🎺 like clifford brown.
Man, that audience is dead. I was waiting for someone to say, "Quit playin' that devil music!"
They were taught to be quiet in church!
I think Aaron is ambitious to be better than Art, Lennie, Oscar, Errol, ... I wonder when he will start with Bill.
