Excuse me Dany Moffit, I have injured my left thumb three months ago and I took only rest rather than playing or pressuring my thumb but it was not healed so I went to doctor, and after doing X-ray I saw that there was a small extra bone like structure (which is not extra bone obviously) and after the doctor examined he told me that the ligaments torned off. And in this three months I applied pain relief gel or I don't know what it's said(sorry for my bad English) and it helped me getting relieved from the pain but the pain is still there and I feel like my bone has loosened up, n now I can freely move my thumb but I cannot Bend down much as compared to my right thumb n still a crack sound is there. So how much time will be needed for me get well soon n I forgot to say that the doctor gave me 2 kinds of medicine (pills) which I m taking now and I really feel some relief in my thumb. So is there any medicine or some kind of thing to help me apart from exercise. Thank u for ur precious time for whoever read it n please give me some suggestions rather than surgery 🤕. And sorry for making it a little bit long
Unfortunately, thumbs take a long time to heal because we use them so much in our daily lives. If the doctor thought you needed surgery, it will probably be trouble until surgery occurs. However, if surgery was not suggested or you cannot do it at this time, I would suggest you get a brace (www.a3bs.com/uriel-thumb-support-rigid-universal-size-3009838-24-9019,p_948_29583.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk6yUt5ya3gIVEsJkCh0Scw6IEAQYAiABEgIQSPD_BwE) or splint (www.wrightstuff.biz/product.asp?itemid=4106&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk6yUt5ya3gIVEsJkCh0Scw6IEAQYBSABEgJFOPD_BwE) to support your thumb. You may be able to go to your local drug store to find one. By protecting your thumb, it should heal faster than if you're not supporting it in any way.
Blackshadow Baruah same here. Mine was slap by my friend and my left thumb extends backwards. Its been 15 months and my left thumb still swollen and everytime ill rotate my thumb there is a crack. Sorry for my english btw.
I injured my thumb a week ago playing softball and i believe this is what's wrong. However, when i went to the urgent care they said it was most likely tendonitis and that it should be healed in a few days. It is now a week later and it hasn't gotten any better. Should I get a second opinion?
Absolutely! You should see a hand specialist (if possible) or at least an orthopedic physician. This is not something that is going to heal itself, if this is what it truly is.
@Reigning & Defending I'm sorry to hear that. It's impossible for me to help you from afar. You're going to have to make the decision on your own as to whether you can live with the instability. Good luck.
Theres something wrong with my thumb i've had for years. it came after an injury playing basketball, my thumb was pushed back and now it looks like theres a ball pushing out at the joint. Everytime I see a doctor they tell me theres nothing wrong with the ligament, its just my thumb healed incorrectly and there is "extra bone". it feels weird and not normal. i can feel a crack every time i move that thumb back, and its more sensitive to pain than my other thumb. someone pls help me
Not actually seeing the injury, I have never heard of having an "extra bone". You can definitely get what's called a Stener lesion, which prevents the UCL from healing correctly. You could have also avulsed part of a bone and it hasn't healed. If you haven't seen an orthopedic surgeon or a hand specialist, I would suggest that you do that.
Dani Moffit the comment on the report of my most recent X-ray and Ultrasound on my right hand. "The appearance suggests an old metacarpal MCP main RCL avulsion fracture which has healed with bulbous deformity"
Sounds about right. The physician should have done something to prevent that. I am not a hand specialist, so I don't know if there's something that can be done non-surgically, but I would invest time in a specialist to see what can be done. My guess is there may be surgery involved, but depending on your age and hand dominance, it may be totally worth it.
this is where the joint of the thumb is, I got something called a bulbous deformity which is jibberish to me. Is there anyway I can get rid of it? why did i of all people get a deformity from healing? because i kept injuring it while it was healing (i.e. i kept playing ball at the time instead of taking some time off). is the continuous cracking of it dangerous? sorry for alot of questions, i seem to be the only guy in the world with this injury
dani moffit im 20 years old, is it wise to get surgery now then when older? my mother warns me about how dangerous bone surgery can be and i dont wanna screw up my hand :\
With all due respect, I don’t have a channel myself for the 17 years I’ve been in medicine but these slides and complex language clinically don’t attract common ppl which is an audience for a CZcams channel. Dumb down the content and material and maybe show your face and body describing the injury and information. This is like a boring lecture we all had to attend for school or annual credits. It’s giving me a headache.
they did that stress test and my thumb hurt watching it : (
Dam my pain is lower then the gamekeepers thing it like pops

Yea, cant touch thumb to any other finger except the index
I get heart right thumb by basketball 19 march 2020 can its recover without surgery now pls tell me
Not usually. It depends on the severity. A brace may help for a minor injury, but usually surgery is required.
lol I got hurt by a basketball just yesterday
Ouch!!
Wanna like try speaking English with those big terms you use? Or at least explain wtf it means

With all due respect, it's made for students. If you don't like it, you don't need to watch it. Have a great day.
