U definitely need to do a disclaimer. Instead of these guys wanting to be seen on CZcams, they need to make sure the car is in safe driving conditions.
Tire pressure should be tested before you set out on any track or high speed roadway. Edit: Great disclaimer 💪
@@r.d.9399 that's why modern cars have pressure sensors (direct sensors or through ABS system), but this BMW just has it turned off
@@agnttgr I was just going to say that myself. I use the pressure sensors on every drive, especially before flooring it.
@@Niko-xz5lk to bad that unless you have a direct sensor in your rims.. it doesnt give accurate reading...
@@fonkyman I'm not sure. I know that the car sensors correspond within a few fractions of a PSI to my airline, so it's close enough for me. I use mine to give me an indication of when I can open her up with risk of lighting up the rears, it's been very useful since the tuning.
Misha, could you maybe make some videos about tire pressures, how they affect understeer/oversteer, something about coilovers or adjustable shocks overall - how to adjust compression and rebound, how it affects cornering, understeer/oversteer, etc.? I believe that would be interesting for everyone and also must to see thing for those, who want to give their car keys for you to lap the Nordschleife.
and also how different types of tyres are happy with different pressures.. it's a neverending list of variables, but the more in depth you go, the better we can prepare.
I'd watch a basic track tip video explaining hot/cold. I've tried to keep mine to stay at the door levels hot, but it seems a bit lower is ideal? Misha help us new people!
Best part of the vid 13.31 when low and behold the menacing view of an E36 pops up in the rear view mirror and then goes on to show how a proper chassis and tyre pressures perform 🤣👌🏻 gotta love an E36 ! 😊
wow the whole lap felt like a recipe for dissaster. glad everyones safe
Forget tyre pressures for one second because my god the stuff crashing about at the back of the car would drive me insane.
That car absolutely rips through the speedo! 60-120mph so many times, that is definitely a legit 600hp.
Also the H&R ARB pairs have a relatively very stiff front one, which may actually be the main understeer culprit, possibly more so than the tyre pressures.
To be fair to the guy, the pressure issue wasn't out of negligence, just been given bad advice
Agree on this, Anti roll bar effect is very little known, especially on the Nuerburgring - maybe they are not required here.
How is it not negligence if he's the owner and he's on the Nurburgring? Maybe acceptable if he had just taken his driver's license and was driving his dad's car to the supermarket.
First and foremost you can't just randomly throw mods at the car and expect them to work harmoniously. You have to know what you're doing, which effect which mod will have on the whole car / setup. For example with an ARB you might then have to adjust suspension and tire pressure.. or maybe it will not improve driving behavior at all. I have thrown out mods in the past, because they just don't work with the car or setup. Mods need to be an informed decision - they need to be planned and tested!
Agree on the anti roll bar. Only a few people understand that a stiffer anti roll bar gives less traction on that axle. It's nice to put a stiffer one on the back for more oversteer but still drivers preference.
At yhe end the owner said he added the anti roll bars because of the car rolling. The car rolls more because of the lowering springs. If you lower a car and keeping the same spring rate the car will roll more. I am curious if this knowledge known by others.
This is how the car manufacturers develop their products. If you lower the car the angles of the mcpherson will increase the distance from the rollcentre and the center of mass. If the rollcentre is equal as the center of mass the car will slide before warning the driver.
Such a powerful car with good brakes and dissapointed Misha, when he heard about 22psi and no way back 😅
Typical UK tuning car I’d say:
- engine power Tuning was first prio
- the rest like handling or safety is not really considered
yeah like 600hp and lowering springs...
Why bother with roll bars without doing coil overs...
I wouldn’t go below 30 ….so 28 in the front then 🙈
Three days ago I was talking with my brother about this problem: is Misha not scared of drivig unknown car builded in the shed by a random guy? It's good that you raised this topic!
What I learned at a trackday was to start of with normal pressure, then as the tires heat up let some air out to maintain the correct pressure, most guys at the track will have a pressure gauge, then when your finished pump them back up at the nearest gas station
Aside from the Tyre pressure, the car seems well sorted. No engine issue or braking issues. Best of luck to the owner & good teachable moment.
great driving with the low pressures. i think something to mention is that not everyone will push the car as hard as Misha and it may seem "fine" to them for the driving they do.Given Misha has much more experience than even some who are regulars at the ring. When they ask Misha to drive their car, they are getting one of the best on the ring and their car will suffer the wear and tear of the ring that much more in his hands, this isn't a fault it is just a fact. Misha should not be the person testing the car to its breaking point, you can tell he does everything he can to respect the car and its owner, he's there to drive the car for pleasure not as the guinea pig . I 100% agree with the contract/agreement to be signed, dont need to leave things in questions if something goes wrong.
Somebody thinking 22 psi in tyres is okay for anybody shouldn’t have a license in my opinion, especially somebody in a 600bhp car, but that’s just my opinion 😂
Changed to summer tires today. Saw them lost pressure while sitting over the winter. Checked it out, 1.8 bar. Undrivable, so i pumped them up to 2.2 front and 2.1 rear, and im draiving a 08 Astra 1.6l station wagon. Take care of your tirw pressure unless you want a car wobbling...
Sad for the tyre pressures because the car was really good. I was waiting for the overheating moment, but rest of the mods are proper! Hope you have another lap this year with him, more mods and correct pressures :D
I dont understan people who tune the car to 600 hp and they dont have proper suspension or tyres.
@@vollcare4076 yes i now but if you want 600hp then you have a least 1500 euros to spend on mid tange coilovers like kw,bilstein or einbach.
@@nevenblaskovic7627 agree with you.
Obviously this F30 was more focused on straight line acceleration runs etc,
And less built as a track car
"A boy told me to set low tyre pressures and then ran away"
Probably the most cautious Misha video since.. the Saab? Still entertaining tho and sad the guy didn't get to see his car shine on here.
I really don’t understand guys that chase big figures on cars but upgrade suspension, brakes or do maintenance. It’s crazy.
Tyres will overheat faster if they are under pressured because there is more movement in them which generates more heat. Correct pressure when cold will give the best contact and performance as FULLY TESTED by the MANUFACTURER.
I know it's so fucking stupid putting 24/22 psi in this car. Think he knows more than the manufacturer
This is extremely silent for 600hp. I like it 😀
the farts it makes on the overrun sounds like the engine is breaking itself tho
i think ur videos are great and show the whole thing about driving the nurburgring risks etc. good work!
So a guy built a 600hp car and doesn’t know what pressure to keep his tires…
Awesome Disclaime Misha!! 1000% right!!
If it was cold pressure it wasn't really 2 low cause they would reach higher pressure pretty fast with some heat in them. Think the understeer was mostly generated by the stiffer arb in the front together with lowering springs without changing the camber. Lowering springs can really have a bad effect on the geometry.
Most of people dont play with this stuff so have no idea on how sway bars and chassis bracing affect handling.
Thats leaning hard on the tyre walls.. needs stiffer rebound to make use of ad08s too..top pedalling as always bro👌
“I do everything” except keep air in his tires 😂
He's lucky that you can handle the power/tire pressure at that point because a normal person would be off track in turn 3 😅
Good words at the start of this video. Keep up the good work buddy. 👍
Big ups to you Misha for driving these cars everyday! But glad to hear that you are going to make a disclamer👍
I've noticed that most of these issues are with cars from the UK. Chavs...
Don't tarnish all of us from the UK. Most of us know how to look after our cars. The ones that don't are all the ones who have daddy's money. ✌
He clearly isnt a CHAV. Dude, he looks like a nerd just into his cars. Say that too a real chav you will have no trainers or watch lad.
It's something I've noticed also , big power, little to no handling mods because.. numbers 🤷♂️
Thats because they didn't know how expensive is the air in Germany for the tire-pressure .. .;-)
I run my atom 16F/20R and thats only because I wont go down to the 13-14F recommended. Works best at that pressure on track. Even a heavy car like the Zl1 1LE the recommended cold pressure is high 20s from the factory
My feeling is... The Owner of the Car is unteachable... Too low Pressure is no stability for the Tire
Guy looked like he was going to cry tbh
Got my pressure an temp on display all the time
‘Tire pressure is too low. That’s why it’s under steering.’ Continues to peg 140mph. Lol
Respect Misha. The owner is crazy.Perfect car and he ride o. Yokohama and on 22psi.Unbelieve.
Feels like this car was built to quote numbers in the pub rather than to perform on track?
Dont know how you dare driving all these cars but its great to watch :)
I bet the pudding in the passenger seat didn't help with the understeer either 😅
'That's cause people don't do mods' 'i do everything' 👀 except for putting air in your tires bud 🤣
Low tyre pressures money rolling about in the back which sound like one massive distraction. Jeez come more prepared I had a bad feeling throughout that whole video glad all was safe.
The engine is amazing
left him speechless
With such low pressures you get in a very high risk of the tyre simply blowing up.
Love it !!
Love your content. To be fair to the guy. He told you the pressure just as you started the lap. You didn't have to finish the lap.
o man, that clancking sound in the back is killing me xD
Protect yourself brother ✌️❤️
I think your right if somthing in the car causes a crash its not your fault
a verry good headsup for everyone who go to the ring!
Man he’s probably still running 20lbs pressure.
Running harnesses on a kbrace is so risky. They’re literally just bolted down using rivnuts. They wouldn’t take the force of the harness pulling them in an impact. Spends all the money on performance and skimps out on safety!
oh yes my dream car
Good lord what a rocket!
Het leek wel een hollywood politie film door het banden piepen in iedere bocht.
Hey Misha,
You have experienced many different types/models of seats.
Could You share Your thoughts about that?
From very supportive to Comfortable and maybe for sim racing?
What do You think?
Is it a good idea?
It showed how difficult it was to hustle along at a good pace because the E36 just drove off, when 600hp and modern chassis should of seen an E36 off easily.
Not at all.. Some E36's running 7:10 on stock engine... The BMW E36 has one of the best chassis ever made. Better than a lot of Porsches too.
A 600HP E36 with only 1100KG would destroy almost everyone on the ring and would be amongst the most fastest cars.
@@RiasGremoryS54 No stock E36 laps the ring in 7.10😂😂😂
An E46 CSL was in another league to any E36 and that only laps in 7.50.
A 997, GT3 laps in 7.40 and that's a chassis in another universe compared to the E36 and when we say Laps, there are a few permutations, BTG is generally the trackday guys but manufacturers get a full lap but doesn't include the GP circuit, which makes lap times difficult to compare.
Not surprised he didn’t have a clue with that weapon of a plate 🤢
There's so much misinformation in these comments. And surprised by the blanket statement "never go below 30psi" like what?
He's on semi slicks, he should be starting at like 26psi or 24psi, he will reach 32psi within 5mins.
I run R888R and on my 1050kg car I have to start at 21psi and I will come back in, and after at least 5mins of waiting in traffic in the paddock before I reach my pit location, and check pressures - they are at 30-31psi, that means 33+ "in the moment" on track. Too much still.
Road tires are different, but you can still reach 7psi gain during a hot lap. Only soft tires like PS4 are supposed to be running 38psi+ hot and that's to make up for the appalling soft sidewall.
Semi slicks are usually 30-31 hot, 20-24 cold. I'm not entirely sure how much this changes when you apply it to a 45,000,000 tonne BMW but for "most" cars in my experience this is the case.
Big difference when the car weights so much more. You car at 1050kg will be fine on 20 odd psi. For a big chungus BMW like this it's not a great idea at all. Should do a lap on a higher pressure then take some out after they've warmed up.
If you think about it that car is 60-70% heavier and had a very small side wall.
@@LawrenceTimme big chungus lmao. The guys on AD08Rs which are a borderline semi slick, very close to road tire. He prob shoulda started at 27/28 since the Ring is immediately fast but not very corner intensive for a short while, but even in this video you can see they've come up to near 30psi by the time he reaches the Swedish Cross and then after that I heard no more complaints, and very little tire squeal
...cos they weren't too low for long lol :x
I feel like some people think that because you have a track car, you don’t need to do basic maintenance on it because they think it’s meant for road cars, but it’s the opposite, you have to maintain a track car even better.
Risky move Misha! ;-)
The lowest I’ve ran is like 28psi and that was on my z06 which wieghs 3000lbs
He ain’t too light either lol gonna destroy his rims
It’s not just understeer. It’s also a safety thing. He is compromising the wheel structure.
I am pretty sure that all tires come with recommended tire pressure range.
A race car with low tire pressure and loose crap all throughout the cabin. Nice!
That's not THAT low. I start off at 1.7bar cold on the M3 and end up around 2.5-2.7 hot. But of course I don't go barreling into the first corner either, I take a little time to warm them up. And Nankang sidewalls are pretty stiff. I think the understeer has more to do with stock suspension with stiffer springs and rollbars, that's what I've found with Bimmers usually.
To bad, glad jou made of safe to the end. Car is very impressive, didn't went for an additional lap with right pressure
Noooo wayyyyy B1OW G active yhhhh
I’ve got bad news mate, the rollbar didn’t stop the bodyrolls, I’ve just seen them for 17 minutes 😊
I just want to know what Mischa is thinking when he sees that Ford Galaxy on track, the face said it all 😂
This guy must go through so many tires, he really thought 138Kpa is good and was trying to convince Misha 😂
...the fact that y'all get in these cars without your own inspections in the first place is the most suicidal shit I've ever seen...
...begging for a tragedy...
probably should have cruised round for a lap and sorted out the pressures after being advised they were so low, typical hindsight etc (only superlight cars like caterhams run in the 20 psi range typically) that said pushing on and showing the behaviour probably will save some repeating the same mistake but wouldnt want to get involved in an incident on track once you have doubts on a cars track worthiness.
Well Build Car, but i hope he fixed the pressure after that
"bro bro that antiroll bar is cool and all these mods are great and stuff but like, put some air in your tyres ya noob" lol
Look at those Porsches thats insane 😂
Tire KICKER incoming!!!!
with the treatment and cries of pain , they had to heat up quickly and take 0.3 bars more, one thing is certain they were run in at the end of the lap and the owner too with his disillusioned head.😁😉
This car goes nice from 5 to 7krpm
M340i is only in the G20 3 series. Legit build tho
Yes, that car had rather low tire pressure, however saying never go below 30 as a general rule is wrong. The pressure depends on the car, the tire, on the conditions, on the fact that the wheels are hot after some laps or stone cold being the first lap. Most of the times I run federal fz-201 tires and the optimal pressure is around 1.9 bar when hot, which is about 28psi. But going out with them cold just for one slow warm up lap on a "small" 4km track gets them 0.4bar more pressure. So there are lots of factors to take into consideration. Also that car was understeery because yokohamas are crap tires for the most part. They also like to squeal for no apparent reason.
This is your responsability to check a car before driving it .. ! It's so obvious.
I do everything....except tyre pressures 😂
thats logical, owner will be responsible for engine damage or anyother damages, i.e driver error and crashing into something will be drivers fault, having paper signatured is best way to both be agreed. BUT MAN HOW THIS CAR FLYIES wtff
At least he had his cooling sorted. Seriously though, people who approach you should make sure the basic safety requirements are met before handing the car over.
Its such a common theme I see in the bmw community these days. Slap on bolts-ons, a bigger turbo, make a ton of power and have an awful handling car. This guy tried to mediate the poor handling by doing something pretty sketchy. Glad it all worked out.

Money does not buy knowledge that's why accidents happen, let's see we all have mistakes but if you are going to build something with 600hp and not know what tire pressure to use it seems irresponsible and risky for everyone
Poor tyres. Even for recreational street riding, we’d adjust cold temps based on weather & conditions of the roads we’d ride on (not so much for Tyre wear since since we weren’t racing) & we’d change it them proactively since the contact patches are tiny.

Only lower tire pressure for drift car :]
Jesus I thought that Porsche was going into the back of you in the intro
This isn’t a “m340” it is just a 340i. They did not make m340i F30s.
The tire pressure isn’t the main problem here. You can see troughout the lap that the ‘way the car understeers’ remains the same when the tires get up to temperature. I’d guess its a wrong ride height and setup of caster angle 📐 that makes the rear so planted, the front isnt getting the chance to grip properly. Seems like its setup for stability. Great for highways, bad for turning.
Misha, sounds like it’s time for a checklist and/or a form you give to the owner with all pertinent info or online so they can fill it out ahead of time.
